Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 5, 2017/05/12) */ Contact Name and Title: ***-Operations Manager Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXX Contact Email: [redacted] @ [redacted] .com Ms***'s had come in on May 20th and purchased an install kit, wiring harness and toggle switch from usThe following day May 21st 2016, she came back and we did the install for her on her vehicleWe used the install kit and wire harness that she had purchased the day priorThis harness makes all the connections to from the aftermarket radio, that she had provided (unit was not purchased from us, nor are we aware of where she obtained or the age of this unit) to the factory plugs within the vehicleThe only connections we made were on this harness, no hard-wired connections to any other wires within the vehicle were madeNo other wires in the vehicle were accessed or modified from the way the vehicle was brought to usWhen the vehicle left our shop, the radio was operational and no other electrical issues where indicated being different than when it arrivedHowever, we cannot attest to what happened after the vehicle left our shopThe motor being blown was not indicated to us or were we aware of it as it was brought to us, and left when it was completedAs well as if the motor was exchanged out in the vehicle there is no way it could have been done without someone have accessed the electrical system of the vehicle in some mannerAnd with somebody else having been into the electrical system of the vehicle we have no way of knowing what they did, modified or broke after we did the initial installLike previously mentioned, the radio was working with no other issues mentioned after the work was completed in A few days ago, when we were contacted by Ms [redacted] to look at her unit, we brought it our storeThe only complaint we were informed of was the radio was not workingUpon inspection of the vehicle when it was brought to us, showed no "loose wires" under her dash attached to anything that we accessed previouslyAll of our connections were still completed and attached to the factory plug as they were when we completed the job almost a year priorBy her claim that nobody would touch the wiring because of the radio install, we are unaware of how then these wires would have been fixed over the year this supposedly happenedUpon tracing why her radio was not working we tracked it back radio accessory fuse in the trunk of the vehicle where the fuse had been removedThere are no signs of any burnt or damaged wires behind the radio, or in-between the radio and fuse boxWithout this radio accessory fuse being in place the radio would have never workedFor the radio to have been on and go "black and start smoking" this fuse would have had to been in placeNo power to the radio is capable without this fuseWe are unaware of how this fuse was removed, as they don't just fall out of fuse box, and it wasn't there when it was brought to us, but was apparently working if the unit was lit up enough to go blackMs [redacted] may not have removed the fuse, but somebody other than our shop didAfter we replaced the fuse in the truck, we were able to trace power all the way to the back of the radio, but the unit would not power upThe problem is within the radio, not external in the vehicleAgain, all the wire connections are solid and insulated from our initial connections, using the same parts we use, so the malfunction of the radio could not have come from something related to the installThe claim of the dash light not working was never brought to our attention prior to this claim being filedEven when the vehicle was brought in a few days ago for us to check the radio, the dash lights not working was never mentioned to either our Store Manager or Install Manager, both of which were on duty that day It is unfortunate that this has happened, and we do not like seeing anybody have to go through this, and given all the issues and run around Ms [redacted] has had with this ordeal from the other companies, we would gladly help her and be willing to give her hour of troubleshooting labor at no charge to her to help find the dash light issueIt would run $an hour for anything over that hourAs she was informed the radio not working is an internal problem in the radio, not in the vehicleAs mentioned before it is a radio that she brought to us, so it is not a brand that we carry so we have no warranty abilities with that companyNothing that we did had any effect on the radio malfunction as mentioned aboveWe do ask that she would provide all the receipts and technicians paperwork from the other companies that she had work on the vehicleThis would save her any extra time in us tracking down the issues that were eliminated by what the other companies have previously checked or what work they had performedWe made an attempt to contact Ms [redacted] by phone (at the number listed on this filing) and left a message on 5/11/to also inform her of the same offer, but as of the time of