Quality Roofing & Construction Reviews (1)

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/05/01) */
On October 10, 2014 Quality Roofing & Construction finished a bedroom addition at the home of Mrs.
Stevenson's, [redacted]'s mother. [redacted] was my main contact during this project. Our main
form of communication was via...

phone.
Flooring Liquidators sent out their own installer on October 16, 2014 to install the laminate hardwood
flooring. After completion of the job I went out to install the baseboards and do a physical inspection. I
asked the installer if he had any issues installing the flooring and he said, "No everything went in great".
After the baseboards and door trim installation I did not hear any squeaking of the floors, which I walked
on for two days.
[redacted] contacted me via phone around February 2015 to look at the flooring because she stated that an
area in front of the bed squeaked when she walked on it. This was about four months after the flooring
was installed. Why didn't [redacted] contact us earlier about this issue if she claims it has been like this
from day one? When [redacted] contacted me, my first thought was that it might be a moisture problem.
Upon inspection of the floor, I found it to have a slight squeak when walked on in an approximate 2 x 2
foot area, I did not hear any popping. I want to be clear on this, the flooring looked great and it did not
stick up or was soft and/or spongy when walked on, just a slight squeak in one area.
I recommended that [redacted] wait until the temperatures warmed up so we can be sure moisture and/or
swelling where not the cause of the squeaking; such as high humidity, spills or the indoor dogs which
made a habit of urinating on the floor. This was a common occurrence when we were finishing the
room and I had to clean up a large puddle of dog urine off the wood floor in order to work in the room
to install base boards, in the exact location the floor squeaks. [redacted] had very little patience with me
and did not believe it to be a moisture problem. [redacted] asked me if she could call Flooring Liquidators
directly to see what their resolution might be. I told her that would be fine since Flooring Liquidators
did the installation and had also installed flooring in her home. I asked [redacted] to call me if Flooring
Liquidators would not assist her so that I could contact Flooring Liquidators, the installer, and/or the
flooring manufacturer directly. I did not hear back from [redacted] until I received a complaint from the Revdex.com.
[redacted] said she tried to email me four or five times with no response, but email had never been our primary means of communicating. Unfortunately, the email that she used was an old email address and I am sorry for the oversight as this email address is to be deleted this year.
If [redacted] would have simply called my cell phone or office I would have answered right away. I am shocked that she filed a complaint with the Revdex.com without calling me as we had a strong working relationship throughout the room addition and discussed the job progress on a daily basis. I also informed her if Flooring Liquidators removes the flooring and finds water or urine stains and swelled flooring; the manufacture may not cover the product unless it is defective. At that point I had not noticed any workmanship issues.
Resolution:
I am happy to contact Flooring Liquidators, the installer and/or the flooring manufacturer to address [redacted]'s concern with her floor as I originally told her I would. After inspection, we can determine the next course of action. It is necessary to have the installer and/or manufacture look at the floor to determine the cause of squeaking.
I personally feel this complaint should be withdrawn by the Revdex.com do to the fact it is solely based on not replying to an email that I did not receive. I believe everyone should be notified either by a phone call or Certified mail before filing a complaint and have a chance to find a resolution. [redacted] did neither of these things.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
Owner
