Dear *** ***, We are responding to your letter received on Wednesday, October 25thRevdex.com Complaint ID ***. Our clients *** and *** *** ordered and purchased cupcakes for their wedding on September 2, As a free add-on, we purchased and provided a
cupcake stand set for this couple to borrow for the cupcake displayThe cupcake stand set consists of the stand itself and a black carrying case/bagThe stand is clearly labeled as property of Queen of Cakes and also labeled that it must be returned with it’s black carrying case/bagLikewise, the carrying case/bag is also labeled that it must be returned with the cupcake stand. We deliver to *** Golf Course often, and their catering manager has packed our cupcake stands in our carrying case/bags on multiple occasionsThe catering manager has informed us that they are very familiar with our stands, carrying cases and our setup processWhen we delivered and set up *** and ***’s cupcakes, we placed the black carrying case/ bag underneath the cake table. As we always do at ***, we informed one of the setup staff of the location of the carrying case bag. After the *** wedding, one of *** and ***’s family members came to Queen of Cakes and presented a trash bag containing the cupcake standAlso in the trash bag, was a Bakery rack cover and a packet containing a Shout cleaning wipe (two items that we keep in every cupcake stand carrying case in order to keep our stands clean and looking neat.) After the Queen of Cakes staff member informed the family member that no refund could be issued until the carrying case/ bag was returned, the family member told us that he had “seen that somewhere” and would return the carrying case the following day. From this information, we deduce that *** and *** had the carrying case in their possession at some point, otherwise they would not have returned the Bakery rack cover and Shout wipe that are stored in the black carrying case/bag. We are retaining *** *** $security deposit because our stand was not returned ‘complete’ as a setThese carrying case/bags are necessary for transportation and inventory purposesWe feel that *** *** is unwilling to come to an agreement that will create a win-win situation for both parties, even though Queen of Cakes is not at fault for any discrepancies. For the record, Queen of Cakes does not receive any profit from loaning out our cake standsIt is simply something that we do in order to add value and ease to couples on their wedding dayWe only asking for a security deposit in the event that a stand is damaged or returned incomplete. We would also like to note that we have not received any notifications of this complaint prior to your certified letterWe are a small business and all of our mail is personally handed to us by our mail carrierUpon investigation, the phone call from the Revdex.com on October 17th had a duration of seconds according to our Comcast call logI would like to advise the Revdex.com to leave a message so that we have the opportunity to return your call in the future, as well as the knowledge that you are trying to reach us. We appreciate your thoughtful consideration in this matter. Sincerely, Terri *** -- *** *** *** EDINA MN ###-###-#### ...."but make me thereof a little cake first"Kings 17:

While the stand may be clearly labeled, I would like to remind Queen of Cakes that the contract doesn't state anything about the black carrying case nor was it ever verbally discussed with us or the venue. Queen of Cakes stated that they work closely and regularly with [redacted] Golf Course. This makes us believe that a statement from Deb [redacted], the event manager, would be enough confirmation for Terri to realize that there was an error on Queen of Cake's end. We have been in contact with Deb throughout this whole process and she has checked with every staff member working the night of our wedding, and not a single employee ever saw or heard anything about a black carrying bag. If needed, Deb would be happy to vouch for us as an unbiased third party.I would also like to note that we never returned the "Bakery rack cover and a packet containing a Shout cleaning wipe", because again, we or the venue never received them. I personally put all items we were provided in the "trash bag". I actually cleaned the cupcake tier stand off with our own paper towels prior to loading in to my father in law's car so he could deliver to Queen of Cakes. My father in law would also be happy to comment that he never made a statement insinuating that he had seen the carrying case. Queen of Cakes is in fact profiting from loaning out this bag as Terry admitted to me that the bag is not worth more than $35 - that is a $140 profit. We have not experienced value or ease from this entire process and would look to Queen of Cakes to be a reputable business and stand behind their contract as opposed to what is "labeled on the stand". I would also like to remind Queen of Cakes that I did attempt to make a "win win" situation by offering to cover the cost of the bag and for us to be refunded the difference. Queen of Cakes refused to accept this option. Therefore, as an extremely dissatisfied customer, I am still seeking the resolve of a full refund of the $175 deposit.
