Review: I have been going to the same accountant for my taxes since the late nineties and never had an issue. This year however I dropped my taxes as usual and my account told me they will notify me once it is done. Few weeks later, he ([redacted]) called me to confirm my bank account number. He asked if I would be using the same checking account number as last year and I answered yes. He then told me that he will notify me once finished so that I can pick it up. About 2 weeks later I called him and he said he was still working on it, online filling s for the State taxes was not yet available. I made a second call a week later and he gave me the same answer. Finally he ([redacted]) called to inform me that my takes are ready for pickup; this was on March 22nd and my refund was $7835.On March 23rd I went there and as they are handing me my taxes to sign them, I noticed that the bank account number was not correct. I notified the secretary who noted it on my taxes and sent me in to see [redacted]. I when to his office and informed him that the bank account where my money went to was not mine. He apologized and printed some contact numbers for the IRS for me. He gave them to me and told me that all I have to do was to call the number and explain to them that the incorrect back account number was on my tax form and according to him, they will update it with my correct one and this will resolve the issue. Being that I have being going there for over 10 years, I told him I will call the IRS and keep him posted. I then went to the secretary and she noted on my tax papers Will call Monday to change the account #. As they made, I thought is an easy fix so I proceeded to pay them for the service and left. I called the IRS over two dozen times, finally a trace was opened. I also seek help from an IRS Tax Advocate Office and one [redacted] was assigned to my case. I also called the back ([redacted]) numerous times and even went to my local branch but they initialed told me that the only way I can get the money is if the IRS notifies them that the money went to the wrong account. After having me provide copies of my tax papers, they informed me that they need a request from the IRS indicating that the deposit went to the wrong account number before they can return it to the IRS or put it in my account. I asked if I can have the information on paper just in case but [redacted] told me no. At this point, I asked the bank manager ([redacted]) what if whoevers account the money went to decided to use it. I asked if they can put a hold on the funds till this is cleared but she told me they couldnt do that. I then started pushing for the IRS to send this letter and eventually they did. The IRS then sent me a letter stating that they have contacted the bank and are waiting for their response. Armed with this later, I went to my local bank and showed it to [redacted], the bank manager. In front of me, she made several calls and was finally told the funds are no longer available and that the issue is between my accountant and I. In the meantime, my accountant continued to drag his feet. There was a time he was supposed to call the IRS and call me back but he never did. Following my trip to the bank, I went to his office and informed him that the bank manager asked for his information and wants to speak to him; I then provided him the bank managers phone number and asked him not to wait for them to call but to instead to call them as they were investigating the issue. The following day I called the bank and to see if they were able to speak to him as he had promised to call them and was told no, he did not call them. I have been to his office aver half a dozen times and each time he would tell me that he was going to make some call and will call me back; no call from him ever came in. Even today, June 13th, I went to his office but was told he was on vacation. I have two kids, both under 3 years old, a mortgage and a lot bills. This has cost me more than anyone would know. I just cant believe this can happen in this country and no one care to help fix it, I hope your office can help.
