R. Maurice Bonilla Reviews (%countItem)

initially went to Dr Bonilla for his weight loss program.
I asked if they had special discounts for TGH employees. I was giving that discount.
at every visit I was ask to pay for the upcoming visit in advance which I did (I have never heard of this practice before, but I proceeded with pre-payments).
I am financially unable to continue with maintenance treatments.
I call the office to cancel my appt within the allotted time period.
this has been since Oct 2019,
I contacted the office for a refund, at first I was told no refund would be given as I had not cancel my appt within 24 hours. I cancel within 48-72.
I was told the office manager (Dr bonilla's wife) would not refund because I was given a discount.
I made another plea. I called the office back and was told a check had been mailed.

since nov-Dec is been back and fourth with the lies, that the check was in the mail.
today, now Feb 11 2020 I call and was told again a refund wound not be granted because of the "huge" discount I was given.
I find it ridiculous that a physician is practicing in this manner.
Product_Or_Service: medical appt

Desired Outcome

Refund I want a full refund of my $90.00 (for a timely cancellation notice and services not rendered). the fact that a discount was given should beard no holding on a full refund.

: CASE XXXXXXXX
We are in receipt of a complaint from a patient regarding our failure to refund her prepayment for her follow up prepaid appointment. We understand her frustration, however, our medically supervised programs are designed for patient safety, compliance, and accountability.
Upon entering our programs, all patients are required to sign an agreement stating that they
understand that prepayments of monthly visit fees are required. This policy is in place in order to
ensure patient safety, as well as to comply with Federal and state laws regarding the prescribing of pharmaceuticals.

When the patient called to cancel her non- refundable, prepaid appointment, she was reminded of the office policy and the importance of her follow up visit, but insisted on cancelling.

After the patient called again very upset that she was not getting a refund, the manager reviewed her account. It was noted that she had asked for a large discount when she entered the program. Our office does not typically give discounts, however, the physician personally made an exception and gave her a 50% discount on her program fees. The few back and forth phone calls in which she unfortunately felt she was getting the "run around" were simply efforts by our office to discuss the policies and the reason she was being denied a refund. When she called again on February 11 and was obviously upset, the office decided to go ahead and issue a refund. She was told that it would be issued at the end of the month. It appears that she filed her complaint the same day and did not
wait for her promised refund check.

We are sending the refund at the end of the month as promised in an effort to reach a resolution.
However, we are disappointed that although we gave substantial discounts to this patient that we normally do not offer, and decided after much back and forth to issue a refund, the patient still decided to file a complaint. In over 35 years of practice, we have never received a Revdex.com complaint. We wish this patient well and hope this response is satisfactory to her.

Sincerely,
R. Maurice B., M.D.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I have never filed a complaint before. This was all on principal to me. The explanation of what happened is no t true at all. I never asked for a large discount, I simply asked if there was a discount and was told no however, surprised when I was given one and was certainly grateful. But it doesn't mean I'm just gonna give my hard earned money away. I complied with what was asked of me for the program. at this point I'm not going to get into a he said she said. My conscience is cleared as to what happened. I after the initial denial of the refund. I was told over and over "the check is in the mail". Yes I filed the complaint on the same day I spoke to the office staff because I felt I was brushed off. It was not until the next day that I received a call stating that a refund would be mail but not until the end of this month.
I will wait for the refund as promised and be done with this embarrassing situation.
