Review: A Rainbow Forest tow truck dropped a piece of wood off of the truck which struck my windshield on the interstate and when I called the company they originally agreed to pay for the replacement but when I called back to get it scheduled they then refused saying they didn't carry wood on the trucks. When I called back a 3rd time they said they did have wood on the truck but they only carried 5'-6' boards on the truck and it must have been something the driver hit. If this was the case the driver would have definitely seen the board as it was large enough to shatter my windshield in a pattern of the board that hit my car. I took a picture on the interstate when it happened and the company refused to even look at the picture to see the damages so I could explain that the amount of damage done was not from something the driver hit and picked up with his back wheels.Desired Settlement: I would like the company to make good on what they promised. To replace my windshield.

Review: My Vehicle broke down and I called Rainbow Forest Garage which was near by where I broke down. I was told over the phone that if I had my car towed there,it would be 50.00 for towing and 30.00 for them to TELL me what was wrong with it. I agreed to let them tow it there. After 5 days of calling and being told several times they had not got to it yet on the fifth day I was told that it started up and they thought I had just gotten some bad gas and told me to come get it and put some stp treatment in my tank and it would be fine. I went and got my car and paid him 50.00 for the tow on July 3rd 2013. I drove to a restaraunt and came out about 30 minutes later and again my car will not start. I call him and I'm told we will come tow it back here. This time they have my car for 10 days, I dealt mainly with the ownner David when I could reach him. I ask for prices and was told we don't know yet. I was also told they had to work on other cars before mine .I was then told they had put a module on and took it back off which I later found out that they charged me to do this and I was never informed they were doing that till after the fact.I was told that they replaced a cam censor box and a wire and that did not fix the problem either and after telling me to call back later over and over and over again,one morning he informed me oh yeah we are sure its the computer,I ordered that and its here we are gonna put that on,first I had heard of that.Then I was once again told my car was fixed and the charge was 394.55. I paid it but it made no sense to me why they charged me to put an item on and take it off when it didn't fix it and the orignal 30.00 to TELL me what was wrong with it turned into that much for a wire, a cam box cover that was cracked and now this computer and all the rest was labor he said and of course to put stuff on and take it back off and again I was never informed of any prices till it was all done,all I ever heard is we don't know yet when I would ask.So I get my car and it breaks down again,I call him and he says try to get it started and bring it back and I said I can't right now I'm packed and leaving town with family for a month and he says well just bring it back to me when you get back if it will start at all,because as they know as well as I one problem is sometimes it will and sometimes it won't start and it will also cut off on you when driving.Now I get back into town and I called in advance to let him know I'm bringing it back over the weekend and leaving keys under my mat,he then has it for 2 more weeks ,calling again and again,he says might be this, might be that, we might have it figured out,then its we don't know whats wrong with it,we can't figure it out,its not fixed,we can't fix it ,come get it.So now I have paid him to fix my car and they did not and I had to have it towed to another garage and I want my money back . I paid him because he said they fixed my car BUT DID NOT ! And said they did not and for me to come get it !Desired Settlement: I want my money back because I paid them because they told me they fixed my car and it is not fixed and then they said they can't fix it to come get it ,so I did.Now they have my money and I still have a broken down car!!!

About this complaint,the frist time we towed the car in and we started to the check it ,the engine light was on and show a couple differant problem related to the fuel/o2senors, but the car started. Sometime when towing a vehicle ,it jars the fuel pump and the car will start. Miss [redacted] said they didnt have much money and didnt want to spend any more money on it, so we told her to add some fuel treatment and that might help it. We only charge for the tow TO THE SHOP $50.00 AND DID NOT CHARGE A DISAGNOSTIC FEE!! We did tow this vehicle in the second time at no charge and tested it and found it had no injector paluse to fire the injectors , it get a referance from the crankshaft sensor an tells the computer when to fire the injector. we pull the sensor out and found it was cracked , so we replaced it and still did not have any referance. The ecm (computer) control it, so we put in a new ecm and the vehecile started an run. The check engine light came on so we rescan it and found thet the knock sensor had a broken plug , so we got a new plug end & repaired it. The vehicle started and run fine. we only replaced only what we had to to get to car to run. The car had other problems with the wiring were someone at some other time had fool with it. We spent a lot more time on checking out that we didnt charge for . This is a 1991 model and it has obd1 1st generation of computer system and is very limited on what you can test with a scaner. so in testing you have to test each part seperately and that take time to do. The part we install were an ecm and we rplaced it for second time and the car would still not start and the crankshaft sensor was showing a referance , so we knows it was working. It's hard to work on a veheile when the customer dosnt want to spend any money on it , testing and parts. This vehicle is a 22 year old car and as a car ages they develop problem with ages and some more than other and especially cars with out proper maintenance to them over that time. This car shows that! The wiring in the car is in poor condition, has been fooled with , holes punch in them, out of wiring harness , brital wiring and corrosion at wiring terinals.

