QuickStart Ignition Interlock Reviews (35)

[redacted].

I am Sorry to hear that your frustrating experience.  I understand you lost your ID and credit card which left you only with a check as your means to pay at the time you came in for your appointment.  Unfortunately,  we had serious issues with taking...

checks in the past and it is company policy not to take them as a method of payment.  i understand you came in on that scheduled day but were not monitored due to the situation of payment.  I looked at your  account and removed the $35 fee for the afterhours call.  I also removed the $25 fee for not having a form of acceptable payment at the time of monitoring.  Please note that we install for free and this is a loss to the company the client leaves before 6 months.  With that said I will notate the account to accept half the cost to remove the device.  That will be the only cost when you come in.  Regards

Mr [redacted],I have reviewed your account, read all notations made on the account and spoke with the Customer service manager.  At QuickStart Interlock we take all  complaints seriously and resolve the issues if our review shows wrong doing by our company.  In reviewing your...

account you missed 10 out of the 12 appointments you had with our company.  Our device, like all the other interlock devices on the market, does not allow the vehicle to  start if the user misses their appointment by more than 3 days.  You missed 9 of your 12 appointments, without calling in, by more than 3 days.  On each occasion we gave you a code to start your vehicle so you could drive your vehicle.  We were more than accommodating considering the circumstances. Furthermore, our missed appointment fees are of the lowest in the industry at $25.  Most companies are $50-$75.  Attached is the agreement you signed and agreed to stating that a missed appointment incurs a $25 fee (see paragraph 9). We are very transparent with our fee schedule.  We highlight them and point them out upon install and even have large billboards placed in each store lobby. We do not see any justification for restitution.

I posted a review of the lack of customer service and over all experience of this horrible organization. I am now being harassed on [redacted] thatI am a drunk, killer, thug and other profane accusations. Sasha N and Jessica F also have gone onto other businesses where I gave a positive review and slandered that company saying my poor judgemnet of being a child killer is why I left the review. Also they are slandering all other interlock companies and saying to go to Quick Start. This is all documented and I will also be contacting the MVD to have an investigation from them as well.

Review: I need to start by saying this is the second time I have had to put in a complaint for this company. I also want to say that they laughed at me when the first one was put in and I have been told by the company's employees that customers will need the service to be have a drivers license so a complaint does not matter much to them. No the other issue was never resolved by them but unfortunately I'm not able to afford an attorney.

This time around I am glad to say the DMV has sent me a letter stating I am able to discontinue my service with Quick Start. When I first started with the company I specifically asked if I was under contract to keep the service for a year and I was told I was not. I asked this question because I knew I was eligible to stop the service after 6 months. Quick Start is now trying to charge me a fee of $95 to uninstall the device from my vehicle early. I also prepaid for a months worth of service when I told the employee I would have to cancel the service after only 1 week after I got the letter from the DMV. They are telling me this was part of the contract I agreed to but when you sign the contract they make you sign it on a blank signing pad prior to showing you the contract, I can take pictures and send them.

Concern number 2

I have complained to the company several that because I have a hybrid vehicle the device sometimes does not recognize I have turn on my car -they have a recording of this happening over 50 times when this happens once the vehicle is running sometimes on the highway the device makes a really loud noise and orders you to pull over turn the vehicle off and restart the car in my case it has not caused me to have accident but I really consider it be be dangerous. They should at the least give a warning when you are installing into a hybrid car.Desired Settlement: I don't think it's fair for them to keep the money you paid for a months service when you don't keep the service for a month and you tell then you won't need it that long. I don't think I should pay then to uninstall when I told then the service was only needed for 6 months. I think they should give you paperwork on what they expect you to sign beforehand. And to finish they should at least provide a warning to customers with a hybrid car.

