R. Talsorian Games Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Sincerely, [redacted]

My name is Lisa P[redacted]. I am, and have been for many years, business manager of R.Talsorian Games. It was my responsibility to oversee communications to you, the backers, and I failed at this.  The Mekton Zero project goes on and we are reinstating a concrete plan for putting out...

information on our progress, but first, I should explain a few things from behind the scenes. Why we have had delays. We have had, and still have, continuing layout problems. The book is in Quark 7.5. Our books have been created in Quark for many years. Unfortunately, about the time we moved to Seattle, there was a change made in Quark in the Mac environment such that we could no longer make pdf.s It was decided at that time to change over to PC. Quark 7.5 is unstable in the PC environment. Modules and small files can be managed, but the book, even broken down in sections, crashes and corrupts. There was the possibility of putting the book into InDesign but we thought at that time that the learning curve for the team here would be too long. In looking over the files this morning, the first one we attempted, the character section, corrupted and would not open. We didn’t lose anything because we now have back-ups on our backups, but it is difficult to make progress. This book is not the Mekton Zero we envisioned when we started. Importing the pages to show you turned out to be more complex than expected. Due to a desire to incorporate feedback we received when we did release pages to the backers, the book became about 100 pages longer and the layout about three times as complex. We have simplified the Core book to a layout we believe is more viable. The book is entirely finished except for the History and World sections which were actually written years ago, we still cannot get them to stay stable in layout. Michael wanted to have the book done in pdf. in August. Some time was lost in our work with CDPR concerning Cyberpunk 2077. Besides the problems above, he has been recovering from abdominal surgery for four weeks.WHY I MADE THE INCORRECT CALLBecause the acrimonious nature of the Kickstarter feedback from some parties had driven two people to quit oversight already and I felt that only concrete dates I did not have would make it any better, I made the decision to go dark in the hopes that we would soon be wrapped up. I let down all of you, but mostly I let down the many production people here who have been working their as off, under the most frustrating of conditions, to get this project done for you. It was the desire to release the whole pack in My name is Lisa P[redacted]. I am, and have been for many years, business manager of R.Talsorian Games. I let down all of you, but mostly I let down the many production people here who have been working their as off, under the most frustrating of conditions, to get this project done for you. It was the desire to release the whole pack in pdf. at the same time, but they are now looking at which pieces we can release now to show that they have indeed been working on it all along. The plan as it stands: There will be an email update every second Friday, noon P.S.T. starting this Friday October 16th.  If we haven’t got anything to say we’ll tell you we have no news. If we’ve lost ground or made ground, we’ll tell you. Many of you have trusted R. Talsorian for many years. We will rebuild that trust.R. Talsorian Games apologizes for the delays. I apologize for not giving you the respect you deserve.  See you on Friday.Lisa P[redacted]This is the statement issued this week. I will be answering the backlog of Kickstarter email, but it will take a while. We have committed to biweekly updates at this time so we can be sure to have a report to give and if we have to tell the backers that a portion of the book crashed or any of the numbers of frustrations, we will tell them. Production is looking at the status of the various items, particularly the books as promised, and that will be part of the update for this week, Friday October 16 at noon PST. Many Kickstarters never come to fruition. This one is moving if slowly. The problem here is one of communication. I felt that updates should be about the product rather than the process. This was wrong. We will keep people updated on the process and we will finish with some beautiful products.  Lisa P[redacted], Business Manager, RTG
