Rag N' Bones Reviews (1)

Review: I hired Rag N' Bones to make a repair to my toilet (replace the tank fill valve). The representative came out and replaced the part, and I noticed the toilet was leaking afterward. He turned off the supply valve, put some sealant on it, and told me to let it dry. The water supply was left off for several hours. Later that evening when the supply was turned back on, the supply valve started to leak. I closed the valve, and it was still trickling every once in a while. I called the company, and sent an email. I received a response later in the day saying that the supply valve was beyond their capability. I told them that the valve is leaking as a result of their service. The response received was "My guy said he left the valve off and it wasnt leaking, we can't be responsible if someone else messed with valve after the fact." No one "messed with the valve after the fact", besides turning the water back on after the sealant had time to dry.Desired Settlement: I would like this to be noted on their business record, and ideally I would like them to cover the plumbing fees to repair the issue they caused.

Response:

To whom it May Concern, This is in response to complain # [redacted] about a supply valve leak. The customer in question had contacted me with concerns regarding a leaky supply valve. The job my representative had was to replace the fill and float mechanism inside the tank. In order to do so, he had to shut off the valve. Being that these valves are continously turned on; over time they begin to deteriorate making it easy to leak at any time. With this knoweledge; my representative did turn it on again to ensure it was not leaking before leaving. It infact, was not. My representative had also asked him if he would like anything done for the remainder of the time which he responded, "Nope I am all set."

However, knowing the nature of these mechanisms; I easily understood why the client in question saw it as suspicious work, and I took my time to further explain how simple it is for those valves to become faulty. He wanted me to come over and fix the valve, but I explained I could not as I don't have the proper license to practice that scope of plumbing work. I then immediately offered him 2 hours of work for free; which he quickly declined. He was just focused on contacting the Revdex.com, and not at all responsive to any sort of communication involving a mending of the situation. Hence his desired settlement is for this to be "noted on our business record."

This is unfortunate because I run an honest business, and I have made every attempt to repair the situation and he ended communication prematurely. This type of quick action is poison to honest small businesses trying to create positive customer relations. It's a simple way to take advantage of an easily repaired situation. At this point it just seems like malicious attempt. However, I will pay the plumbing expenses of $100 without hesitation in case I am incorrect about his motives after proof of plumber's invoice.

Thank you,

Consumer

Good morning,

At the beginning of the month (October 7th) I accepted a case resolution, and was expecting compensation from the company in question, but haven't heard anything since then, nor have I received the agreed upon remuneration. Can you please send follow up to the company regarding the outstanding complaint resolution, requesting payment be made? Please let me know if you need any other details.

Thank you,

- [redacted]

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business. The business is misrepresenting the facts, and I have emails from them to back up my complaint, in which they confirm they worked on the toilet, and the fact that something else broke was not their problem and were unwilling to assist (and at that time, had not offered any additional services). It was at that time that I submitted the Revdex.com complaint, and that they should expect to hear from your organization. It is at that time (after being contacted by the Revdex.com) that the business reached out to me to offer replacement services. As their initial response to my query was so negative, and their services cause more harm than good, I had no interest in receiving replacement services.

Regardless, I'm accepting this claim to resolve this case. I understand that by choosing to accept the business response that my complaint will be closed as resolved.
