On 10-06-we responded to this location in reference to replacing some plumbing fixtures. We spoke with the homeowner and he advised that they wanted the hose bibs outside replaced and wanted to replace the water main shutoff in the housed in the closet of the bedroom. We gave them a
quote for approx$to make the repairs and the homeowner agreed. We removed and replaced both hose bibs outside and replaced the main shut off valve inside the house. After making the repairs we tuned the water back on and went inside to check the repairs made and found that one of the fittings used to install the new main water valve had not sealed properly and caused water to leak onto the floor of the bedroom. We immediately put the fitting back in place and had the homeowner hold it together while we turned the water off. After turning the water off we went back inside and fixed the fitting by re-crimping the fitting. We then turned the water back on again to check for leaks and didn't find any other leaks. After we made the repairs we went to get a wet/dry vacuum cleaner and two air movers to dry the floor. The amount of time it took to go get the equipment was approx30-min. We used the vacuum cleaner to get the water up off the floor which was approxgals. The amount of water that we removed was just enough to fill up the vacuum cleaner. After removing the water we used the two air movers to dry the floor and carpet by floating the carpet. We left the air movers running when we left and told them to leave them on for a least a day or two. The air movers were left with the homeowners for three days if they needed them. We spoke with the homeowner that Sunday evening at approxhrs-2000hrs. She advised that the carpet was dry and had been dry since Saturday. At the time the homeowners were pleased with the work performed to remove the water and did not mention any other issues at the timeI J.WSmith went to the residence after the home owner called and said there was damage to the floorI met with Mrs*** husband on 10/16/and there was damage to the floor which was particle board about a 6'x6' area in the bedroom where the water leak was and the carpet was pulled backI further checked the other bedroom next to that one and there was no damageMrs*** husband further stated that he had *** *** to come out and give an estimate to repair the floor and carpet.But there was no soil stains on the carpet nor under itI told her husband that I deal with *** *** and I would get the estimate from himBut I did agree to replace the flooring that was damaged but not the carpet.Once I made contact with *** at *** *** on 10/20/he sent an estimate to me that he sent to the homeowners that was about $which was more than just that roomafter wards I made contact with her husband and I agreed to replace the carpet and have *** *** *** to replaced the floor that was damaged*** sent me an estimate to replace that area in the bedroom for $However I had also told her husband that the plumbing charges for $for the work we did would pay for the carpet to be replaced and he could use that money that he owes us to pay for the carpetThen he came back a few days later and said there was mold in that areaThere was no mold visible nor water stains only on the floor area.Further he stated there was mold under the sub floor and insulation under the homeI don't know what the condition the crawl space is but there is no vapor barrier in placeI told the home owners that I would agree to pay for the flooring and they could keep what was owed to us to pay for the carpetIt appears that the home owners want me to pay for unnecessary things that he did not cause.Also the home owners just purchased this home to flip it from what was told to my employeeAgain I will send the $to who ever repairs the floor and the home owner can use what they owe us to replace the carpet.You will also see what *** *** *** sent to me and the letter from *** *** *** showing what he statesJ.W.Smith
