I did go to Mr***'s residence to provide a more accurate quote for his painting jobMr*** proceeded to show me all of the things the previous contractor did wrong and gave us a story about how he was being taken advantage of by this
other contractorWe did include the price of hanging these doors and door trimWe were not finished making final adjustments to the doors, which has to be done anytime a door is hung, when Mr*** did ask us to stop
We asked Mr*** to give us the chance to finish the door installations before deciding they were not hung correctlyHe insisted we stop and consult with ***The *** associate confirmed that these doors were being installed properly and the doors that were being hung would not fit exactly as the other 6-panel doors because of the type of door he purchased
We again asked Mr*** to give us the chance to finish before he makes judgement on the work but he talked to *** then himself and they agreed to send out one of their contractors to take a look at the doorsMr*** did not want any work to continue until the *** contractor came out
My associate, ***, was at Mr***'s residence when the contractor from *** *** was thereThis contractor was more interested in getting the painting job so he told Mr*** he would finish the doors at no charge if Mr*** hired him to do the paintingIt was at that time that Mr*** fired my company from doing any additional work on his project
In regards to compensation I will not pay Mr*** $for removal and/or repairsFirst of all, we did not install any trim around any windowsThis was done by the contractor Mr*** fired prior to hiring my company
Regarding the doors and door trim, the fact that Mr*** hired another contractor after me to finish his doors and that contractor, in front of my associate, stated the doors would be done at no charge, I feel relieves me from any compensation Mr*** is seekingMr*** states the doors and trim have to be removed and re-done and to my knowledge this was already completed by the *** contractor approximately three weeks ago at no cost to himIf Mr*** was charged for the doors after the *** *** contractor told him there would be no charge, then Mr*** should address the issue with the *** contractor
The $paid by Mr*** was labor fees for completion of the first third of the projectHad he let us finish the doors, we would have then received another installment of $to move on to the next phase and then the final third payment of $would have been due upon completionIt was his choice to fire my company but he is still liable to pay for labor costsI normally charge by the project but since Mr*** did not want me to complete his project, I am willing to charge him our hourly rate for the time we did spend hanging his doors and door trim
My hourly rate is $per hour per person*** and I both put in hours at Mr***'s residence so that would put our labor bill at $I will be happy to refund Mr*** the difference of $
Again, if I had been given the opportunity to finish the job, I know it would have been completed to Mr***'s satisfaction and it is unfortunate that our business relationship has to end in this manner
