I AM RESPONDING TO COMPLAINT #***. MR*** *** BROUGHT HIS *** *** TRUCK TO US ON 11/10/14. AT THAT TIME HE STATED THAT HE HAD JUST GOT THE TRUCK AT AN AUCTION AND HE COULD NOT SHIFT THE SPEED STANDARD TRANSMISSION THRU ANY OF THE GEARS. HE HAD NOT EVEN HAD TIME
TO REGISTER THE TRUCK. THE FOLLOWING DAY WE CHECKED OUT THE TRUCK AND FOUND THAT THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY WOULD NOT RELEASE. AND THE TRUCK WAS NOT SAFELY DRIVABLE. WE TRIED TO ADJUST THE CLUTCH BUT FOUND THE ADJUSTER WAS BROKEN AND NO ADJUSTMENT WAS POSSIBLE. SINCE THE ADJUSTER IS AN INTERGAL PART OF THE CLUTCH ASSY. (CLUTCH DISC, PRESSURE PLATE, RELEASE BEARING) WE QUOTED MR*** A PRICE TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH ASSY. WHICH IS WHERE WE HAD TO BEGIN WITH THE MOST OBVIOUS PROBLEM. HE AUTHORIZED THE REPAIR. WE ORDERED THE CLUTCH AND BEGAN REMOVING THE TRANSMISSION ASSY FROM THE BACK OF THE ENGINE. IT TOOK DAYS FOR THE CLUTCH TO ARRIVE SO WE LET THE TRANSMISSION ON THE TRANS JACK UNDER THE TRUCK. ONCE WE GOT THE CLUTCH ASSYWE INSTALLED IT AND REATTACHED THE TRANSMISSION TO THE ENGINE. THE CLUTCH RELEASED AND ENGAGED PROPERLY BUT AT THAT TIME SINCE WE COULD ACTUALLLY DRIVE THE TRUCK NOW, WE FOUND THAT THE SHIFT HANDLE WOULD POP OUT OF THE 2/SHIFT FORK. WE INFORMED MR*** THAT EXTRA WAS NEEDED AND HE SAID HE NEEDED THE TRUCK FIXED. SO HE COULD HAVE IT FOR PLOWING FOR THE STATE OF R.I. WE ORDERED AND INSTALLED THE ADDITIONAL SHIFTER PARTS AND COMPLETED THE REPAIR AND MR*** PICKED UP THE TRUCK ON 11/19/2014. HE CAME BACK A FEW WEEKS LATER 12/10/SAYING HE WAS HAVING TROUBLE SHIFTING THE TRANSMISSION. WE READJUSTED THE CLUTCH TO COMPENSATE FOR INITIAL BREAK IN@ NO CHARGE TO MR*** AND HE CAME AND PICKED UP THE TRUCK. ON JANUARY 21, HE DROPPED OFF THE TRUCK BEFORE WE OPENED WITH NO APPOINTMENT. AND LATER CALLED TO SAY HE COULD NOT SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION INTO 2ND OR 4TH SPEEDS. I DROVE THE TRUCK TWICE, ONCE FOR MILES AND LATER FOR MILES AND HAD NO PROBLEM WITH EITHER OF THESE SPEEDS. I EXPLAINED TO MR *** THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE SHIFTING BUT HE SAID IT WASN'T RIGHT, IT SHOULD BE PERFECT AFTER ALL THE MONEY HE SPENT. I REPLIED THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH WERE WORKING FINE AND FULLY FUNCTIONAL AND USABLE AND NOTHING ON A YEAR OLD VEHICLE WAS GOING TO BE AS PERFECT AS HE WANTED. IF HE WANTED A PERFECT TRANSMISSION HE WOULD HAVE TO BUY A REBUILT TRANSMISSION. MR*** INSISTED I SHOULD DO EXTRA REPAIRS ON HIS TRUCK AT NO CHARGE, WHICH I REFUSED TO DO. HE REPEATED HIS SAME ARGUEMENT AGAIN AND AGAIN UNTIL I TOLD HIM I WAS GOING TO HANG UP. HE REPEATED THE SAME ARGUEMENT MORE TIMES AND THEN I DID HANG UP. HE CALLED BACK AND AFTER LISTENING TO HIM REPEAT THE SAME THING AGAIN I HUNG UP AGAIN. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR MR***S COMPLAINTS BECAUSE # HE HAD JUST BOUGHT THE TRUCK AT AUCTION AND HAD NO IDEA OR HISTORY OF WHAT THE TRUCK WOULD NEED. # WHEN HE BROUGHT TGHE TRUCK TO US IT WASN'T REGISTERED OR SAFE TO DRIVE. # WE DID THE APPROVED REPAIRS AND THE TRANSMISSIOBN AND CLUTCH ARE WORKING PROPERLY. MR*** HAS GONE AND CALLED HIS CREDIT CARD COMPANY TO HAVE THE CHARGE BACK TO HIS ACCOUNTWHICH HAS BEEN TAKEN OUT OF OUR ACCOUNTWE WILL BE DISPUTING THE CLAIM

As far as this disagreement is concerned it does not matter where or when Mr. [redacted] acquired or registered his truck. I only repeated what he told us when he dropped off the truck. At that time we were unable to drive the truck due to it having a seized clutch assy. which would not properly release. It is part of our diagnostic procedure to road test every vehicle before we begin working on it, whenever possible. The condition of Mr. [redacted]'s truck made it impossible for us to safely test drive it so we were not able to assess that it would require other work. Yes, Mr. [redacted] did call us many times on January 21.  I kept hanging up on him because I was offended by his crude and argumentative behavior. We are a very reputable company, doing business in this location for almost 25 years. We are sorry that Mr. [redacted] is not happy but obviously no amount of rational explanation is going to convince him that the work we performed was required to make his truck runnable.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint #[redacted]. Please add your rejection comments below.
This gentleman clearly does not know what the truth is....First of all the vehicle was registered and inspected when it was brought in for repair....therefore Quaker Lane was very much able to test drive the vehicle. I can provide documentation to the facts stated about registration and inspection.  On January 21st when said vehicle was dropped off the owner of Quaker Transmission was hostile and would not discuss the matter with me on the phone....again I would be more than happy to provide documentation of the phone calls made that morning, you will see multiple phone calls  made to Quaker Transmission....Mr. [redacted] clearly has a case of selective amnesia....he remembers the vehicle being there, but cannot remember telling me to come get the vehicle, that they were not going to fix the vehicle.   Also this vehicle was not purchased at Auction...which I also have documentation to prove.I am clearly dissatisfied with the progress of this matter, and with the service of Quaker Lane Transmission.  I look forward to hearing from you in this matter.
Regards,
[redacted]
