Review: I contracted with Rainbow Builders for the replacement of the roof on my house, attached garage and shed (outbuilding). My house and garage is fitted with aluminum gutters protected by Gutter Helmet brand gutter guards (installed in 2008 with a lifetime performance warranty). Rainbow Builders contract included the removal and replacement of the gutter guards which was required for the removal of the old roofing materials and the installation of the new roof. Rainbow only unfastened the rear edge of the gutter guards and folded them forward to remove the old roof and install the new. This meant that the aluminum guard panels were subject to being blown up and down and having debris slide over them during the work. The result was that every panel was bent. The Gutter Helmet gutter guard system is screwed to the roof to allow for the adjustments in position necessary to align the outside edge of the guard with the gutter. Rainbow nailed the back edge of the gutter guards through the shingles and roof sheeting without aligning the front edge of the guards to the outside edge of the gutter. Now rain water overshoots the gutter in places and debris enters the gutters in others. The system cannot be aligned to function properly because the back edge was nailed instead of being screwed.I have had Gutter Helmet come to my home to assess the situation. They have advised me that the gutter guards must be replaced as all of the panels are now bent and permanently attached to the roof. The cost estimate for removal of the existing guards and replacement with the same new guards is $4,400.00.Desired Settlement: I want Rainbow Builders & Remodelers to pay to me $4,400 minus $300 (money retained from Rainbow's final payment) equals $4,100.00. I will then contract for the replacement of the guards.