Response:

Ms [redacted],QuickStart Ignition interlock regrets that you believe you had a poor experience. The charges you are disputing are clearly outlined in the agreement you signed in January of 2015. Please review paragraph 5 on the first page of the agreement. I have attached a copy of the for your review. The past complaint was considered resolved as there was not any supporting documentation of QuickStart causing an issue with your steering wheel controls or radio issues. We had 3 different techs evaluate this issue and could not find any correlation to the interlock. Furthermore the dealership you took the vehicle to, per your supporting documentation, did not either. QuickStart interlock takes customer complaints seriously. In this case we did not find any wrong doing on our side. Regards

Review: After receiving a DUI, I chose to do my interlock term with this company. Upon entering into the contract of 12-months paid in full up front (receiving one month of service free) and the use of a coupon (coupon stated: 20% off first month, free installation, and free removal), I chose to pay in full as it seemed like a good idea/deal. The company seemed honorable, but did not honor their verbal contract nor the contract associated with the coupon's terms and promotional terms, which never stated a full 12-month usage was mandatory. After 6 months, I was able to get my last 6 months of my interlock term deferred with the courts, and subsequently able to have my interlock removed. The interlock device was removed on 4/22/13 with a remaining balance of $-301.64. I have since been in to the office more than 4 times and called nearly a dozen times, being told various scenarios from the reimbursement check writer was gone, to "...the owner is off doing owner stuff," to the check is already in the mail, to the owner is in a meeting and won't have time to call you back. The run-around that I've been getting for more than 90 days has been exhausting. Currently the customer service employees won't help me resolve the matter nor get me in touch with anyone who will resolve the matter. Each time I call they say they owe me less and less money for various (non-agreed-to) stipulations and contrary to what was originally stated. Additionally, no resolve (refund) is promised for any specified time and all previous 'orders for reimbursement' are somehow nonexistent.Desired Settlement: I would like my refund for the $301.64 as shown on my de-installation report dated 4/22/13. I would like the funds preferably in cash, as this is a shady business, or if the funds are good, a check will suffice.

I empathize with you on this situation and apologize about your prolonged wait for reimbursement. Your reimbursement amount would have been $241.64: 5 months monitoring less $95 for 6 month deferral removal fee, and a withholding of the free month for 12 month payment. However as an act of goodwill I am discarding the removal fee, allowing for the free month for prepayment and adding back two month of lease fees. A check has been cut for a total reimbursement of $449.00. We apologize for the inconvienance this has caused.

Sincerely,

QuickStart Interlock

This Company is terrible. Like the other guy said, every month they claim im missing tests, which is automatically 35$ for every test. When you bring it to them they always talk you through the same questions about if you have your music up and if you have a light that comes on when its time to take a test. Then they say you legitly miss the test and when it's time to pay the minimum monthly payment, boom, its now more per test. On top of that, getting locked out for 5 minutes in our heat because of eating something long before the test such as a banana or a sandwich. This company is full of con artists running a sketchy business. I wouldn't give them my money if I knew more about what I would have to constantly go through. You only get terrible reviews about this place. Idk how its still standing being unethical as they are. On top of that, for every failed test, you have to do an annoying fax hearing request process to some court that never responds. I never drink and drive anymore and somehow I have a year added because these fax request hearings are so common and keeping up with them is pointless! I got my first hearing RESPONCE AFTER my 6 month uninstall point. Dont waste your time with this giant money sucking circle. Somebody put this company in better hands.

Quickstart in Tempe is best! Efficient, friendly and top quality customer service.

[redacted] and [redacted] were very helpful and quick at their job. They are awesome!!! Quick start has been very great

Review: To whom it may concern, over the past year I having been frequently over charged by this company through hidden fees and expenses caused by situations they created. I was told at the beginning of my contract I would have flexibility with scheduling appointments when I first began using this service that is not the case. random rescheduling on their part for appointment dates and failure to make adjustments has resulted in me being locked out of my vehicle on multiple occasions forcing me to miss work and gratuitous fees and additional payments. the device itself has caused issues with my battery and maintenance for my vehicle. The employees have been rude, disrespectful, and degrading. when I asked to speak with a manager to resolve some of these issues I was flatly refused and directed to a website email to which I've received no response. I have been verbally abused, overcharged, and had my property damaged by this company without any recourse. There has been no attempts made on their part to resolve any of these issues even in the form of response or apology.Desired Settlement: As I was not allowed to reset the dates of service as promised at the start of service. I would like restitution for all over charges, and a formal letter of apology for the treatment received by the staff, missed work appointments, and difficulties with my vehicle.

