Review: On September ** of this year, as, on the dashboard, a light warning light came on, I drove my car (2008 camry hybrid with battery pack seal intact with no prior repairs on any of the hybrid components of the car) into the nearest dealership (Queensboro Toyota) to have it diagnosed. Low voltage battery check hybrid system. I said to myself "no problem", with under 71,000 miles on it and all hybrid components under warranty 'till 100,000 miles, why worry. Well, advisor Mora with his elusive, deceptive and without any concern for what he was told, was there to hijack me for an obscene amount. I specifically told him not to touch the recalls issued for the car, as I did not want to do them there. He, Mora A, listed them as job #1 and job # 2. I was due for an oil change and asked him do do that and upgrade me for synthetic oil. He acknowledged as being a "free oil change" as I get it FOR FREE FOR LIFE, but it turned out to NOT BE FREE. After going back and forth, Mora A., advisor at this establishment admitted doing work inside the hybrid battery, which was again sealed with warranty NOT voided, came with an invoice of $661.92 ($583 for labor and $24.96 for parts) for me to pay anyway. Well, ladies and gentleman, it was time for me to go get the car out and pay for it, but wanted to talk to the owner and bring him up to speed to what's going on there and to express my anger and profound disapproval of the outcome. The owner (senior, the old man not the son) listened to what I had to say (6days later) and told me that I'd actually get all the money back if I was right but needed to talk to the advisor and promised to get back to me in the following 2-3 business days . That was on Sunday [redacted] and today is Sunday [redacted] and never got back to me and with the car basically sitting since [redacted], and 90 miles later the car is in the same shape as I drove it into Queensboro toyota. Low voltage battery and $661.92 less in my pocket due to incompetence, ignorance and greed for money .Desired Settlement: $583 in in overcharged labor + tax (total$634) for work done on parts with warranty and let other dealership redo what you , Queensboro toyota, were not able or not willing to do

Response:

upon further inspection we found the hybrid battery to be defective- we replaced it under the vehicles warranty for no charge to the customer. we also reimbursed him half of his previous expenditure. the customer is satisfied.[redacted]general manager

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Have not been reimbursed yet, as the general manager suggested. As this case moves forward and after I encountered a little bit of a resistance on the part of the service manager reimbursing me for the full amount I initially asked to be reimbursed, I, willingly, said that I'd be OK with half of that. Being OK with the outcome is just not the same as being satisfied. I am not neither in possession of a check at this time nor my credit card was credited. The establishment should let me know when the check would be available for me to pick up and, YES, I'm OK with half of it.

Review: Brought my 2009 Camry in for service and annual inspection. Requested oil change and inspection. I was told my car failed inspection due to the power steering shaft needing replacement at a cost of $460.00. Since I have had prior issues with Queensboro Toyota, I was apprehensive about believing this diagnosis. Arrived at 9:30 am, did not leave until 2:00 pm with only a oil change performed. Four and one half hour for an oil change. My inspection sticker was removed, I was charged the $37.00, since you must pay whether you pass or fail. I took my car to Advantage Toyota in [redacted], New York for the annual inspection and as soon as my car was put onto the machine, it passed the inspection. Further, my power steering shaft was examined and I was told it was in very good condition.Desired Settlement: Reprimand on the fraudulent inspection given. The mechanic and Supervisor swayed the outcome of the inspection. Seervicee given at this dealership, on too many occasions been less than trustworthy. A sting operation should be performed on their practices. Use a female decoy and they will be caught red handed. I am still highly motivated to bring a lawsuit against them for fraudulent service practices. They are thieves.

Response:

I don't much care about a settlement. The NYS inspection they gave me was bogus, so they should reimburse the $37.00 they charged for it. I want the public to know the scammers they are and think twice about using this particular dealership for service or buyiing cars. They are a ripoff.

We inspected the 2009 toyota camry belonging to [redacted] on august **,2013. the vehicle clearly demonstrated binding and stiffness in turning the steering wheel. as you can per the attached document that is a failure for new york state inspection. the technician followed the correct protocol and removed the inspection sticker and the car was rejected. this was the appropriate action in following the law. having received the complaint I immediately placed a call to the consumer who has an excellent history with our company. i'm willing to cover the steering shaft as a good will gesture at no cost. the customer hasn't returned my phone call.

Response:

Queensboro Toyota stands by its tech. He applied DMV state inspection requirements properly in failing the vehicle. I did research the matter including reading inspection guidelines. Be aware the inspector can lose his license for not propely applying the law. The other dealer didn't take the appropriate action. Queensboro Toyota stands by its offer to replace the steering shaft at no charge to the customer to demonstrate its good will. We feel horrible that the customer doesn't have faith in us. We would like to rebuild the relationship with her.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

This was not my first negative experience with Queensboro Toyota, this was just the straw that broke the camel's back. The claim that they stand by their technician is acceptable for their quality of service at this particular dealership. I have made a decision to never step foot in that Toyota establishment again. I have owned five brand new cars in my life and have always preferred to service my cars at the dealership of purchase. I neither make situations up, nit pick or lie. I merely want to get my car honestly serviced, pay my bill and be on my way. Others may be satisfied with Queensboro Toyota, I can honestly say, I was not and I will not lower my standards or go against my expectations of a quality service experience for my vehicle.

I am satisfied with this choice and I choose to pass on the offer made via the response provided by Queensboro Toyota.

Response:

the company that guarantees the value of the extended warranty went out of business. this contract was directly between the consumer and that company and therefore queensboro toyota has no responsibility to cover it. however as a goodwill gesture the dealership sent the customer 400 dollars. the consumer is happy with that and expressed thanks. feel free to contact me with any further questions at ###-###-#### or via email at [redacted]

thanks

Review: In late May, I put down a 1000 deposit on a lease of a Prius C at Queensboro Toyota. The lease was dependent on my satisfactory test drive of the vehicle. When I went back in to test drive the vehicle later in the week, the dealership did not have the car ready and did not even have access to the car. The manager on duty, [redacted], was rude to me. I then decided not to lease from this unprofessional dealership, and requested my deposit be refunded. I was told that I would be mailed a check for the amount of 1000. I did not receive a check, and called in June to see if it had ever been sent. [redacted] told me that a check was sent, but to the wrong address. I made sure he had the correct address, and [redacted] told me a new check would be sent. Weeks later, I still had not received a check. I called Toyota customer service to try and resolve the situation with the dealership. Queensboro customer service contacted me, and my partner went in to collect the check for me on 8/**/13. The dealership had a check written out with my name backwards and an incorrect address. After waiting at the dealership for this to be resolved, my partner was still not given a check, and he left. I still have not gotten my money back, after 3 months.Desired Settlement: A $1000 check issued to me, and mailed to me, from the dealership. I also want it to be publicly known that this business is unprofessional.

Review: I purchased my Toyota Corolla from Queensboro Toyota less than a year ago and my vehicle has been serviced a few times already, needing repairs that should not be required for a new car, with less than 5,000 miles.Desired Settlement: I believe that I should have my car replaced with a new vehicle, as this car does not function properly.

Business

Response:

[redacted]

This customer complained about several things wrong with her car. There was some previous service work with the car that we believe resolved the issues. The vehicle wasn’t brought to our facility again. The customer requested and made an arbitration case. She didn’t show up for it and consequently the arbitrator ruled in favor of the manufacturer, Toyota. We are still willing to look at the car and investigate any issues. The consumer has requested the return of her car and refund of all monies paid. We are not willing to do so.

Thanks
