Avoid this company! I chose this company because it was a lower price than the other companies. Now I know why they are cheap. They were suppose to pick up in the morning when I contracted them. I got a call the day before saying they would be there by 2:00 p.m. Then I was told that it would be around 5:00. They arrived at 7:15 p.m. and were extremely rude to me on the phone with excuses about how long the previous job took. I only had packed boxes and a couple of furniture items. I was going to start a 14 hour drive after they picked up but because they were so late getting there I had to stop at a hotel. They took my IKEA couch/futon wrapping one blanket around it that didn't cover either end of the couch exposing the fabric. I asked them to cover the ends and they said they would on the truck. They loaded the stuff on a Budget Rental Truck which was I thought was odd.

Ten days later my stuff arrived. Again I was told between a three hour window and they arrived an hour after that. When I called to ask where they were I was yelled at on the phone. My boxes arrived with holes in some of them, furniture not covered properly with scuff marks on it. The couch was still uncovered on the ends and the guy was dragging it on the ground until I started helping him get it in the house. He arrived ALONE with no helpers. What if I had a very large item???

There are no excuses for their lack of communication and the rude drivers who yell at you on the phone. Next time I move I will pay for a reputable company that treats their customers with professionalism.

Please - NEVER-NEVER- NEVER, use Public Movers! My experience with them was more horrible than I ever imagined possible, and I had heard many moving horror stories. My "binding" quote from [redacted] which I updated with her several times before my move date meant nothing. On my move date, needing to catch a plane in 7 hours, I was told by the moving supervisor that my bid was too low by $800.00 and that my boxes were inadequate???? When I told him I had a binding quote that I had updated and felt was VERY accurate, he said either I agree to the higher quote or they would leave, leaving me in the lurch. Funny, when I CALLED THE OFFICE, NO ONE ANSWERED!!! I HAD NO CHOICE. I bought "better" boxes and tape from them, quickly repacked all my boxes, and continued the move out. Then the supervisor had the gall to asked me to tip him and his crew. I opted to have Public store my goods for 30 days until my new place became available. Despite many calls asking for a review of my higher moving day quote, I never got a call back from anyone. During the 30 days my things were in storage, I called many times to reiterate that I had started a new job, could not ask for time off, so the movers HAD to be in my new location on Sunday, the 1st. I was told MANY times that would be no problem. However, as the date for the arrival of the truck drew closer, the info from them became more vague - bad weather, road conditions, etc may delay the arrival of the van, but "don't worry". The van was to arrive Sunday the 1st. I called Wed, Thurs, and ZFri, but never received a call verifying that the van would arrive. Sunday the 1st came and went. I called repeatedly, never getting a call back. 2 weeks later, after calling the Attorney General, I got a call at work saying the van would be at my new place and I needed to pay the balance , in cash, before the truck could be unloaded. I explained that I could not get away, especially with no notice, and they would have to wait until I returned from work at 5:30. They said no, that would not work. It was much trouble to get away , get cash and let them in. I drew a map of where I wanted the furniture. That was completely ignored and I had to end up moving almost all the furniture again, because they ignored my map and placed the furniture haphazardly. MUCH BREAKAGE!!!! My glass top to my dining room table was dropped - it shattered into a million pieces, and they just left the mess. Lamps, my bicycle, dishes etc were broken. I called them to say they needed to come back and correctly place my furniture, but of course I never got a call back. I was heart broken and furious at the way I was treated. I felt I did everything to communicate with them and they did absolutely nothing in return. I was SO ANGRY that they NEVER returned any of my calls - I always had to call them back and then the outcome- TERRIBLE. THey had me over a barrel and they knew it and treated me accordingly. However, I take comfort in believing that what goes around, comes around. I hope they go out of business. BEWARE OF PUBLUIC MOVERS. There were some good reviews online when I contracted with them, but I am sure they must have written them, because now, I see nothing but bad reviews.
