R-N-J Paving

We hired RNJ paving to do our driveway in April it is now July and we still haven’t got a driveway or a return phone call. We have paid them more than half in advance. Now we are in the process of trying to get our money back. Never call these guys for any work.

Review: I'm filing a complaint against R-N-J Paving Co. In [redacted], VA. We had our driveway sealed on Sept. 13, 2014 and they did a shoddy job to say the least at the cost of one thousand dollars. I called them to complain about the work, and ask for someone to come back out and look the job over. They promised me twice that they would be over the weekend following my calls. They never showed up. After that they wouldn't answer my calls. My husband was the last to call them just last week, and they haven't returned his call either. It looks like they used watered down sealer, because it splashed on the landscape ties going up our driveway, laid in puddles that when they dried cracked into small pieces. He also sprayed my Mums and watering cans. Their tire tracks are imprinted on the driveway from where they drove off. There are other issues also.Desired Settlement: The business has the responsibility to make our driveway look much better than it does now. The weather has gotten too cold for them to do it over at this point, and I don't trust them to wait until next year. I believe that we should be reimbursed for a good portion of our payment.

November 30, 2014RNJ Asphalt Paving did sealcoat the [redacted]’s driveway in September as proposed and agreed upon.RNJ uses [redacted] asphalt base emulsion sealer in which is delivered in bulk from their storage tanks in ready to use form, we only add sand to the product to help with crackfilling and traction. We do not “water down” our product.Sealant is applied with a specialized sprayer at an application rate of .12-.16 gal/yd”. All efforts are taken to minimize drift by hand applying along walkways and buildings, although it is possible that some material did drift to adjacent plant material and ties, this product is not known to harm plant material or creosoted ties.Due to the nature of asphalt pavement itself, and the variability of how the surface takes the material, there can be differences in color and absorption rate particularly on previously sealed and aged surfaces.Since 1988 we have be known to stand behind our work and make every effort to satisfy our customers. It is our policy not to discount or reimburse work that has been performed and paid in full as agreed. If the [redacted]’s will agree, RNJ will return in the spring once temperatures remain above 50° and recoat the driveway.Regards,Jeannie A.Owner
