Took my car there to get a new heater core put in, fuel filter, and to check my alternator. They put in heater core, fuel filter, and said my battery was bad; so they put a new battery on. They said mass airflow sensor was bad and put new one on. I ok'd above repairs. My car ran perfectly fine when I dropped it off, I just needed my heater to work. They called and said that it was ready to pick up; but when I got there they asked me to come in the shop because they had some problems with my car and they didn't know what was wrong. When they started my car it sounded like a ragged out deisel; it sounded like a sewing machine when I dropped it off. I went home told them to figure it out @ went home. They called the next day and said that it had jumped time while in their shop @ that they were not responsible the damage @ that I still owed them for the other repairs or they would keep my car. They also added things to the bill that I had not approved to fix. Then I feel like they tried to scam me even more by saying that they could "probably fix it; but no garantee that it would fix it" for an extra $700 or up to $1200 if it bent the valves. My original bill was $750. They told me that I was 100% liable for them messing up my car. That does not at all seem right! So basicly they are trying to charge me $750 for messing up my car that was running just fine when I dropped it off. I later went back to try and resolve the matter, just so that I could get my car back, I told them that I would pay for the parts but didn't think that I should have to pay for the labor. I thought that was a very fair compromise since they messed up my car; but they said that they had to have all of it and that it was my fault that the car messed up in their possesion and that they were not liable for anything. How can they justify that to themselves? They want me to pay $750 for them to mess my car up and are telling me that they will keep my car @ charge me for every day that it is in their parking lot. I'm not a sucker!

The customer brought the vehicle into our shop to have a variety of repairs done. Before we repaired anything, we called and got approval for all work. He approved, and we fixed his heater core, heater hose, battery, fuel filter, brake sensor, and mass air flow sensor. The customer denied fixing his gas tank venting problem. These repairs totalled $747.72 and the customer was called and told that his vehicle was done and ready to be picked up. When the mechanic backed the vehicle out of the shop, the timing belt jumped a couple of notches. At the time we did not know this was the case, so when the owner came to pick up his vehicle we told him that something had happened, and we would figure it out and call him. We diagnosed what had happened as the timing belt jumping a couple of notches, and the secretary called the customer to tell him. The customer then cussed the secretary, and told her that it was the businesses fault that the belt had jumped. This was not the case, the mechanics found a mouse nest packed with debris and insulation in the timing area, and it had blocked the normal working of the belt, which was the cause of the belt jumping. It was pure coincidence that the incident happened here. It could have happened anywhere, because when the belt is ready to jump, it will jump. Someone can only stop it by having the belt replaced beforehand. The secretary told the owner of the vehicle this information, which he disputed. We informed the customer that we could fix the timing belt issue, and it would cost $700+, or he could pick up his vehicle after he paid his bill from the work we had already done. He refuses to pay, and we can not release the car without payment. He came in the first week of February saying he would only pay for the parts, and not the labor for the work that was done. Also, he would not pay for any of the timing issues, but wanted us to fix it all at our expense. When we told him that we could not do that, he proceeded to cuss out the owner in the office with the secretary as a witness, and went onto the parking lot and damaged another customer's vehicle. The secretary had to call the police to report the incident, and to have them remove the customer from the lot for the time being. The vehicle is also hindering more business being done by taking up a spot in our shop lot, so we mailed the customer a letter informing him of his cost and telling him that he needs to pick up his vehicle or we will start charging a daily storage fee as of February 10th. He is aware of this, and still has not paid or picked up the vehicle.We can provide pictures and or a copy of the letter if needed.
