I would give any amount of money to see this place shut down asap, and here is whyI recently lost two pets and wanted to help myself through the grieving process by getting a puppyI stumbled across this place by pure accident and wish I never walked through their doorsI found myself immediately feeling bad for these poor puppies because they were cramped in such small spaces and obviously are never allowed outside of their cages unless someone purchases themAfter finding a cute puppy, which cost well over $1000, they pushed puppy food and other unnecessary products to make moneyHowever, I figure my new puppy (purchased on 1/1/16) would be a happy and HEALTHY addition to the familyMy poor puppy started to show signs of illness within the first hours after the time of purchase, and this was confirmed when he visited the vet for the FIRST time since entering the state of connecticutWithin days of purchase my new puppy racked up a large vet bill and over $worth of medicationsA few days later, my poor puppy had to visit another vet because he was getting worse, and was given additional medication for parasites, kennel cough, and and upper respiratory infectionGiardia, the parasite he was diagnosed with was 100% present at the time of purchase, and is a parasite that cannot usually be killed with modern medicineThis puppy was very sick and after loosing two pets recently, the last thing I wanted to do was watch another dieAt one point this poor puppy had blood in his stool due to these parasites, and I became afraid of this puppy who would also get very, very agressive unprovokedNow, the owner Lauren K*** was impossible to deal withSo much so, that I had to seek legal representation and get the state involved just to see rienbursmentHad I known about their reputation before stepping into their store, I would have NEVER purchased a thing from her or even given her the time of dayThere are a lot of nasty, nasty things that I could say about Lauren and her establishment, but she isnt worth the air or time it would take to say itIf you want to know the truth about this place, just ask anyone who lives around the Norwalk areaLauren K*** gave me the WORST two weeks of my life, and should be ashamed of her practices, business, and lack of customer service (which is nonexistent in their stores as well)CT has a law called the Puppy Lemon Law in which POW was in direct violation of by not letting me return the dog or get a refund/rienbursmentThey also were violating our Consumer Rights (which they failed to give you a copy of) by not allowing us to do these thingsPOW was going to be shut down before Lauren's husband died (he originally owned the store) and now they just need to build their case against Lauren to shut the place down for goodDO NOT listen to her lies and purchase from POW! There is absolutely no basis for this complaint. The complaint is filed by *** *** and he is not the person who placed the deposit on the puppy. The deposit was placed by *** ***. *** *** claims "we never signed any documents" and that is a blatant
lie. Attached to this response are two PDF documents- one of which is a signed deposit agreement and the other is a signed credit card receipt. *** *** complaint states that he requested a refund the same day, but in a phone conversation he acknowledged that it was in fact the next day. In that same conversation, *** ***k acknowledged that he "neglected to read the fine print in the deposit agreement."
The fact that deposits are non-refundable could not possibly be described as "fine print"
The signed deposit agreement could not be more definitive on the fact that deposits are not refundable under any circumstances. The attached agreement signed by *** *** includes the following language:
"Deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE." Non-refundable is all capitals in the agreement
"We will not refund deposits for any reason."
"If you decide not to purchase the puppy you agree that you will not be refunded any portion of the deposit for any reason."
"Deposits may only be left if you seriously intend on buying the puppy."
The transaction took place after the store's closing time and we stayed late to accommodate the customer. The puppy was just nine weks old and the customer was old that the puppy exhibited a slight cough and the customer agreed with our recommendation that we have our vet check it the next day. The dog was examined b our vet the following day and found to be totally fit for sale
Everyone who places a deposit on a puppy is told that the deposit is non-refundable. In the event that a purchaser decides not to buy the puppy on which the deposit is placed, we will, however, allow the customer to apply the deposit amount to the purchase of a dog at a later time even though that is absolutely not required under the deposit agreement, and *** *** was told that the deposit was in fact able to be used on a future puppy purchase
Deposits are simply an accommodation to our customers so that the puppy they want to buy is not purchased by another customer before thay are able to take it homeWe have had numerous occasions in which a customer decides to purchase a particular puppy but decides not to leave a deposit and the puppy is purchased by someone else before the customer comes back to buy it. All puppies are unique and cannot be treated like merchandise where there are numerous items available for purchase that are all the same
We have had several cases in which a customer atempted to reverse the credit card charge for a deposit on a dog that was not subsequntly purchased and the credit card companies (*** *** *** *** ***) refused to refund the deposit to the customer because the deposit agreement is so clear that the deposit is non-refundable
So *** *** lied about the fact that "no documents were signed" and that the refund request was made "the same day."
Unfortunately, *** *** has decided to do more than simply pursue a refund that he is not entitled to. He has decided to accuse our business of being "very unethical" in the Revdex.com complaint. He has also posted at least two reviews on social media websites that accuse us of being highly unethical. As I explained to *** *** in my phone conversation following receipt of this complaint, those postings constitute business libel and if *** *** refuses to remove those postings, we will be filing an action against him for his defamation of our business. *** *** acknowledged the fact that the deposit was absolutely non-refundable by signing the agreement and t is certainly not unethical for a business to abide by the terms of a perfectly clear agreement. *** *** has until September 15, to remove his libelous postings so as to avoid us pursuing a libel action
With regard to the Revdex.com complaint, the attached signed deposit agreement and signed credit card receipt makes any attempt by *** *** to obtain a refund totally unsupportable