this response no return call has been received Initial Consumer Rebuttal / [redacted] (3000, 8, 2017/05/16) */ The only electrical work that has been done on my vehicle is by this companyA motor mount, tune up and the engine being replaced had no effect on the radio whatsoeverThis company just does [redacted] work and they lie to try and make it look like they did nothing wrongI have never had any of my fuses taken out of my carThe same fuses have been in the vehicle the entire timeThe fact that they are trying to cover up the issue of hooking my stereo up incorrectly makes me not want this company working on my vehicle at allThe stereo unit I bought was brought to them brand new in the box with the receipt which goes to show that this company liesI refuse to pay for them to fix what they messed upAnd as far as the loose wires, they were shoved under the dash by the toggle switch by their tech Final Business Response / [redacted] (4000, 10, 2017/05/16) */ Again, we apologize for the problems that Ms [redacted] is having, but as documented above it is not stemming from the radio installBased off Ms [redacted] statement, she is unaware that the Charger is CANBUS system which means all the electrical units in the car is tied together to a central computer system within the vehicleHaving the engine replaced can have an effect on the radio if something was done incorrectly during the removal or reinstallExchanging the engine could have had an effect on any of thousands electrical components within the vehicle, all the way back to the tail lightsWe are not saying that it did, there is no way for us to verify that after this long of a period after the install was completedThere is a possibility that it didn't as it continued to operate afterwardAs per her statement the vehicle sat for monthsThe vehicle was then brought back to us on 5/9/to check the issue of the radio not workingThe radio was working correctly when it left our shop (as nothing was mentioned about it not working correctly then) and apparently it was working for the last or so monthsWhich again brings us back to the proof that there were no lies in our responses as the radio will not work without that fuseAgain, I am not saying that she removed itWe don't know who or what didBut when the vehicle was brought to us there was no power to the back of the radioLike stated in the previous response, we tracked back from the radio and found the missing fuseAfter putting the fuse in there was power to the back of the radio againSo if, as Ms [redacted] claims, all the "same fuses have been in the vehicle the entire time" it would have been an impossibility for the radio to have been working at allAs for loose wires by the toggle switch there would have been no wires that were brought over to the toggle switch that would not have been connected to somethingThere would have been no reason to bring extra wires over to itFor the video to work the brake wire from the radio would have had to have a switch to replicate the emergency brakeThere would have been wire brought over from the radio, and then one running from the switch to a ground pointIf one of these wires were not connected at either end the video would not have workedWhich it has not been mentioned that the video didn't work so they would have had to have been connected Lying and covering up issues? Really? Pretty sure we have been extremely open, honest and forth comingFrom explaining everything we found to Ms***'s husband when he brought the vehicle in to explaining it in detail in these responsesWe are extremely anxious to find a resolution to this, which is why I personally reached out and called her on 5/11/so that we could make arrangement to do soBut still to date have not received a returned callWe would like nothing more than to find a way to make Ms [redacted] happyWe made an offer in the last response, to which Ms [redacted] made it clear that wasn't what she wantedBecause she is still insistent that it is from something we did I am more than happy to bring her back in so we can dig deeper into the install, to prove thisAnd to reassure her as per her statement, we will look deeper into the install at no chargeAs well I want to make sure it is done when I, the Operations Manager, am presentI am more than willing to make the commitment that if we for some reason find that it is from something we have done that I will gladly refund her parts and labor as well as even though the radio did not come from us, I will give her a new oneBut we have to have the vehicle to be able to do this, as well as the paperwork (work orders, receipts, or whatever showing what was done) from the other shopsWe have to know what they found that she is referring to

And with somebody else having been into the electrical system of the vehicle we have no way of knowing what they did, modified or broke after we did the initial install. Like previously mentioned, the radio was working with no other issues mentioned after the work was completed in 2016.
