R P Dalton Asphalt Paving & Fuel Oil Inc

I normally don't take the time to give a business a review, whether it is bad or good; however, my encounter with the people who own and run Dalton Paving urged me to warn others of this company. I had Kevin come out to my home and give an estimate. He urged me to give him a deposit that day to ensure the job will be completed in 2 weeks (1st week of June) but I told him I need to discuss it with my husband before I can commit. So we decided to go through with the company and gave a deposit the day of in person. I was informed that the job will be completed the first week of June and it was stated in the contract. As the weeks went by my husband and I tried reaching out to the men at Dalton only to get no answer or a message will be given to Rick, the owner. When I finally did get through to someone who can give me an answer I was told that the job will be completed in the following week. This happened over the span of five weeks. I had to constantly reach out to these people who were extremely rude to my husband and I for a job that we were paying for. We finally decided to cancel the job since the job had no issue date and 5 weeks lapsed with no definite answer in sight. Dave ensured us we will receive a full refund since they did not oblige the contract, however, when we called the following day to confirm pickup of the check we were told that we will no longer receive a full refund. That we should have canceled 3 days after we signed the contract. I told them that would have been impossible to do since we had no idea the contract will not be honored by the company. We never had the intention of changing our mind but we rather ended up becoming fed up with dealing with people who kept ignoring us and giving us the runaround for the day the work will actually be started when we finally did get through to a live person. We are now in the process of taking them to court for this problem, which could have been avoided from the getco. Please take this review into consideration because you will end up dealing with unprofessional people. We thankfully found a company who cost $200 more but use incomparable material and manpower and outstanding customer service [redacted]
