R & D Plastics, Inc.

I signed a contract with R& D Plastics in March of 2012. I hired them to build a mold for my new, patent pending chemical measuring scoop. I agreed to pay them $25,000 for this mold, (despite the fact that I had a bid from China to build the identical mold for $5,000.) We agreed to pay 5 times more to make this mold domestically thinking that we'd get it quicker and it would be higher quality. We were told that mold construction would take 6-8 weeks and that we'd have our first products in 8-10 weeks. We were also told that we would receive progress reports every week. We received one progress report. Approximately 15 weeks after the contract date, we received a sample produced from the unfinished mold. It lacked clarity and would not eject properly from the mold. R & D Plastics had the indicators etched into the mold at this point. Then, they sent another sample. This sample still lacked clarity and wouldn't eject from the mold so it required additional work. Still, because I had been invoiced, in good faith, we paid the balance. Now the mold required significant work to resolve its issues. R & D tried to address these, but now all of the indicators on our measuring cup were inaccurate. R & D Plastics invoiced me for an additional $5,300 for corrections which took the mold from bad to worse. They have never delivered the mold we hired them to build, they are invoicing for more money and have not offered any promise of a solution. They are not responding.
