On June 15, 2016 received a call from [redacted] in regards to a clogged drain. I went to [redacted], Bear De on June 16, 2016. [redacted] informed me that the residence had been occupied by renters for an extended period of time, who in her words "tore the place up". After...

arriving on the job site with my 17 year old son and another employee I engaged in conversation with [redacted] about personal family information, and then we moved on to discuss the problem at hand.[redacted] brought me to the basement and showed me where her son took a pipe apart (where he thought the "problem" was). She asked me if I could put the pipe back together, cheap? I told her and her son that I could give them the parts list needed to reassemble the pipe. Her son agreed to do it to save his elderly mom the money. I then located the problem in the pipe outside of the house. I explained to [redacted] that it needed to be high pressure jetted in order to clear the clog. She agreed on the work to open the drain. I then opened the lid to the septic tank to find elevated levels of liquid, which is an indicator of a failed drain field. We proceeded to jet the pipe from the septic tank to the house, which is the proper procedure for jetting. When questioned by [redacted] explained that you must jet the clog to the tank, versus pushing it back into the home. I then warned her that there might be residual liquid from cleaning the pipe. We placed a large bucket under the open pipe to capture any remaining liquid. I also advised her not to be in the basement while the work took place.Contrary to what [redacted] stated, after the procedure personally aided in the clean-up of any sewage that was not captured in the bucket. After we cleaned up, the toilets were again in working order. After the completion of the work, explained to [redacted] that this is a temporary fix and that there will eventually be more issues as her septic system is failing. [redacted] then stood around and talked about "life" and family. She gave all indications that she was satisfied with the work done, as she inquired about the money owed for the work completed. I told her would send her an invoice. She proceeded to give me her current address to send the invoice. As I left the job site that day she was a 100% satisfied customer. She stated no dissatisfication or concern about the work done.I would like to add that we are a small, family owned business that takes pride in our A+ rating on [redacted] and multiple high reviews. We stand behind all our work. We certainly do not take advantage of the elderly, we take the time to explain procedures and in many cases develop personal relationships with our customers. The majority of our work is received by word of mouth from satisfied customers. Sadly, I believe this a case of a customer not wanting to pay for work completed. I wish that [redacted] would have contacted me directly with any questions or concerns in regards to her invoice. I would have gladly explained the pricing and set up a reasonable payment plan that would have made her comfortable.