A few days ago, when we were contacted by Ms. [redacted] to look at her unit, we brought it our store. The only complaint we were informed of was the radio was not working. Upon inspection of the vehicle when it was brought to us, showed no "loose wires" under her dash attached to anything that we accessed previously. All of our connections were still completed and attached to the factory plug as they were when we completed the job almost a year prior. By her claim that nobody would touch the wiring because of the radio install, we are unaware of how then these wires would have been fixed over the year this supposedly happened. Upon tracing why her radio was not working we tracked it back radio accessory fuse in the trunk of the vehicle where the fuse had been removed. There are no signs of any burnt or damaged wires behind the radio, or in-between the radio and fuse box. Without this radio accessory fuse being in place the radio would have never worked. For the radio to have been on and go "black and start smoking" this fuse would have had to been in place. No power to the radio is capable without this fuse. We are unaware of how this fuse was removed, as they don't just fall out of fuse box, and it wasn't there when it was brought to us, but was apparently working if the unit was lit up enough to go black. Ms. [redacted] may not have removed the fuse, but somebody other than our shop did. It is unfortunate that this has happened, and we do not like seeing anybody have to go through this, and given all the issues and run around Ms. [redacted] has had with this ordeal from the other companies, we would gladly help her and be willing to give her 1 hour of troubleshooting labor at no charge to her to help find the dash light issue. It would run $65 an hour for anything over that 1 hour. As she was informed the radio not working is an internal problem in the radio, not in the vehicle. As mentioned before it is a radio that she brought to us, so it is not a brand that we carry so we have no warranty abilities with that company. Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2017/05/16) */
The only electrical work that has been done on my vehicle is by this company... A motor mount, tune up and the engine being replaced had no effect on the radio whatsoever. This company just does [redacted] work and they lie to try and make it look like they did nothing wrong. I have never had any of my fuses taken out of my car. The same fuses have been in the vehicle the entire time. The fact that they are trying to cover up the issue of hooking my stereo up incorrectly makes me not want this company working on my vehicle at all. The stereo unit I bought was brought to them brand new in the box with the receipt which goes to show that this company lies. I refuse to pay for them to fix what they messed up. And as far as the loose wires, they were shoved under the dash by the toggle switch by their tech.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2017/05/16) */
Again, we apologize for the problems that Ms. [redacted] is having, but as documented above it is not stemming from the radio install. Based off Ms. [redacted] statement, she is unaware that the 2006 Charger is CANBUS system which means all the electrical units in the car is tied together to a central computer system within the vehicle. Having the engine replaced can have an effect on the radio if something was done incorrectly during the removal or reinstall. Exchanging the engine could have had an effect on any of thousands electrical components within the vehicle, all the way back to the tail lights. We are not saying that it did, there is no way for us to verify that after this long of a period after the install was completed. There is a possibility that it didn't as it continued to operate afterward. As per her statement the vehicle sat for 7 months. The vehicle was then brought back to us on 5/9/17 to check the issue of the radio not working. The radio was working correctly when it left our shop (as nothing was mentioned about it not working correctly then) and apparently it was working for the last 4 or so months. Which again brings us back to the proof that there were no lies in our responses as the radio will not work without that fuse. Again, I am not saying that she removed it. We don't know who or what did. But when the vehicle was brought to us there was no power to the back of the radio. Like stated in the previous response, we tracked back from the radio and found the missing fuse. After putting the fuse in there was power to the back of the radio again. So if, as Ms. [redacted] claims, all the "same fuses have been in the vehicle the entire time" it would have been an impossibility for the radio to have been working at all. As for loose wires by the toggle switch there would have been no wires that were brought over to the toggle switch that would not have been connected to something. There would have been no reason to bring extra wires over to it. For the video to work the brake wire from the radio would have had to have a switch to replicate the emergency brake. There would have been 1 wire brought over from the radio, and then one running from the switch to a ground point. If one of these wires were not connected at either end the video would not have worked. Which it has not been mentioned that the video didn't work so they would have had to have been connected.
Lying and covering up issues? Really? Pretty sure we have been extremely open, honest and forth coming. From explaining everything we found to Ms. [redacted]'s husband when he brought the vehicle in to explaining it in detail in these responses. We are extremely anxious to find a resolution to this, which is why I personally reached out and called her on 5/11/17 so that we could make arrangement to do so. But still to date have not received a returned call. We would like nothing more than to find a way to make Ms. [redacted] happy. We made an offer in the last response, to which Ms. [redacted] made it clear that wasn't what she wanted. Because she is still insistent that it is from something we did I am more than happy to bring her back in so we can dig deeper into the install, to prove this. And to reassure her as per her statement, we will look deeper into the install at no charge. As well I want to make sure it is done when I, the Operations Manager, am present. I am more than willing to make the commitment that if we for some reason find that it is from something we have done that I will gladly refund her parts and labor as well as even though the radio did not come from us, I will give her a new one. But we have to have the vehicle to be able to do this, as well as the paperwork (work orders, receipts, or whatever showing what was done) from the other shops. We have to know what they found that she is referring to.
