Mr***'s company has not done anything with our back door to date. The company that sold that door has been taking care of this. The entire door jamb needs to be replaced because according to them, the door was not installed properly. They are going to do this for us, at our cost - unless Mr*** agrees to pay for this and at this time, he has not, that we are aware of.The $discount he gave us was given to us because the capping and caulking around the capping were done very poorly. He himself acknowledged this, hence the discount.

The door jamb still has not been replaced. We were told it would be done the middle of March. We have received no updates from anyone. The work that was done already to the door was NOT only not to our satisfaction but not to the satisfaction of ***, the distributor. Mr*** really needs to get his information correct before he replies to these. We have everything communicated to us in writing and are more than willing to provide it. The window still hasn't been replaced but today when we arrived home the window was just sitting at our house. I guess we are to install it ourselves.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[redacted] was contacted at the same exact time that it was brought to our attention that there was glass markings about the locking on the back door.  It was November 19th.  He was at our home a few days later, looked at the glass in our daughter's room - which anyone can clearly see is scratched on the inside, himself included.  He agreed it was scratched and also agreed to order us new glass for it.  He is correct that we were under the impression there was another window with the same issue and we needed to speak to our house cleaner to make sure which window it was.  We finally did tell him later in an e-mail she told us which window and that we did not see it so to go ahead and replace the glass in the other window.  That was on November 26th.  We never received a reply from him and we have yet to receive the glass for the window he said he did see the scratch on at that time.  Since we still have that window, and the scratches are on the inside, anyone can attest to this.  The same day that Mr. [redacted] came to look at the glass is the exact same day that he looked at our back door - not weeks later.  He tried locking it himself and could barely lock it.  He told us that day that he would get a guy up there to fix it right away, within the next week.  We also notated to him that we still don't have the grid for our back door and he said it had been ordered - to this day, we still do not have it.  Paid for it but don't have it.  By December 17th, no one had shown up to fix our back door yet - after two e-mails to which we got no reply, we called him that day (12/17) and he told us that his worker, [redacted], would be at our house on December 18th to fix it.  On December 18th, no one came.  We sent him an e-mail and we let him know that if we could not lock our door and someone broke into our home, we were holding him and his company liable (have said e-mail if you need a copy).  On December 19th, we can only assume after receiving said e-mail, his worked did show up and he gutted the door jamb around the strike plate to the point that he had to fill it with so much wood putty it would not dry.  He could not and did not use the original screws that came with strike plate - keep in mind we paid extra for composite wood door and jambs - not wood putty.  We called him and sent him pictures and text messages (we have his responses) to which he at the point blamed the manufacturer who originally installed the strike plate and next thing we knew we got a phone call from his door salesman asking to come up and take a look and see what he could do to fix it.  He came the next week (week of Christmas) and his exact words were "Did [redacted] see this?".  He told us he did not know if he could get a strike plate to cover it, he was going to contact the manufacturer and he would see what he could do.  He apologized profusely while reminding us that he was in between a rock and a hard place because Mr. [redacted] orders so much from his company but he was shocked at the quality of work he saw at our home.  Mr. [redacted] states that a new strike plate was installed on 1/17/2015 but that is incorrect.  As of this date, no new strike plate has yet been installed, no new grid has been delivered to our home for our back door (there was a delivery made but it was not the grid), and no new glass has been installed or delivered for our window either.  In regards to our front door, the door sales guy did take a look at the doors and did agree that it wasn't the way he would have done it but that in this case, he did not see anything wrong with the installation.  He did make recommendations to us on what could be done to improve the issues and he was going to e-mail us a list of those things as well as other door installers we could deal with but at this time, we haven' gotten that either.  With regards to the capping and caulking on our windows - that was not the first complaint we made to [redacted] during this process.  There were multiple complaints made about our garage, our basement door, our soffit, etc.  Multiple complaints - some of which he never bothered to fix and we let go.  Our neighbors will attest to issues we had with his workers, which was a major complaint (never showing up, coming for a few hours a day, coming drunk, etc.).  We have had 2 other contractors look at our windows and they did agree that while the caulking looked atrocious (you can see the 2 inches of caulking at the top of some of the windows coming down the road) and the fact that half the windows are nailed one way and the other half nailed another way, the capping would suffice through the winter and we could have someone else do it in the spring.  We have already hired someone else to fix and install shutters on the house and garage in the spring.  [redacted], when looking at the capping, completely agreed that the nailing should have been consistent all the way around the house and that they do it both ways but never on the same house.  He also agreed his wife would think it looked atrocious also.  He gave us the $700.00 off because of the shotty job his workers did, he saw that, agreed to it at that time and told us to use that money for shutters or to have someone fix it (exact words as he stood in our kitchen).  It was at that same time he stated that 75% of the people he does work for are just happy they are there doing the work and don't pay attention to the details.  The fact that Mr. [redacted] or [redacted], as I referenced him as both here, doesn't even know what has and has not been repaired at our home should show for something (the strike plate has already been repaired???).  We have pictures, e-mails and text messages to support almost everything we have made a complaint about which is how I know the dates.  Everyone keeps telling us how [redacted] really wants to fix this and make it right but he has yet to come to our home and take a look at what his guy did to our back door - his worker gutted it, just gutted it.  He offered, said he was going to come with the sales guy, [redacted], but never showed.  Nothing has been made correct yet.  Yes, he gave us our $700.00 discount but we can't even get that fixed until spring - by another contractor.  None of what he has done to this point has shown any want or need to make anything correct unless we have continually pushed and pushed him to get it fixed - and we still have things that aren't fixed.  Yet, he has been paid.
Regards,
[redacted]