For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.First of all,He never told me anything was wrong with the car the first time he had it,just that I had gotten bad fuel and it had started up for them,to come get it and put stp in it and it would be fine.That is WHY he only charged me for towing then.I only said I DID NOT HAVE A BUNCH MORE MONEY to put into it, the THIRD TIME he had it and it was still not fixed and I had already paid 50.00 for the tow the first time and then 397.55 the second time,so yes I said that THE THIRD TIME.He DID NOT tell us anything about the 02 sensor, my husband ask his mechanic if that or the fuel pump could be the problem because a friend suggested that due to simular problemsThey said the fuel pump was fine and getting fuel and that it was also NOT the 02 sensor,again the THIRD time they had it.I COULD NEVER GET A STRAIGHT ANSWER concering anything,prices parts etc... always we don't know yet,and all I was ever told is that it would be 30.00 dollars to tell me what was wrong with the car and they would let me know something and that turned into 140.00dollars to tell me what was wrong and all together the 397.55 and I NEVER gave the OK to do anything they did,they just did it and then told me I owed that much!!!He would tell me to call back tomm. everytime I talked to him and when I would call he was hardly ever avail. I was told he went home,went to an auction to purchase a vehicle or had to take a vehicle home he had purchased or oh yeah it was raining and he wasn't avail. and the mechanic had to leave early because of THE RAIN! I have had my car for about 2 years and I have maintained my car, Thank you very much. I had it towed to a garage when it broke down,because I wanted it fixed. Again The THIRD time you had it ,you had it for 2 weeks and during that time you said you were not going to charge me anymore until you found the problem to fix and then you would let me knowTHAT TIME what was wrong and how MUCH MORE it would cost and then you told me that you DID NOT know what was wrong with it and that you COULD NOT fix it and TO COME GET IT!!! Well guess what I had it taken to another garage and what you said WASN'T WRONG,WAS and I HAVE NOT HAD ANYMORE PROBLEMS since THAT GARAGE FIXED IT!!!! IMAGINE THAT!!!!!! So, Once again, I WANT MY MONEY BACK, I had to pay another garage for what YOU should have done in the first place and just fixed it ,instead of all of your duck n dodge,no straight answers game that you played. Review: Rainbow Forest towed my 1997 Honda Accord from an accident scene on December 30, 2013 at approximately 5:00 PM. My daughter was the driver of the vehicle, but my wife, [redacted], arrived at the scene. My wife requested the vehicle to be towed to [redacted] Shop. Our daughter, [redacted] was employed at [redacted] during her Christmas Break from college. I was employed as the [redacted] Service Manager for the past four years. So we are all very familiar with the organization. Rainbow Forest towed our vehicle to their facility at [redacted] Blvd. Our vehicle did not arrive at [redacted] until December 31 at 1:10 PM. Our tow bill resulted in a $550.00 charge, I repeat a $550.00 charge. I’ll break this down:

Towing Charge $200.00 From the accident scene to Rainbow Forest

Tarp $125.00 With no glass breakage on the vehicle, so Tarp was not necessary

Admin $ 75.00

2nd Tow $150.00 From Rainbow Forest to [redacted]

I have been in the Automotive Industry since 1985. I have never experienced such an amount for a towing transaction. We actually had a vehicle towed from Harrisonburg, Va., to [redacted] that did not result in a towing bill of this amount. I have been in Roanoke since 2008. I have utilized Rainbow Forest Automotive on all my professional and personal towing needs. I called David, the owner of Rainbow Forest and questioned the excessive towing bill. He said have a nice day. Due to the age of the vehicle, this was not an accident covered by insurance as far our vehicle was concerned. Rainbow Forest may have assumed that this was an insurance transaction, but it is not. We have to take care of this expense.

Please investigate this transaction that should have been a 2/10 of a mile towing of our vehicle from [redacted] to [redacted] Shop that somehow resulted in a $550.00 tow bill.

Any assistance would be appreciated.Desired Settlement: Adjustment to bill to result in a normal, reasonable tow bill.

I HAVE TO ALWAYS HAVE SOMEONE AND A TRUCK AVAILABLE FOR A 15 TO 20 MINUTE RESPONSE TIME TO THE SENCE, FOR THIS REASON THERE ARE DIFFERENT RATES & FEES FOR THIS SERVICE THAT ALL WRECKER SERVICE DO. WE GIVE OUR RATES TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND OBID BY THEM. WE AND OTHER WRECKER SERVICE HAVE A HIGH COST OF OPERATIONS SUCH AS EQUIPMENT,INSURANCE,EMPLOYEES , WORKMAN COMP. FUEL, LICENSE AND BUSINESS LOCATIONS. THERE ARE OTHER TOWING COMPANIES THAT CHARGE ALOT MORE THAN OUR RATES.

AS FOR THIS ACCIDENT TOW , WE WERE OUT THERE TO PERFORM SERVICES AND IT WAS DARK AND AFTER 5:30 PM AND THE BODY SHOP WAS CLOSED. WE TOLD MRS [redacted] IF WE TOOK IT TO THE BODY SHOP SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE TOW BILL BEFORE WE DROP THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE BODY SHOP WAS CLOSED AND THEY DONT REALLY LIKE US TO DROP ACCIDENT OFF WHEN THEY ARE NOT THERE BECAUSE THEY DONT HAVE A WAY MOVE THE VEHICLE AND HAVE TO CALL US BACK OUT THERE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE WERE THEY WANT IT. SHE TOLD US SHE DIDNT WANT TO PAY FOR IT AT THIS TIME AND TO TAKE IT TO OUR STORAGE LOT AND TOW IT TO THE BODY SHOP THE NEXT DAY. WE ASKED HER IF SHE WANTED US TO TARP THE VEHICLE TO PROTECT IT AND SHE AGGREED. AND WE TOLD HER THERE WOULD BE ADDITION CHARGES FOR THESE SERVICE AND SHE WAS AWARE OF THAT. THE INSUANCE COMPANIES PAY US THESE SAME RATES ALL THE TIME, JUST BECAUSE MR [redacted] DIDNT CARRY FULL COVERAGE INSURANCE AND HAS TO PAY THIS OUT OF POCKET , HE THINKS WE SHOULD REDUCE OUR BILL ,THESE ARE NORMAL RATES FOR OUR SERVICES .
