Review: This complaint is against [redacted], the owner of this business. He owns several real estate properties in Phoenix, AZ that he rents out but resides at this address. His cellphone number that he uses in his ads is XXX-XXX-XXXX and he does usually answer this phone I know for sure if he thinks you will rent one of his properties. I signed a rental agreement on 11/22/2013 to rent his property located at [redacted] Phoenix, AZ XXXXX. The rental agreement was good through November 24, 2013 through January 22, 2014. I "wired" $200 into his [redacted] account on XX-XX-XXXX to "hold" the property. I later wired $2040 into the account to pay the balance renting the property through January 22, 2014. This included a $500 "refundable security deposit." When I moved into the condo, it was filthy. I spent a full day just cleaning it enough so that I could actually live in it. The floors were filthy, all the furniture was covered in dust, there were dirty smelly clothes shoved in the bathroom cabinets, what appeared to be several body fluid stains on the sofa (that I could not clean out), filthy windows and blinds, etc. When I moved out on January 22nd, I came back on the 23rd and cleaned it. I was still cleaning when [redacted] arrived to the unit and he told me that was fine to keep cleaning. I stayed another 2 or 3 hours to make sure the floors were mopped and I left the place MUCH cleaner than I found it. I sent him a text message that day with my address and asked him to send me the deposit. He never responded. I tried calling him a few days later and I left a message for him to call me back. He never called me back. I went to the unit today and knocked on the door but he didn't answer. I called him and the phone seemed to disconnect as if he answered it and hung up on me. I called back and left another message but he has not called back. He had no trouble at all answering the phone when I rented it, now all of a sudden he is nowhere to be found. The neighbor next door to the property saw me and I told her if she saw [redacted] to have him call me that I needed my security deposit back. She told me that [redacted] mentioned he had to clean the area rug in the living room that my dogs soiled it. If one of my dogs left a spot on the rug that I didn't know about I apologize and will gladly pay to just have the whole rug replaced because there is no way that rug is worth more than probably $50 at the very most. [redacted] owes me an explanation for what is going on with my security deposit and I feel like this is definitely bad business behavior for him not to even answer his phone.

I would like my $500 security deposit refunded. I am willing to replace the rug and/or pay him what it is worth. Either way, he owes me an explanation. I took pride in staying in that condo and feel like I took excellent care of it while I was renting it.
