Review: Went to [redacted] for a consultation for veneers for my 13 year old daughter, as per her orthodontist, I called explained the situation and the receptionist took me in for an appointment and NEVER told me that there is a CONSULTATION FEE. Showed up the day off appointment and filled out paperwork and no one makes me aware of a consultation fee, go in saw the dentist for 10 min spoke and then he starts showing me a video of his son playing soccer (which I guess he wanted to be friendly) gives the price of $1900 for his job and walks me to the reception area, spoke to office manager [redacted] (still no words about consultation fee) gives me the breakdown of the price and an application for a credit card which they (dentist office) takes 9% and then adds that to your new card with zero interest for 18 months, told her I will speak to my husband and left the office, 20 minutes later [redacted] calls me to tell me they FORGOT to tell me there is a consultation fee of $50, I told her I WAS NOT aware of this and it wasn't fair to charge me AFTER I was there and left 20 min later. I told her now my mind has been made up and I DO NOT trust your office to have any job done, I would of appreciate it if EVERYTHING was told to me up front, so I could of made the decision of still going forward with the appointment. She apologized and she said she forgot to tell me.. I said REALLY? I went to two different dentist and NO ONE charged me for a consult. I have spoken to the dentist and explained this to him and his answer was, DO YOU THINK MY TIME IS NOT VALUABLE and that to me was out of line, my time is valuable too he was 15 min late for the appointment and told me he was stuck in traffic is my time NOT valuable I had to go to work. I believe its not fair to charge me $50 after the fact of it all, after I stepped away from his office I received a call 20 min later telling me they FORGOT to tell me about the consultation fee. I hope you can help..Thank youDesired Settlement: I DO NOT want to be responsible for the consultation fee that I was NOT aware of, If I would of been told then that would of been my choice to continue with the appointment or not.

Response:

This patient was a new patient referred to our office. This patient was informed of a fee for a consultation and x-rays prior to being seen. She did not want any x-rays thus her fee was adjusted appropriately.

An extensive consultation was done and the patient was informed of her possible treatment. Extra time was spent with the patient and her mom as this would be a difficult cosmetic case. A follow up with her orthodontist was done mid the patient's mom was called afterward to discuss the potential outcome. After reading her complaint, it is obvious that by going from dentist to dentist, she was only looking for the least expensive price and had no intention of paying her consultation fee to our office after hearing the price she was given. A consultation fee to a new patient for a cosmetic case is not unreasonable.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I have read the letter sent to you from Queens Village

Dental, as I was reading the entire letter I couldn’t believe what I was

reading and found it offensive and unprofessional to say that I was going from

dentist to dentist looking for the least expensive, this is my 13 year old daughter we are talking

about I am Not looking for the cheapest I am looking for the BEST for her. I

believe I have every right to search for the proper dentist that would have

been doing the job. I would appreciate

if I was told when I was doing the appointment for the consultation. I refused x-rays when my daughter was being

brought into the consultation. I turned around and said what x-rays, no need

she just had her teeth cleaned by her dentist and this is a consultation for

bonding or veneers, no need for x-rays. I finally went to her orthodontist explained

what happened and he was embarrassed for this dentist behavior. I also went to her general dentist and

explained that [redacted] wanted to do veneers on her and she gave me her

professional opinion and told me not to do it she is only 13 years old it

wasn’t a good idea to start doing something major in her teeth, she is too

young to have this extensive work. When

her braces were removed her orthodontist suggested to get bonding or

veneers. He referred me to [redacted] and

[redacted] told me he doesn’t like to work with bonding it is a cheap job he

prefers veneers and it was going to be $1900 plus a 4% if I put it on a citi

healthcard.

I decided not to do anything to her teeth until she is

older, her orthodontist is aware and has agreed with me as well, he agrees with

her primary dentist, which I found it a little odd knowing that he was the one

that advised me to go to [redacted], but perhaps he did agree with me after he

heard the story with Queens Village Dental.

As I have said it before, NO ONE brought it to my attention about a

consultation fee or x-rays, then to be called 20 min later after I left their

office to charge me for a consult, I found it a bit odd and incorrect on their

part.

Thank you, and I hope this doesn’t continue with other

patients. I’m in the healthcare business

and have never thought that a doctor’s office would do this, you MUST inform

your patients during appointment scheduling of any fees not after patient left

the medical office.

Sincerely,

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

Once again, this patient was informed by our office of her charges prior to her being seen. When she stated that she did not want x rays, her fee was adjusted for a consultation only.