Review: First let me start off by saying up until now I have been very happy with this company. I pre-paid for a year of service and never had an issue with the actual device. I even referred two of my friends to go with this company because I had such a positive experience thus far. That is until now.

I installed my device on Oct 4th. At my last service appointment on Aug 6th, I was instructed to call the DMV to get the exact date I can have my interlock removed and to call back to schedule for uninstall. This is exactly what I did and was informed that I can get it removed on Oct 11th. So today I called Quickstart to schedule the service date and this was when I was informed that I would be charged an additional month of service since I am getting it removed a week after I got it installed and I would be going over the "365" days I pre-paid for. I was informed by the gentlemen that this is why they tell everyone to make sure to get your license back withing 3 days of install, I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THIS! Needless to say he spoke with his manager and informed me that they are willing to make an exception and pro-rate the days I have the device above and beyond the 356 days, only catch is that I would have to forfeit the $20 referral credit I had and be locked out of my car on Friday Oct 10th (according to him this was because of the 3 day rule) and have to call on the 11th for an override so that I could go get the device removed. I was informed the lock out was because they give a 3 day window from the anniversary date of install (which again, I was never informed of) before they permanently lock you out. When I told him I was never informed of this, he merely stated that he cant speak on the business practices from a year ago!!! I was told that technically I should be locked out on Oct 7th since that is 3 days past the day but they were making an exception. I asked why I couldn't just call on the 10th and ask for an override for that day, I was told that they were already making an exception and pro-rating my price so they could not make this exception as well. IF they were willing to look past the 3 days and provide me with 3 additional days before a lock out, why couldnt they just provide me with one more since I am paying for these days anyways?!!? When I asked to speak with the manager making these decisions, I was told that if I speak to a manager they would go back on their offer of pro-rating my price. I found this completely ridiculous since I was just looking for an explanation as to why they could just override for that one additional day!!! In the end, I am having to pay for a whole month. I am a single mother of a toddler and taking off work on Friday Oct 10th (the day I would be locked out) is just out of the question. So in the end I am having to pay an additional $68 for an additional month JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE UNWILLING TO GRANT ME THAT ONE ADDITIONAL DAY! Not to mention the gentlemen I was speaking with was very helpful and pleasant in the beginning but near the end of the call when I kept asking questions to understand and asked speak with the manager became very agitated.Desired Settlement: To only charge me for the days "extra days" above and beyond the 365 days I pre-paid for and NOT lock me out of my car for the whole day on Friday Oct. 10th. (the day before I get the system removed.

Response:

Ms [redacted],I apologize if this situation has caused you frustration. At QuickStart Ignition Interlock we work hard for a good customer service experience and greatly appreciate you referring others for our service. We have to set standards for lockout procedures to avoid chaos and cost controls. We do address no proration in our lease agreement. With that said I am happy to prorate the month for you and provide you with an override code until your removal appointment which I currently have as 10/13/2014. We do honor referral credits until removal so I am not real clear on that issue. I do show you had a $20 credit placed on your account on Sept 30th for referring [redacted]. Please clarify if this is the credit to which you were referring. I will notate the account to provide you with an override and have the account prorated. Please let me know if this is satisfactory. Sincerely,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. The company has made contact with me and the issue has been resolved.

Regards,

Run from this business!

They improperly installed an interlock device and shorted out the start up wiring under our dash. After the vehicle wouldn't start (because of their errors), they threatened to call the DMV for non-compliance. After the vehicle was towed to a mechanic ($80), and the wiring harnesses were fixed ($130), this company refused to cover the repair costs even though the mechanic documented their error with pictures.

After the mechanic fixed the vehicle and it was brought to Interlock, they then demanded a $100 charge for missing an checkup appointment. The appointment was missed because they fried the wires and the vehicle wouldn't start. In fact, after they "reinstalled" it the second time, the truck died again. They are unaccountable for their actions.

