Radon Systems Reviews (1)

I had a radon system installed at my house in 2002. The system has a fan which runs continuously to draw radon out of the basement into the outside air. The fan is installed outside of the house. Eventually the fans malfunction and have to be replaced. On November 25, 2014, after contacting Radon Systems LLC (the original installers) to replace the fan which had started to malfunction (making a loud grinding noise and not working properly), a technician came to my house and installed a new fan. I paid the technician $375.00 for the fan and installation. The next day the new fan starting making a loud humming noise, and I called Radon Systems LLC to come back and replace the fan. Until the previous fan malfunctioned, it was quiet and made no noise such as this new one. I was told over the phone that they order fans in batches, and once in awhile they get one that vibrates. I was told they would replace the fan and no cost to me. However, since then the fan still vibrates and makes a loud humming echo noise throughout the house. I looked at the installation outside and it seems to me all they did was wrap a rubber gasket around the fan. But regardless, this fan also hums and echoes. I have called Radon Systems again but they have not responded, other than to tell me they would like me to be home when they come back. I have left a message with them, telling them when I can be there, but they have not responded since. I realize appliances sometimes make noises, but this is an appliance which rans continuously, humming and echoing throughout the house 24/7. I can hear it when I try to watch TV, when I'm trying to eat, when I'm trying to read, and I can hear it upstairs in my bedroom when I am trying to sleep.Product_Or_Service: [redacted]Order_Number: 1813Desired SettlementAt this time, since Radon systems LLC either refuses to replace the fan, or they cannot replace the fan with one that is quiet, I would prefer a refund. If however they can replace the fan with one that is quiet, makes no humming noise, vibrating, or echoing throughout the house, then that would satisfy me. Business Response [redacted],I received your letter last week pertaining to CASE ID # XXXXXX. Radon Systems LLC and Mike [redacted]. On Friday, we revisited the house and replaced Mr. [redacted]'s radon fan. He said it was much quieter and was ok with the replacement. Let me know if you need anything else from me or have any further questions. Thanks,[redacted]Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Radon Systems LLC did replace the fan and it is quieter however, the fan is only vacuuming at half the strength of the original fans. After contacting Radon Systems LLC about my concern that the reduced strength of the fan could mean insufficient radon mitigation, the answer I received was inadequate in my opinion. Therefore I am in the process of testing my house for radon, and will not withdraw my complaint until I see those test results showing that the Radon levels are safe, which is why I had the radon mitigation system installed by Radon Systems LLC.
