Bob *** CPA prepared my 2015 and 2016 taxes. In June, 2017, I received an audit letter from the IRS pertaining to my 2015 taxes. They indicated I owed an additional $7,434 in taxes, and $1,940 in interest and penalties. I contacted him and faxed him the IRS letter. After he reviewed the IRS letter, he called me and said he "messed up" in that he only reported capital gains from one of my Edward *** accounts. He said he would write a letter to the IRS explaining his error, and would send me a copy. I also reviewed my 2016 taxes which he prepared and I found the same error. I called him and had to leave a message indicating he should also review my 2016 taxes for the same error in the hopes that he could file an amended return and curtail any penalties for this year. He never returned my phone call, nor did I receive the letter he promised to write to the IRS. To date, I have had no further contact from Mr. Hannan. He provided absolutely no assistance to me in trying to resolve this issue.

To make sure my taxes were compliant with the IRS, I took them to a third party tax preparer, who, after review, had to file amended returns for both 2015 and 2016 to correct Mr. Hannan's errors. This tax preparer determined I owed an additional combined total of $7,706 to the IRS and the State of Maryland; plus I had to pay almost $400 to the new tax preparer to file these amended returns.

Due to Mr. error in preparing both tax years, he has cost me additional money and failed to assist me in rectifying his errors. I feel that I should be reimbursed for the additional expense of hiring another tax preparer ($400), for the amount of interest and penalties ($1,940), and for the initial amount I paid Mr. to prepare my taxes ($370). Total $2,710.
