Lied to me.
I called her Monday January 30th
And asked her how much will her tax services cost us to file and get back on a quick return.
She told me $250 plus $50 the bank will charge.
Total being $300.
I just received my return and she charged me $420. Plus 13.95(transmission fee paid to transmitter.
Plus $39.95 (Refund transfer processing fee)
Total charge $474.00

Billing Adjustment To be refunded $174. She told me her fee was $250.00 Plus $50.00 bank fees. Total should have been $300.00 She did not honor her price she told me. I called her and asked her why was there a discrepancy,she said her fees went up,then told me sorry maybe next year she can give me a discount. I asked her to refund me the difference of $174.00. She said I can not do that. She called back minutes later, said she has my refund in her office, which turned out to a written check from her. Crocks!
is a regular tax client of my company. I have prepared tax returns for her for the past several years. We have always been very cordial and never any issues or complaints.
I spoke with her on January 30 in the middle of my busy tax day. I gave her my average pricing for preparing tax returns which is $250 for a basic return and additional fees if she chooses to use the Bank Product offered by company. This is offered when a client does not have the money to pay upfront to have their taxes done.
I asked her to let me know when she is ready and to please send me her tax docs and all paperwork necessary to prepare the return. She did not respond for the next couple of weeks. She then contacted the office and asked to email her a copy of the prior year tax return because she did not get a chance to pick it up last year. So I did. She said she did not receive it. So I had my secretary to emailed it again and again. I called her myself to make sure that she did receive it. She was driving at the time and finally she said "yes, I have it".
I then waited possibly another week for her documents. I made a phone call to her to ask and she said, it's the same as last year. I asked about her dependents, still married filing jointly, any W2 or 1099's and asked if she had a business. She said "yep, all same as last year".
I asked her to send me updates on the numbers, but she said "same as last year, nothing changed". Reluctantly, I proceeded to prepare her return. She has a cleaning business and no documents. This is a business and an additional fees for filing the Schedule C-Profit & Loss form in its complexity was charged. My tax prep fees are lower than most accounting/tax firms. I am a sole, independent tax office and I do not compete with the market prices of tax preparation. I feel that her tax preparation charge for services was nominal.
I called and gave her the refund amount, asked if she wanted to deposit into her bank account. She said, yes, it is the same bank as last year. I said ok, because this bank account was used to deposit her return in the prior year and was already in the tax system. I told her she should receive her refund in possibly 8-10 days which is the normal turnaround time when e-filing a return.
When she did not receive the refund from IRS in 8 days, she called the office inquiring about the refund. I checked and IRS had a delay in processing all tax returns which included Child Tax Credits and Earned Income Credi
