12/15/16My name is Stephanie and I am the office manager for Quality Meats of MontanaIn regards to thiscustomer's complaint, I have several things to sayFirst of all, where he quoted me, he has grosslyexaggerated my responses to serve his agenda.A simple search online reveals that this is a very common complaint heard by processors all over thecountryUnfortunately, it's inevitable that out of the 700-animals processed in an eight-weekperiod, you'll have a handful of unhappy peopleCustomers, especially those who haven't regularlyprocessed game, over estimate the amount of meat that a deer/elk/antelope yieldsMy suggestion topeople who are hunters but don't process their own meat, is to visit a processor whether to work or justeducate themselvesThe realities of how the process works is eye opening. We have many locals who process their own game and bring in all of the meat to have made intosmokehouse itemsInterestingly, they bring in an average of 40-pounds of meat, confirming that the"take home" meat we end up with after processing is on par with what others are getting from theiranimals. The claim this customer made that we, sold his box of deer steaks, is unfounded and quite honestly, laughableWe are a USDA slaughter facility with thousands of pounds of choice, grain fed, MontanabeefNo one is interested in pilfering wild gameIn any given hunting season, an average of hunterssimply do not want their meat, so that meat gets DONATED to our local food bankThere is no secretblack market for stolen wild game.We apologize that we ground some of the meat that this customer wanted cut to steaksThe cutting isa judgement call by the butcherIf they don't feel it would make a decent steak, it gets groundThis isan issue that would vary from facility to facility as everyone has different opinions on what steaks shouldbe saved. To end my rebuttal to this submitted complaint, we regret that this customer didn't care for hisexperience at Quality Meats of MontanaThe basis for this complaint boils down to opinion, customerfeels he should have had more meat, but the amount of meat he was wanting just wasn't there. We wish this customer all the best in his future hunts and hope he finds what he is looking for atanother fine Montana processing facility