They are incompetent, irresponsible, rude, and dishonest. Don't sign a contract with them.

The worst company experience I have EVER had. They charge fees for everything. Do not use them! They are horrible to their client and treat them like dirt. I don't know how Revdex.com associates itself with this company. Rediculous.

I have an interlock from quick start have had the device for 6 months. First they quoted 1.5 hours to install it took 4 hours to install. I have a hybrid car and since they put this thing in I have to jump it every time I drive it, even if I take the device out if Iam not using the car for 48 hours. Iam taking it in to the dealer as soon as they take it out to make sure they have not caused permanent damage to any of the batteries. Yes I was charged missed appointment fees even when I called them 30 min before the appt to let them know again that the car would not start. The car was brand new and had no problems until they put this thing in. This is a very unprofessional organization and their office is full of punk kids, there was even racial slurs going on in the office.

I just want to let people know before they install any ignition interlock. They should look into a new battery for there vehicle. The device will drain your battery plus cost you extra for a tow truck. Not one person at the company I went thru mentioned it neither did the guy installing it. Just wanted other people to be aware so they don't have to go through what I had to endure today.

Review: I had them install an ignition interlock in my vehicle less then a month ago. Since then I have had non stop problems with my 2007 [redacted]. The biggest concern is; as soon as they installed it some of the options on my streeing wheel have stop working --tempeture control, talk for changes and the display option that runs options on the dash right next to where a part of the interlock device is located. I have also been left at my work at night when I get out because of the product giving me issues. It states the battery is low- I took the battery to get looked at at the dealership and they told me if was fine and the the problems with the steering wheel options could only come from the changes that were done. When I took it to the office a man by the name of [redacted] looked the vehicle for about an hour then took me to my car to show me the battery and yelled at telling me it was a factory battery.Desired Settlement: I pay for my services all I want if for them to fix what they have broken and maybe treat customers with respect. When I asked if I could pay for the monthy service the guy- [redacted] just said its not time yet. I live quit far away, I called the main office and they told me it would not be a problem for me to pay today.

Response:

Ms [redacted]We are here to try and rectify this situation and alieve your frustrations. I have investigated your complaint by reading through the notes on your account which I have attached to my response. I have also talked with the technician in depth about this situation. It appears that there are two issues I would like to address. The first is the issue you are having with the vehicle and a possible battery issue. The second is the issue with the steering wheel temperature controls.Vehicle Battery Issue: The technician did test your vehicles car battery, which from the test, he concluded the car battery is not delivering enough voltage for the device to power up and allow you to take a test. I understand this can be frustrating because this occurrence is happening after you installed the device. I will attempt to explain. A car that is NOT equipped with an interlock device does not need to have 12 volts being delivered from the car battery when the driver is pressing or turning the ignition to start the vehicle. When an interlock device is installed if the interlock device does not see 12 volts at the time of ignitionit will not allow the user to take a test to start the vehicle. We see this with vehicles that have batteries that are nearing the end of their lifecycle. [redacted] the technician is very experienced in automotive 12 volt electronics and has 20 years of experience. [redacted] said you had contacted the emergency helpline and he happened to be on-call at which time the device was indicating a “Battery Low” issue. When the interlock device says battery low it is indicating the vehicle battery is low not the devices internal battery. It is my understanding that [redacted] the technician tried to explain this but was not effective in conveying the technical details. It is my belief that the vehicle battery is coming to its life end date. If you would like we would be happy to have the technician manager look at your vehicle and run further tests. Please let us know. Steering wheel temperature controls: Secondly please let me address your vehicles steering wheel temperature controls. This is something we are glad to have fixed if the issue was a result of the installation of the ignition interlock device. We do not have the proper equipment to diagnose and fix the steering wheel temperature controller. We are happy to pay to have this issue fixed if the vehicle is taken to a [redacted] dealership and they diagnose the issue was caused as a result of installing the interlock device. Please let us know if these suggestions are sufficient.
