This is a new state liquor store located on the junction of Johnstown Rd. and Cassidy Rd. in Columbus, OH. For a purchase of $30.40 I was charged a $2 surcharge for using a debit card (the same rule applied to visa cards). I complained to the merchant that this was unreasonable but was told they had to recover the fees charged by credit card companies. Having research the issue this policy is actually illegal. It is not legal to charge any surcharge for using a debit card and it is only legal to charge a maximum of a 4% surcharge on credit card purchase.