This is a reply to the [redacted] because Ms. [redacted] also reported us to them.  The attachments that the letter talks about are 29 pages of documentation.  If you require the backup, I be glad to send that to you as well.  Please change the name on your records for us...

because [redacted] passed away last August.  Thank you for your continued support.[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:I filed a complaint against Puppies of Westport and recently received an email that included the business’s response to my complaint. I disagree with the Business’s response and still believe that I am owed $509.36 for the vet bill. I attached an email with my response.  July 14, 2015 To the Revdex.com and [redacted]. This letter is in response to [redacted]’s denial of reimbursement for the vet bill accrued by purchasing a sick puppy from her store, Puppies of Westport.  I disagree with the reasons [redacted] has stated for not being responsible for the vet bill. The [redacted] No. 445-2014 states “Any costs for services and medications provided by a licensed veterinarian incurred by the consumer for such illness or such congenital defect shall be reimbursed to the consumer by such licensee in an amount not to exceed (two) five hundred dollars.” These reasons stated above are the legal reasons why Ms. [redacted] from Puppies of Westport should reimburse the vet bill, however there are other aspects of this that do apply:·         Ms. [redacted] knew that I lived three hours away and did not mention that the drive would stress the young puppy. If she was concerned that the drive would harm the puppy, she should have not sold me the puppy, told me the drive was stressful or had me sign a document stating that I was responsible for the drive home.·         The Emergency vet visit was necessary because the dog was struggling to breath and could not wait until the next mornings scheduled appointment. ·         Ms. [redacted] statement that the dehydration was caused from “play time and transport time the day of purchase” is unfounded. The dog had water available to him during the drive and he was dehydrated because he had [redacted]. The SQ fluid was a necessary part of his treatment, recommended by a licensed veterinarian.·         The text message Ms. [redacted] is referring to is taken out of context. That text message is referring to not wanting a refund for the bag of dry dog food, pumpkin baby food, wet canned food and one dog toy purchased along with the puppy. ·         When I asked Ms. [redacted] “Can you please give me a straight forward, yes or no answer, as to whether you are going to pay for the bill.” Ms. [redacted] response was “I told you yes I have paid for your puppy he got stressed on the drive you will have to wait two week.” In conclusion, Ms. [redacted] is responsible for refunding me for the vet bills. Thank you,[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:The explanation/information you providing are incorrect: The puppy we purchase weighted a pound, we were provided by your store employee a copy of instruction of her feeding as well as food. The pictures and video the owner of the store referring too is on the day of the purchase June 8th while we, my son and I were on the phoneand you insisted that we did not pay for the additional items we had purchase for the puppy (as the only receipt we receive was for the credit card charge). Copies of itemize treatment for each day the puppy was admitted was fax.I could resend all the copies for all the treatments she(puppy) had received as you claim you never received. I strongly believe that you are responsibly of the treatment cost.
Sincerely,

Ms[redacted] purchased a one and a half pound Yorkshire
terrier on June 8th with her older (teens to twenties)
children. Ms[redacted] stayed home
for a few days and sent text to [redacted], Puppies of Westport's owner, showing
pictures and video of the puppy eating and was very happy with her
purchase. Ms[redacted] went back to
work and it appears that the puppy stopped eating and the children did not
notice. A puppy that is as small as this
Yorkshire terrier has to eat and drink or it will become [redacted] very
quickly
We communicate with our customers after hours, for hours on
end and then something like this happens.
It saddens us that a tiny puppy has to suffer.
We never received a bill with the list of charges to show us
what the puppy had been treated with and can't determine if the claims of
"unfit for sale" are valid. However:
·
[redacted] is not Puppies of Westport's
responsibility since we can't control the feeding of a puppy once it leaves the
store. ·
[redacted] and parasites are listed in our contract
and we pay for the cost of medicine for the treatment of these very common
parasites. Parasites do not cause
[redacted].·
An upper respiratory infection will not make a
puppy "unfit for sale".
We are not responsible for the treatment cost of this puppy

What an experience I was driving bye puppies of Westport and decided to go in and take a look, no sooner when I got to the door the overwhelming smell hit me. I must say I was one of the lucky ones that did not walk out with a puppy my heart broke for those poor innocent puppies sitting in their own waste and watching them eat it no wonder all the reviews said their dogs all have giardia that place is disgusting and seeing the way these people do business I will never buy from this flea infested dirty pig sty of a place.

