Review: I have been a customer for 5 years at R&R Renton. Good until today. On 6-24-2014, I rented a Vermer 6" chipper for a small job. The guy ([redacted] gentleman) that checked me out said I had to baby it. I commented that it was very old and worn out looking, and he said "well it's not new". I noticed it had damage like it had been recently in an accident or rolled.

The performance was as bad as it looked, but it worked for a while. I had a small job but it took way too long because the machine was worn out. It would stall out chipping a 2" diameter dry limb. It burned oil, the clutch was slipping, it ran like it has low compression and it had no power. But I had a small job and it was working, barely. I was almost finished with the job and it stopped working properly, so I stopped and so took it back immediately, around 4pm, instead of tomorrow.

I immediately returned the equipment and reported it to the woman at the desk that the equipment was in a state of disrepair; it was worn out and not working well; and then finally stopped working. I brought it back immediately and reported it as the contract states around 4pm.

The guy ([redacted] gentleman) that checked me out was there to check me in. He disassembled the shoot and blade housing. He said the blades were good, but he accused me of "overloading" it. That is not true. The equipment could not handle the amount of material it was designed for and suppose to handle. I have hours of experience with Vermer chippers. He told the clerk the clutch would not engage and there were some other repair problems.

I explained to the woman at the desk that the equipment was old, worn out and in disrepair. The woman was hostile, and she would not check me in. She said they would settle with me tomorrow after they made a list of repairs and total for me, in a threatening manner. She threw the receipt at me and said they would tell me tomorrow what I owe on the repairs, and she would not check me "IN", and provide a receipt.

Desired Settlement: I want a receipt for returning the equipment, which I was refused. I immediately returned and reported that the equipment was in disrepair. I want R&R to stop threatening me with responsibility for repairs beyond ordinary wear and tear that I did not cause, to equipment that is in a dilapidated state.
