The head, jambs and sills were damaged in installation. Big thick globs of chaulking was put on the sills and all around the windows.
I paid $1,626.00 on 10-27-2017, the installation was 11-6-2017 and the remaining was paid that day, another $1,626.00. Total cost, $3,252.00 was put on my *** credit card
They did a very unprofessional job on my windows, large globs of chaulking, split wood around the head, jambs and sills. They pieced it back with globs of chaulking and told me to paint over their damage. They left big cracks around the wood that frames the windows. Apparently they don't want to pay for the damage. The wood around the windows should not have been touched. They got their payment, but left me with damage to deal with. Then having to pay someone else for their negligence is too much of a financial burden.

Desired Outcome

I would like a refund. I would have liked them to completely repair the damage, but all they do is put more chaulking and tell me to paint over their damages. They would have to replace all wood and chaulking and paint for it to be like it was before their unprofessional installation.

Heads and sills of the windows were not changed or moved during the installation of the windows. Removing the window stop trim directly around the window sash is necessary for installation of new replacement windows and is common practice. 50% of the time the casing on the windows would not have been touched or moved either, but the casing on most of these windows were originally installed leaving no 'reveal'on the jambs making it necessary to remove and reinstall. When the casing was reinstalled in the proper place a small gap at the top corners had to be filled with caulk. The caulk is paintable and is regularly used to fill gaps and smooth transitions. We have gone out to cut-out, redo and touch-up caulking deemed 'messy/excessive' to the customer four separate times. We have suggested she have a painter touch-up and paint trim at our expense. A refund is completely out of the question. The high quality energy-efficient windows we installed along with labor charges for installation cost our company over $2,700. Does the customer have issues with the windows or their function? We are disappointed to learn that the customers expectations of a renovation job are unrealistic. We want happy customers and we will be happy to issue a credit for whatever minor trim repairs, painting or caulking the customer thinks is necessary. We feel that $350 is more than sufficient for whatever repairs the customer believes to be necessary. We install about 50 windows every business day using the same materials and procedures and we have a reputation for providing good value and good service. We are saddened that we could not make this customer happy.

I will accept the offer of $350. for repairs. That seems to be a reasonable price. Let me know when to expect the payment.
