R. Stanley Paving Reviews (3)

Rowdy Stanley drove by my home as I was outside and stopped and asked if he could seal coat my driveway. I agreed to a price of $850.00. He told me he would be back in 20 minutes. 4 hours later they came and proceeded to work on cleaning and coating the driveway. As the young fellow was working on coating I asked about the edges the broom wasn't getting, also Gregg was filling in the spaces between the wall and the driveway then hot tar was to be applied on top. Well, I have to tell you Rowdy came back after dark and started to put hot tar in the space but by now it was 11:00 pm and I was extremely tired. John did a great job on the brooming but never did the edging so that still sits undone. We'll be back first thing in the morning, they said. They came back all right, but picked up their equipment and left. In the end, I paid $1000.00 and numerous calls were made to no avail. I only got their voice machine, left messages, but no return calls. So, here I sit with an uncompleted job, very frustrated to say the least. I would never, ever do business with this company. If you do, you will be lied to. Scam artists is the best way to describe them.

Review: On June 25, 2013 R. Stanley's Paving started a sealing job of our driveway. The job was not completed that day because of insufficient materials with the contractor. The driveway job was completed the next day, June 26. I was told to make the check out to R. Stanley. I instead made it out to the company. I didn't think that was the proper way to pay for services from a company. Payment was made in full. Oh July 8, 2013 I called and asked Mr. Stanley to please come and check the driveway as the seal was peeling. He said he would but never showed up. I called again the next day, left a message but never heard from him. On July 15, 2013 I left another message saying if I didn't hear from him I was going to contact the PA Attorney Generals Office. He called back and said he would be out between 1:00 - 2:00 PM. His father showed up at 3:45. Mr. R Stanley did show up but never joined in on the conversation. His father had us put in writing that our driveway would be repaired in 10 to 14 days. We were told it needed to cure. They would then come, scrape and redo the entire driveway. He signed the agreement. On the fourteenth day he never showed up or called. On August 1, 2013 I called him again and he said he would be out the next day as long as it didn't rain. It didn't rain and he didn't show up. On August 6, 2013 I sent him a letter saying if he didn't complete the job by August 13, 2013 I was going to send a letter to the Attorney Generals Office. I never heard from him so a letter was sent. They tried to contact him by phone and mail. He never responded to them. I was told by letter from the Attorney General's office that they couldn't do anything else. That is why I'm now sending this complaint to the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: All we wanted from him was to have the driveway done properly. Which we were promised would be done. Since nothing has been done I'm now asking for a refund of $1,000.00

Review: Friday night, we were eating dinner around 7:00 pm. We heard a knock at the door. It was R. Stanley Paving, they said they just finished up a job down the road and they had extra materials left over. They needed to get it off the truck or it would harden. They said they would give us a great deal of $1.00 a sq. ft.

My husband said we weren't interested. Then the guy from R. Stanley said that he would help us out, if we helped them... bottom line it needs to come off the truck tonight. We could work something out and it won't be much, just a few hundred dollars. He said Please... we really need your help.

Around 9:00 pm they started working and in the morning they came back. The owner was present and the rep that fast talked us was there also. Make a long story short... the fast talker said they we never said it was extra material. They actually made a special trip to pick the materials up after hours. That they were doing us a favor. My husband and I knew right there we were scammed!! They said we owed them $1,875.00. I said I thought it was only going to be a couple hundred dollars like you originally said and he said he never said that!! We told R. Stanley we only had $1,200.0 in our checking that was available.... they said okay and took it.

The owner handed me an agreement and asked me to fill the top part out and sign the bottom. I started too and noticed the amount owed said $1, and that was it. I said please fill the rest of the amount in of $1,200.00. He did it and I wrote him a check to R. Stanley Paving. The were getting ready to leave and the owner asked me to void the check and make it out to R. Stanley instead. So, I did it.Desired Settlement: I just want someone to contact them and let them know... this is poor business practice!! They're liars and it's terrible how they take advantage of the public. They came to our house and ripped us off. They look advantage of us and we fell for it.
