Mrs [redacted] placed a service request via her home warranty provider which we, R&M Electric provide service for as an electrical vendor Her complaint noted several lights not working Upon arrival at the property I, [redacted] , was told that normally when this occurs she can reset a GFCI outlet in her basement and the lights will come back on This time however they did not My first step was to test trip the GFCI in order to determine what other items in the home are protected by this device After noting which items are protected by the device I reset the GFCI so that power would be restored to all items which it protects, including the refrigerator This was necessary and vital to the process of troubleshooting the issue otherwise it would be near impossible to determine where the failure is occuring(the point at which power is not being carried to the originally mentioned lighting upstairs) This bit of detail is important as to why I am certain that the GFCI was not tripped at the time I last inspected it and while I am sorry to hear the loss of food sustained by the homeowner, I am confident it is not by fault or negligence of my own Furthermore regarding the accusation of losing the screws that belong with the faceplate Mrs [redacted] mentioned, there is simply nothing to say other than I removed them, put them on the counter, then I removed the faceplate and put it on the counter directly over the screws As she aptly said, and the picture indicates, I didn't even wipe clean the countertop, so beyond placing them on the countertop, no further action of mine could have resulted in their being lostThe result of the original problem not being able to be corrected is due to an accessibility issue Mrs [redacted] 's home warranty policy will not provide for removing any types of wallcovering to continue investigation beyond accessible boxes at light fixtures, outlets, etc After hours of inspecting all accessible outlets, switches, and light fixtures that could potentially be connected to the issue there were no findings of the cause of failure The main concern on my part was that all the items with power had copper wiring but the items which did not have power all had aluminum wiring The location at which aluminum and copper wire meet has a high probability of being the cause of failure since many times this connection is done improperly and with the wrong items The failures can include fires, burning, and melting of wires I expressed my concern and the potential threat this caused and how scary it is not knowing where the connection had been made because in my experience that usually means that the connection was done improperly and then covered up with drywall (which is illegal) meaning that the burning and fire hazard can happen completely invisibly until it burns through the wall At the end of my visit I inspected a GFCI device in the main floor hall bathroom which indeed contained two aluminum wire cables spliced together with a copper "pig tail" as it's called that connected to the GFCI device This was an attempt to workaround the issue that the bathroom required a GFCI device yet GFCI outlets which are acceptable to use with aluminum wiring are not obtainable The problem found was melted and burned wires resulting from the improper wire nuts used to splice the aluminum and copper wiring together I explained that this issue is exactly what I believe to be the cause of failure in the other lighting, unfortunately this specific outlet did not have anything to do with the original problem and therefore only created a second issue I explained to her that the damage done was extensive and the only free thing I could to make it safe and acceptable was to remove the gfci device, cap off the wiring and install a blank cover plate over the opening She agreed to this as a temporary solutionWhen Mrs [redacted] contacted me on Saturday morning, 9-(a holiday weekend)I answered the phone politely After a few short sentences when voices became raised I decided to hang up to prevent escalation Instead of ignoring her I attempted to continue communication in a written fashion via text which I have included in the attachments I made no insulting or derogatory statements as you will plainly see As I stated in the text messages in response to Mrs [redacted] 's claims that I was "taking her for a ride" I spent hours at the home for her cost of $100, which per her warranty policy is owed to any vendor that arrives regardless of time spent at the property and regardless of the work performed This is not something I have authority to change in any way shape or form as a third party to the contract she has with AHS When she asked me for a bid to help inspect the home further for potential fire hazards as well as possibly fixing any of these issues I made it clear that it was not something I would be willing to take on, regardless of the money involved This hopefully further illustrates that I had no interest in taking advantage of her situation whatsoever I want to note that as a vendor for [redacted] (Mrs [redacted] 's warranty provider) we are ranked as #out of more than vendors in over states This status does not come easily and would not be true if we as a company or I, as the person servicing 90% of our warranty requests, performed business in the manner which is being accused As for our status, it can be verified via reference upon request.I do not agree that R&M is responsible for any financial compensation or reimbursement to Mrs [redacted] Thank you for your time, I look forward to a resolution that considers all the facts for what they are

Chris, at R&M, was sent out by my home warranty program to check electrical wiring / a ceiling fan that wasn't working at a condo I own He was prompt, courteous and honest with me about the issues he found He even had to come back out on a recall and had no problem doing itI would recommend this technician and company to anyone with the highest marks!

R&M Electric was sent to me by my home warranty programI'm often not happy with the warranty company's contractors, but R&M was a very pleasant surpriseThey were prompt to respond to the service requestIt turned out that my ceiling fan couldn't be repaired, and they worked with me and the warranty company to acquire a new fanThe installation was perfect and the installer was polite and friendlyI would recommend them to friends

I had a great experience with R&M. Recently purchased a farm in a rural community which included an HSA home warranty, had a few electrical issues and R&M was assigned to the job.

Zach from R&M arrived during the promised timeframe and was exceptionally courteous and professional. He repaired every item and left my home as clean as when he started. I must say that I was completely satisfied and will definitely recommend R&M to my new friends and neighbors.
