Would like to warn utility users of this company's unethical sales practices(DBA: Peak Six Power & Gas) Their representative did not honestly represent their service/product I do not even use gas at my residence, but that fact did not deter the salesperson from pressuring me to sign up for their service, which is a monthly flat rate and not an actual usage fee (for something I don't use/need)They refused to take responsibility for their representative's tactics and would not credit me once I realized their scam

Hi,Ms. [redacted] called our office on January 5, 2017 and spoke with one of our representative. She stated that she did read and sign the enrollment form which details the rate, rate plan and [redacted]'s role as a CTA, but the enrollment happened very quickly and she misunderstood the rate. During this call, our representative apologized for the inconvenience, explained her rate in detail, and informed Ms. [redacted] about the cancellation process. At this time, Ms. [redacted] asked the representative to "reverse the cancellation and she will call [redacted] and say it was not authorized."  Due to Ms. [redacted]'s conflicting statements, no refund is warranted. Ms. [redacted] was correctly charged $25.00 per month for usage of up to 45 therms.  Ms. [redacted] returned back to [redacted] on February 10, 2017. Best,[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:When a woman came to my door and told me that I could save money by switching my gas transport to [redacted], I was interested.  She then explained that I would pay a fee of ONLY UP to $25/month.  We looked at my [redacted] bill to see if I would like to switch.   What is not acceptable is that the person coming to my door did not explain the fees and process correctly at all.  I read the contract and she said I would save money.  Sometimes things such as this contract are very confusing in their wording.  I believe she and I understood the contract as much as we were able. When my first bill came, I realized that no, I would not save money. In fact, I had to pay $25/month more than I was already paying.  I still also had to pay the same amount I was paying to [redacted] plus the $25/ month. I called [redacted] and cancelled my contract as soon as possible.  However, I still had to pay 3 cycles of $25 before the contract could be changed.  I paid $9.47 to [redacted] on NOv. 22.  Jan., Feb. and March I paid about $40 on my bill.  So, in all I paid$75 more than my normal bill even though I cancelled it as soon as possible. I believe that this way of trying to accrue customers is misleading and inappropriate.  I live in low income housing and to have someone come to my door and then say I will save money, and then I actually pay more is not acceptable. I am not asking to get a refund for the amount of my gas bill that I would have paid had I stayed with [redacted].  I am requesting a refund for the extra $75 I paid because of misleading information.  I also called [redacted] to say that this method of getting customers is misleading, but they stated they have no part in it.
Regards,
[redacted]

Hello,Thanks for the inquiry. Ms. [redacted] contacted our office on January 5, 2017 requesting to cancel her enrollment. Per the customer's request, her account was canceled and submitted to [redacted] on January 5, 2017. [redacted] confirmed the cancellation on January 6th with an effective date of February 10, 2017.Ms. [redacted] acknowledged the signed enrollment form which detailed the rate, the cost of any usage overages, and [redacted]'s role as a CTA. We apologize for any frustration regarding the enrollment process. We regret to hear of any situation where a customer no longer desires our services; however, we are unable to issue refunds when the customer has been provided with the correct information and later decided to cancel services. As contracted, [redacted] procured and scheduled transport Ms. [redacted]'s full gas requirements to her location for the duration of her enrollment with [redacted]. Her account was canceled without any fee to do so.  Best,[redacted]

Hello,[redacted] takes any allegations of fraudulent enrollment very seriously and conducts daily quality assurance to ensure the validity of all sales. Based on this customer's allegation of fraudulent enrollment, [redacted] will find the difference in rates between [redacted] and [redacted] charges during this time...

period, then issue a credit or refund to the customer for the difference.   Mr. [redacted] contacted our office on June 12, 2017 requesting cancellation. Per his request, this cancellation was submitted to [redacted] and confirmed with an effective date of August 21, 2017. This account was canceled without any fee to do so.The utility processes these cancellations according to their billing timeline, and unfortunately [redacted] is unable to alter this timeline.
