Quality Thrift Reviews (1)

Review: About in September I walked into Quality Thrift in El Cajon, Ca. and spotted a slot machine in the store. The slot machine did not have a price on it, so I asked the lady in the store how much the machine was. She told me she had it for 20 years and would have to ask her family if they wanted it. She also stated it doesn't work anymore, that it stopped working. I was going to buy it for a friend of mine that sells and services slot machines. I came back a few weeks later when I was in the area and contacted the same lady and she told me it was $200 and she would sell it. Since I have back problems and a bad heart I had her associate put in my car and that is why I don't want the pressure of going back in there without your help. I had someone unload in my garage and let it sit there because my friend wouldn't be back in town for a few weeks. In the mean time I think he wanted to know what model it was so I had to drill out the lock since I didn't get a key with the machine. When I opened the back of the machine there was not anything inside..the gears and movement were gone. When I bought it I was told that the lady had it and it just stopped working. Isn't that what they call fraud?Desired Settlement: I should be refunded my money and the people should be dealt with.

Response:

In response to complaint number [redacted]. In June, not September, my mother sold a slot machine to mr. [redacted]. [redacted]. She told mr. [redacted] she bought the slot machine as-is and the slot machine did not work. She did not have keys to open the slot machine to show mr. [redacted]. The electrical cord did not have a plug. Mr. [redacted] knows this before buying the slot machine. She told mr. [redacted] that the slot machine is sold as-is!

Mr. [redacted] returned 2 more times after he purchased the slot machine. He was seeking more slot machines to buy. My mother said "it's hard to find old slot machines, because old slot machines are hard to come by".

There is no fraud because my mother told mr. [redacted] that the slot machine did not work, as stated by mr. [redacted]. He knew that the machine did not function. She also has a sign posted by the cash register for all customers to see. It states "All merchandises sold as-is, no refund, no exchanges!". She has this business for 27 years, this is the first incident that this has happened. She hopes this will resolve this situation!!!

Thank you,

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

In responds to the answer on my complaint which took along time is a lie. As stated I was told that the slot machine was owned about 20 years and it stopped working. To my meaning that it stopped working means that when she owned it that one point and time it did work. I guess we will have to let the court to decide. I was in business for many and never lied to make a sale. I'm sure the community would like to know to stay away from this business.

Thx