id: [redacted]The manufacturer and door dealer have tried to just replace the strike plate first, this was not acceptable to the customer. I spoke with the dealer and he said entire jamb would then need replaced and I authorized them to order a new jamb to be installed at my cost. Enclosed is a copy, of the receipt for the new doorjamb, at no time did we tell the gerarges that they would be responsible for the cost of the new jamb. I have also authorized the dealer to install the new jamb since all attempts by my company to service the gerarges have been unsatisfactory. The jamb has to be produced and that takes time and is being handled by the door dealer. The [redacted] have been compensated for the capping ($700.00) which was done as per industry standards. The caulking is a sealant and if they recap the windows it will have to be recaulked. My goal is to service the gerarges to there satisfaction.Sincerely,[redacted]

Review: We hired this company to contracting work for us. From the start, we had issues. They were to start the job on a particular date and we were told the job they were on "found additional money to do more projects" so they need to back us up. The workers would not show up when they were supposed to show - this happened multiple times with no phone calls, etc. letting us know. We have issues still outstanding with them that they have yet to fix although they have been paid in full. At one point, it was well over a month and we could not lock our back door. It was fixed after we told them we hold them liable should anyone break into our home. We paid for upgraded items that the employees have ruined and the manufacturer and suppliers of these items are now trying to fix for the company but it again has been weeks for those issues and they have yet to be fixed. We currently have ice building up in our front door jamb, black wood, and ice on our kitchen floor all coming through our front door that they replaced. We paid for the composite wood on the door jambs, etc. and this will all be ruined should it not be fixed. Emailed company with picture and waiting to hear back from them. This has been months of ongoing issues and all we hear from the company owner is he is trying is best. At one point he told us that 80% of the people he does work for don't pay attention to the work, they are just happy they show up. When you pay someone in excess of $20,000 for work done, you would hope they can get it right the first time.Desired Settlement: We want the issues corrected as soon as possible and we want them fixed correctly before more items get ruined. His employees have shown up drunk, have not shown up at all, have ruined items that are still not fixed...we have pictures to show all this. We could be asking for more than what we are but these issues have been going on for more than days or weeks. It has been months. We did have other issues that he did credit us for but we can't get fixed until spring by other contractors.

Response:

I was contacted by the [redacted] for house repairs in Mid to end of August 2014. We had in negotiations for several months. The scope of the work consisted of building a front porch with roof, constructing a back roof over present deck, removal and reside existing garage, removal and new soffit and fascia for house and garage, two prefinished exterior doors with storm doors, two other entrance doors one in garage and one in basement, thirteen windows installed and capped, new lights and a light switch for an outside light. The job was started by the end of September and completed by the end of October. When job was completed there were several issues that the [redacted] did not like. The first issue was caulking and capping (completed) around several window frames, In the spirit of cooperation and in an attempt to keep the customer happy I offered and they accepted a $700.00 discount. Second issue was a bad piece of glass that had a mark between the panes of glass (I couldn’t see it) the glass was not ordered right away because Mr. [redacted] thought there might be a second piece of glass too. It was determined to be only that piece of glass and I ordered a new piece which is due in the week of 1/19/15. Several weeks later sometime around thanksgiving I was contacted again by the [redacted] that the back door was not locking, I sent an installer to adjust strike plate and this was done. In the process of adjusting the strike plate the installer had to move plate and he used wood putty to fill in area where old strike plate was, The [redacted] did not like the look of repair, at that time the door worked fine. I contacted my door salesman about this and he had to get custom made strike plate and it is to be installed Saturday January 17th Shortly there after the [redacted] contacted via e-mail that there was ice forming at the bottom of door threshold, at that time I contacted the same door represenative and he was to check the weatherstripping and threshold when he installed the strike plate. The pictures that the [redacted] sent were of stained wood trim around the door and ice transition strip. We used the old trim around door frames and the wood is black at bottom this would indicate that sweating had occurred at that point previously. In addition sweating occurrs when moisture comes in contact with a cold surface and the moisture content is high. I have made a good faith effort to address all the concerns and will continue to do so if possible.Sincerely,[redacted]
