R & R Residential Fencing Reviews (2)

Review: My wife [redacted] and I moved back to [redacted] to be closer to our families after my mother's passing. I [redacted] was born and raised in [redacted] and my wife in [redacted]. We moved to [redacted] in 2001. The community we lived in had quite a few homeless cats. We started feeding 4-5 of them and this continued for approximately 5 years. We would take them to the vet one by one to have them either spade or neutered, they in since became like our children. When hurt we would see they were cared for. [redacted] and I decided to move back to the [redacted] area and try to purchase a home that had a good size yard since 4 of the cats were 90% of the time outside. We decided to purchase a fence so the cats wouldn't run the neighborhood and disturb the neighbors, they became like our children. We didn't even need an entire fence just a partial and our neighbor said it was ok to tie onto his existing fence. The owner of R & R Fence came to our home along with a few other fence companies. We liked Mr Reed so we chose his company. As you can see he wanted $674.98 in ad**nce and $300.00 when complete. We trusted him ad paid the full amount of $974.98. A few days later he came to our home and dropped off several long poles to go into the ground. Mr Reed did not even come back for 4 or 5 days and id very little work and left. The next time Mr Reed showed up he was complaining that his brakes on his truck were gone. I drove him to several auto repair stores in an attempt to get his truck repaired but with no success. So I drove him home while his truck was in my driveway all weekend leaking brake fluid. My cats do everything they can to get outside but due to Mr Reeds lack of returning calls the cats due what they have to do since they are not all house broken. It has been over 1 week since we have seen or heard from Mr Reed and also it has not rained for at least 6 days so we don't feel the weather can be used as an excuse. We haven't seen Mr Reed for the past 10 days. My wife and I are both retired, [redacted] is 71 years of age and I will be 68 November 1st. I am sorry for such a long letter for you to have to read but we are on a fixed income and the money Mr Reed took from us really hurts. My wife and I are sorry to have to extend this complaint for yu to read but our fence continues to be the most frustrating problem we have had in our 15 years of marriage. This individual has no regard whatever for what we are attempting to do for our cats which is to give them also a home where they can get fresh air. When we paid this person almost $1000.00 on September 19th taking in consideration rainy days. We are at the ultimate frustration level. With such a small section of fence to put in he obviously is going to drag his feet until winter if it is completed at all. Taking this guy to small claims court is going to be a pleasure. Thank you once again for taking the time to read this complaint. [redacted] and [redacted]Desired Settlement: Full refund and cost of cleaning my driveway from Mr Reeds truck leaking brake fluid.

The first time I arrived at Mr [redacted]s home the yard in the rear at the point where three different inclines began was over grown with brush and trees. They were very steep with the last eleven feet much steeper than the rest. I had to climb up at that point. Hand and knees! I took pictures. He said he would clear the brush which he did. I told him if I was chosen I may have to change the way I installed it to try and accommodate what he was trying to achieve. When I returned I could see better what had to be done and a change was needed that would cost $53.14. Also three posts had to be driven in because of large rocks and tree roots. Mr [redacted] said to do it. I explained that there may be some gaps at certain spots. He said to try to use matching fabric if I can but just try to close it off for his cats. I tried a few different methods that did work but for the steeper part I had to resort to something else. What Mr [redacted] calls chicken wire is really garden fence designed to keep rabbits out so being welded wire it didn't have to stretch to be tight like chain link at these angles causes the problem in the first place. Mr [redacted] said the other contractors couldn't do the work until November and I told him I could squeeze him in as I work on the jobs I already had if they didn't mind to much. I think he forgot the reason he couldn't reach me when he called is that I was already obligated to complete the jobs I was already working on. I bid over two hundred dollars less than the next lowest bid as a courtesy to the fellow [redacted] but I must still respect my other customers especially an 80 year old Korean War [redacted]. My brakes went out just as I pulled in Mr [redacted]s driveway while delivering material for his fence. He was there at the time and insisted that I leave my truck in his driveway until it could be towed for a repair. He also persuaded me to leave it there over the weekend advising me it would be safer there. I thanked him and told him I would use my pressure washer to clean it if need be. As it turned out after it dried he told me not to worry about it because he could barely see it. I took pictures here too. Mr [redacted] approached me while I was working and asked me if I had [redacted] and I told him yes. He then started explaining to me he did also. [redacted] is what I think he wanted me to know so we could move on and get through this unexpected mess. This is all a sad surprise. I tried to complete everything when he ordered me to leave his property. He said he would drop everything if I would put the black vinyl fabric where the garden fence should go. I told him there wasn't enough left and if I got more I would have to get a whole roll. Fifty feet. He had agreed to pay for anything extra all along or I would have put it in writing. The extra work from the changes I felt would cover the help he gave me for the brake problem. I'm not responsible for his cat trouble. He's been in town with his cats long before he called me. Thank you David B Reed

I never have and I never will give any customer a completion date on paper or verbally. I have estimates all the way back to 1989 to prove it. If anyone is mis leading it is Mr [redacted]. And he did threaten to do this if I didn't obey what he demanded even though all along he was praising me about what a good job I was doing. As far as the extra $53.14 is concerned after the brush and trees were cleared out by Mr [redacted] the difference of using all terminal posts instead of line posts on the steep parts mad that difference to be paid at the end of the job. We spoke of it in ad**nce on the first meeting. That is why the estimate was left open. (no drawings just dimensions) He is also denying this. He is also denying rocks and roots and the fencing company he says he was forced to hire is the one he saw had done a very bad job he wanted to avoid matching. Please ask in court about the difference on this. Bent top rail loose fabric even with utility wire ect. I made no mistakes. As far as being on my hands and knees it was the last eleven feet tat is very plain to see when the fence wasn't there you couldn't walk up. I have pictures. When I drove the last post in I had to be able to hold the neighbors fence or I would have fallen. What he calls chicken wire was a left over piece of garden fence I brought to test before I bought a new roll. It would have worked if it would have been completed the proper way. Mr [redacted] stopped that. The only place it was needed was the last section. It's obvious Mr [redacted] isn't going to admit he knew about my existing customers and he is the one that wanted to pay me in full because he said he was so happy my price to him was over two hundred dollars less than anyone else/ Also I didn't have to leave my truck at his house with the broken brake line. He insisted. He even took me to get two beers with him. He asked me to show him where a local bar was. As we drank our beers what did we talk about, me having two pressure washers and cleaning brake fluid if need be. Also [redacted] that he claims he also has. I showed you my ** report, by the way MP's work all over bases not just guard shacks. LOL This part amazes me. Mr [redacted] says I rang his door bell and started yelling at the top of my voice that I was done with his fence. The truth is I calmly told him I had to the new roll of garden fence on my tuck and asked if he wanted me to finish it because thats all that was left to do. He said he wanted the black vinyl fence to be put there. I said the garden fence would work better. He said no get off my property. There was no yelling until I walked to my truck and he yelled "Make sure you bring your check book to court. Wait until you see what I wrote. And then I had to yell back because of the distance "You're just a back stabber. Ther eare many demeaning comments he was making that I just ignored such as how I was lying about auto repairs. I have receipts with dates. Also it is the law to call OUPS when digging with power equipment which I did use my auger. This is obviously another false statement by Mr [redacted]. Everyone saw me use my auger. The neighbor watched me. This is so unbelie**bly false it is truly scary. Thank God I took pictures. Thank you David Reed.