Review: On Monday June 8 2015 we purchased a puppy from Puppies of Westport, by Thursday the puppy refuse to eat on its own and we had to syringe feed her. Within one week on June 15, 2015 her conditions deteriorated and was taken to her vet doctor at [redacted] in bad shape which at that time we where referred to take her to [redacted] immediately she was admitted for overnight observation and further testing. At that point we called the owner of the business [redacted] to inform her of the problem we have and she told me to immediately remove the puppy from the hospital that same night and claimed we should had not done this and we should had called her immediately and that she would had taken care of her. Our puppy was diagnostic a the hospital with [redacted] which was due to the [redacted] and [redacted] which was a main factor of the puppy not eating. We received a letter on June 17 2015 from [redacted] a Letter of Unfitness for Sale. We provided the owner of puppies of Westport with a copy of the of the results and letter and she is refusing ownership of reimbursing us with the medical bills totaling $ 3833.66 and claims we caused the medical issues and she contacted both facilities in this matter asking for explanations.Desired Settlement: I request to get reimbursed for all expenses charged from [redacted] and [redacted] starting June 15 2015 through June 18 2015 day the the puppy was released from [redacted].

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Review: I purchased a male [redacted] puppy on 6/22/15 around 6pm. When I got home I noticed that the puppy was struggling to breath and was coughing. I notified the owner of Puppies of Westport the following day and sent her videos of the dog coughing. She told me to go to bring the puppy to the vet. The puppy was diagnosed with [redacted]. The vet bill came to $509.36 which included an exam fee, X-Rays, medicine and IV fluids. Puppies of Westport purchase agreement covers the cost of medical care for the first 20 days of purchase, however the owner has not refunded me money to cover the cost of the vet. I need help with collecting $509.36 from Puppies of WestportDesired Settlement: I want Puppies of Westport to give me a check in the amount of $509.36 so that I can be reimbursed for the vet bill that she is responsible for.

Review: about a month ago we put a deposit on a dog and was told that the dog was too sick for us to take with us. The same day we requested a refund ($318). Business

Response:

There is absolutely no basis for this complaint. The complaint is filed by [redacted] and he is not the person who placed the deposit on the puppy. The deposit was placed by [redacted]. I would give any amount of money to see this place shut down asap, and here is why. I recently lost two pets and wanted to help myself through the grieving process by getting a puppy. I stumbled across this place by pure accident and wish I never walked through their doors. I found myself immediately feeling bad for these poor puppies because they were cramped in such small spaces and obviously are never allowed outside of their cages unless someone purchases them. After finding a cute puppy, which cost well over $1000, they pushed puppy food and other unnecessary products to make money.
However, I figure my new puppy (purchased on 1/1/16) would be a happy and HEALTHY addition to the family. My poor puppy started to show signs of illness within the first 24 hours after the time of purchase, and this was confirmed when he visited the vet for the FIRST time since entering the state of connecticut. Within 4 days of purchase my new puppy racked up a large vet bill and over $100 worth of medications. A few days later, my poor puppy had to visit another vet because he was getting worse, and was given additional medication for parasites, kennel cough, and and upper respiratory infection. Giardia, the parasite he was diagnosed with was 100% present at the time of purchase, and is a parasite that cannot usually be killed with modern medicine. This puppy was very sick and after loosing two pets recently, the last thing I wanted to do was watch another die. At one point this poor puppy had blood in his stool due to these parasites, and I became afraid of this puppy who would also get very, very agressive unprovoked.
Now, the owner Lauren K[redacted] was impossible to deal with. So much so, that I had to seek legal representation and get the state involved just to see rienbursment. Had I known about their reputation before stepping into their store, I would have NEVER purchased a thing from her or even given her the time of day. There are a lot of nasty, nasty things that I could say about Lauren and her establishment, but she isnt worth the air or time it would take to say it. If you want to know the truth about this place, just ask anyone who lives around the Norwalk area.
Lauren K[redacted] gave me the WORST two weeks of my life, and should be ashamed of her practices, business, and lack of customer service (which is nonexistent in their stores as well).
CT has a law called the Puppy Lemon Law in which POW was in direct violation of by not letting me return the dog or get a refund/rienbursment. They also were violating our Consumer Rights (which they failed to give you a copy of) by not allowing us to do these things. POW was going to be shut down before Lauren's husband died (he originally owned the store) and now they just need to build their case against Lauren to shut the place down for good. DO NOT listen to her lies and purchase from POW! She comments on every review, whether on [redacted] or other sites, and tries to report and remove all negative (true) reviews. Only people who are guilty of these cruel practices would try to defend themselves or disprove others on every single [redacted] review. THERE IS A REASON PEOPLE ARE SAYING THESE THINGS! POW needs to be shut down asap and I hope and pray they are.
Please go to the "Boycott Puppies of Westport" Facebook page. There you can even see videos and pictures of Lauren and other workers unloading puppies from 18 wheelers! These puppies come from puppy mills and there is proof everywhere! None of these puppies are healthy at the time of purchase either. I wish I would have known all of this before setting foot in this God awful establishment.

I agree with you she needs to be shut down asap. She did same to me thanks you about letting me know about puppy lemon law I will report her for sure.also I am going to hire a attorney.the place is filthy, smells and the only one who suffers are the innocent puppies.
