R & H Roofing Reviews (10)

Very honest and fair. Very professional.

R and H roofing replaced and fixed my tile roof.

They were very nice to work with and did a good job.

Henry and his crew did a great job, completed all the work that was specified on the bid and even repaired a few items that were overlooked by the inspector. I certainly hope that I never encounter any more roofing problems, but if I do I'll have R & H do the work.

Hired R & H Roofing to fix a leak in our garage, paid over $700 for the repair. First rain, the leak still there. Called them to return to fix the leak. They came and said they fixed it. Next rain, leak still there. Called them back. They said this time they could fix the leak if we paid them more money. Decided that $700+ and a lot of frustration was enough dealing with R & H Roofing.

Fantastic people, quality work, fair and honest. I highly recommend R&H Roofing.

Review: I wanted my roof repaired due to water "ponding" on the roof after heavy rains..Roofer said he needed to REPAIR scuppers and apply a sealant to the area and fill some leaks to stop the problem. When work was completed I asked if a water test was performed to see if water ran off properly. I was then told by the owner's wife that the owner told me at time of estimate that there would still be water that accumulates and that the scuppers would need to be lowered if I wanted all water to run of! [redacted] they lied!! That was NEVER told to me or why would I possibly spend 700.00 knowing I would still have some water accumulate on the roof! I feel scammed/cheated out of 700.00 and want some restitution, PLEASE!!!!Desired Settlement: Correct the repairs so there will be NO water accumulating on my roof as I requested in the beginning!!!!!!!!

Response:

When [redacted] met with Mr [redacted], the customer said he had two flat areas that had ponding of water when it rained but the flat area over the bedrooms was where the leak was. [redacted] explained to Mr [redacted] that in order to correct the ponding the scuppers would have to be lowered. This would have to be done by a contractor licensed to do that type of work. We are not licensed to do that type of work. [redacted] showed Mr [redacted] that the roofing had pulled away from the scuppers and the parapet wall on the flat area over the bedrooms. The area over the garage did not have a leak. [redacted] told Mr [redacted] that he could repair the scuppers and parapet wall area to prevent further leaking. We typed up two seperate proposals for Mr [redacted], one for the repairs over the bedrooms only and one for both flat areas.

Mr [redacted] chose to have only the area over the bedrooms repaired. He faxed us the signed contract. The contract does not state that we would lower the scuppers but rather repair the scuppers. In order to fix this structural issue it would cost thousands of dollars to correct and not $700.00.

Once [redacted] completed the work and the invoice was emailed to Mr [redacted], he imediately replied with concerns over the ponding of the water. He did not address that before sending us the signed contract. He was responding from work and already had a list of complaints. He complained about "splatters" of coating on his sidewalk. [redacted] went out and cleaned the "splatters" which consisted of house paint as well as the splatters from the coating we had applied on the roof. The splatters were minor in size but non the less [redacted] cleaned up both the paint and the coating. Mr [redacted] became extremely rude and called us liars. [redacted] advised that we would return the $700.00 check we had received from Mr [redacted] but wanted him to sign a form showing that we returned the check to him. Mr [redacted] called on the phone and demanded to know exactly what time [redacted] would meet with him to return the check. [redacted] the office manager, explained to him that [redacted] was out working on a job and did not know what time he would be able to meet with him since each job is different and there is no set time as to when he would be back in the area. Mr [redacted] got really upset over this. [redacted] went to the [redacted] residence but there was no answer at the door so he left his business card. Mr [redacted] sent another email the following day again saying we were liars. [redacted] eventually met with Mr [redacted] on November 14th and Mr [redacted] signed the form we had.

I will be faxing the supporting documentation. I have tried to upload all this with no success.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

The roofer did NOT explain to me that the scuppers needed to be lowered/ and or even mention that a carpenter would need to do the work!!! The reason I called them was to eliminate the ponding because I believe that is what caused the leaking.. He said what he was going to do would alleviate the ponding. I did not complain about future ponding until I asked [redacted] if he did a water test on the roof after repairs and THEN and only Then did I start complaining !!! I NEVER would have spent 700.00 knowing that the ponding would not be corrected and that a carpenter would need to be contacted who then would probably have to tear up some of the roofing R & H had just done!!!!!! The reason I was not home is because [redacted] told me that [redacted] would call BEFORE coming to my house because I said I did not want to wait around waiting for him!!! He NEVER called until the next day to set an appointment and I WAS there for him then!! I was upset about the splatter( I don't care how small it was) because she claimed there was NO splatter BEFORE even talking to [redacted]. He evidently set her straight and then and only then did he come clean up. I am not a complainer until I am misled/ lied to!!! I would have let the splatter issue go if not told there was no splatter. I consider this issue closed but wanted my last 2 cents worth!!! I have friends who are now claiming the same issues with R & H( found out by accident while talking to them after church Sunday) They just decided to "eat their losses"
