Review: [redacted] agreed to put in a new concrete walkway and small railing on our property. He said it would be a 3 day job for which he wanted $1300 to do.He requested $600 upon acceptance and $700 upon completion. The work actually took 9 days to complete because he would leave without any word to us and not return the rest of the day leaving his tools, etc. all over the lawn.He would go days without showing up without the decency of calling to let us know he had personal family health issues to deal with. When he finally did get the concrete work done the sides were shoddy at best. The tops look great (he told me many times what a great job they did with the broom finish & picture frame) but the sides & risers are crumbly and there are spots that appear to have had air pockets and are now openings. There were also some rocks sticking out from under the new slab. I asked him to fix and he promised he would be back in a couple of days. He would take care of us. That was 3 weeks ago and many phone messages ago. The railing he put on for us is supposed to be aluminum but is painted and was nicked when we got it (even looks like some rust). When I complained about the nicks his answer was "well I had to put it in my truck with rocks in there what do you expect?" he said the store gave him touch up paint! Needless to say I was livid. He said if it rusted he would replace the railing. We can't even get him to fix the concrete I doubt he'd be back to replace the rail. Mr. [redacted] also requested $200 to buy the railing (after we already gave him $600)on 6/4/13 and then begged me like a child (Please, pretty please)to give him $100 on 6/5/13 because he "could really use the money." My husband & I bent over backwards to be accommodating to Mr. [redacted] since he was an advertiser in The [redacted] (a newspaper that I work for). We tried to patronize an advertiser in my employer's paper and support the small business man. We are sorry now we didn't look around for other offers first.Desired Settlement: We would like Mr. [redacted] to redo the concrete sides and risers that are not smooth. This is an hour or less of work to do for which he has already been paid to do and which he promised to do.

Review: [redacted] of RPY contracting has a business card that says Concrete Driveways, Walkways, Walls , and Handyman. Telephone [redacted]. This contractor has no address on the card and has an older black pickup truck. This may not be the mans real name. He will say he is in the process of moving and may have his wife(girlfriend?) and an 8 year old boy with him. I gave him a small job of five walkway squares on one property and two driveway squares on another to test out his work. He broke up the concrete and took 80% away. He then asks for a deposit of half the concrete so he can order it. In this case maybe 4 yards. He will leave some old rusty tools and a wheelborrow behind and say he will get them when he is done. The rusty toolbox was actually empty. He will call a few times and delay delivery and also ask if he can get another check because he is short on the security deposit on the new rental place he found. One delay is he is in the hospital for a few days and gives his room phone, which never answers. After a while you realize he is not coming back and will not answer his phone. Beware of this man. He does collect scrap in his black pickup. His one comment was he found a nice place to rent in Saxonburg Pa. I suspect he jumped the rent on a rental somewhere on the north side. Beware of this man or someone with a similar MO.Desired Settlement: Would like $900 of my deposits refunded . Would like to file criminal charges against this person. Would like child services to investigate this person for having school age child working that should be in school.
