To Whom it may concern:
The Purusha Yoga School has been in good standing with the National Yoga Alliance as a registered school at the hour level since, *** and, the hour level since, ***.Our hour Level II training was approved and registered under the certification
name of "Purusha Yoga Therapy".In *** all schools registered with the Yoga Alliance were notified that the focus of the Yoga Alliance was going to switch from being associated with "yoga therapy" and focus primarily on "yoga teachers" Due to the fact that the Purusha Yoga School has a therapeutic yoga focus it was advised that we also be members of the International Association of Yoga Therapy. Purusha Yoga School has held affiliation with both the Yoga Alliance and the IAYT since ***, and *** respectively.Purusha Yoga School became an official member school of the International Association of Yoga Therapists in ***The IAYT notified schools, such as, Purusha Yoga School that they could apply to be accredited as a Yoga Therapist school. Purusha Yoga School notified its students in the hour Level II program that they could be potentially grandfathered in if the Purusha Yoga School became accredited. (as notified and stated by the IAYT)There was never a guarantee of our accreditation only an earnest attempt to be accredited. The Purusha Yoga School has been involved in the accreditation process with the IAYT for years. Over schools are in this long process and less then 1/have been approved The Yoga Alliance has notified schools and yoga teachers that they may not use the words Yoga Therapy in conjunction or correlation with a Yoga Teacher Certification (level I 200) or Advanced Yoga Teacher training (level II 300).Purusha Yoga School has adhered to these guidelines and closely has follows all rules and regulations which includes eliminating all wording of "yoga therapy" in our level II certifications and omitting these words from our teachers bios unless teachers are licensed therapists from another field The IAYT opened up two new pathways in *** for students wishing to be grandfathered as a yoga therapist. Pathway allows yoga teachers to apply as graduates of therapeutic yoga programs (such as Pursuha Yoga) with some experience.Pathway II allows yoga teachers to apply as highly experienced with many years as a therapeutic yoga professional. These new pathways put forth by the IAYT allows students to apply to be grandfathered without waiting for their school to be accredited. Most schools that have applied to be accredited have not been accredited- even after or more years of striving. It is a very lengthy and demanding process Yoga Students in teacher trainings, Therapeutic Yoga professionals, and Yoga Schools have all been affected by these dramatic changes. Our industry is changing every day and these organizations are changing to accommodate a growing need for professional yoga teachers as well as yoga therapists. The Purusha Yoga School has provided its students with consistent educational and mentoring opportunities to aid them in understanding and navigating these changes We have offered weekly free mentoring sessions to all of our students to help them navigate the best path for them personally. The Purusha Yoga School has at no time guaranteed any student the accreditation or certification of Yoga Therapist under these new guidelines that the IAYT has put forthWe have only promised to do our best to achieve accreditationRegardless, the student has a pathway, as previously explained, to register with the IAYT and be grandfathered in as a Yoga Therapist. The Purusha Yoga School is in good standing with both the IAYT (as a member school seeking accreditation) and the Yoga Alliance (as a registered & hour program). The IAYT created the grandfathering paths for yoga teachers themselves to achieve accreditation without the aid of their level I and/or level II school. The Purusha Yoga School provides free mentoring and personal assistance as an added service to aid students and support their success. The total amount that Aviva has paid is $*** toward her level II hr YTT training. All purchase receipts indicate that the payment is for Level II training. The total amount due for Level II training is $***We gave her substantial discounts over the years and allowed her a very generous and lenient payment plan We allowed her to make small payments from October *** through Summer ***.Aviva was notified through several emails and in person conversations as to the process of being grandfathered.Aviva has taken all of her modules and completed all of her course work to achieve her Level II Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Certification. She is qualified to apply to become grandfatheredby the International Yoga Alliance under their pathway One (as indicated above). Aviva started her courses before *** and with her experience could be grandfathered by the IAYT.Aviva still owes $*** to the Purusha Yoga School for her Level II training. Upon completing her payments she is qualified to receive her Level II certification and apply to be grandfathered by the IAYT as many other Purusha graduates are doing currently We would be happy to provide Aviva her certificate of completion upon final payment of $***Sincerely,
