My fiance's car broke down Monday morning and we had it towed to this shop to have it repaired. My fiance got a call back later in the day from the mechanic, ***, that after diagnostics that the timing belt had snapped and that it needed to be replaced and that should make the car start again. We okayed the repair and then didn't hear back from *** later in the day Tuesday, he did say that changing the timing belt on this make and model of the vehicle was a lengthy process. However, when the mechanic called on Tuesday after he replaced the timing belt, he stated that the car was still not starting and that the wall of the piston could have been dented when the belt snapped essentially ruining the motor. After me and my fiance consulted a different mechanic about this issue, he stated that a.) the initial computer diagnostic test should have read that one of the pistons was nonfunctional and b.) that it is impossible for a snapped timing belt to cause that kind of damage to the wall of the engine and that few possibilities of why the car is still not starting are because there are potentially debris in the motor and it needs to be flushed, the mechanic caused damage to the engine during the process of installing the timing belt, or that the chambers weren't reset or centered correctly after the installation of a new timing belt. When we called *** this morning, Wednesday, asking why a code wouldn't pop up for the nonfunctioning piston, he said that the computer would not read that code because of the specific engine that we have and that he is trying to find a new engine for the car. We suspect that *** was negligent in the diagnosis of the problem and made unnecessary repairs to the vehicle.
Costumers Vehicle was towed in , costumer called that he was driving and the vehicle had shut of on him , so when the vehicle got to the shop we had to do a diagnose to see what was the issue with the vehicle . and after diagnosing the vehicle we found that the timing belt was damaged , so I called the customer and told him that it would cost him $700.00 to repair his vehicle . so we installed a timing kit and when we finished installing the belt the vehicle would not start. so the customer vehicle has a interference engine , so that when the belt brakes automatically there is damaged to the inside of the engine , so he would have to replace the engine with a new engine or a good used engine, so I did not charge the customer for the parts we installed and I did not charge the customer any labor to install or remove the parts. all we charged the customer was the diagnostic . which was only $ 120.00 . so I don't understand why the customer made a complaint when I never told him that I was going to charge them $ 700.00 dollars when I told them that they said oh I thought you were going to charge us and we made a complaint to the Revdex.com. so bottom line there was no charge to them just a diagnose they came paid and the vehicle was towed out of the shop.
