WE have checked with all parties on the re-palletization possibilitythe goods arrived on the exact same pallets that left from Ohio There were no customs exams performed at origin or destinationPallets were delivered to client’s residence same way they arrived in Rotterdam
Corlett advised that the pallets (in the pictures) looked very much like the ones they released in Cleveland. The final crated volume from the trucking company grew from cftto cft…..in both cases, the dimensions for each pallet were the same for all three. Very surprised the client is claiming a lot of books are damaged, as they appear to be in relatively good shape on the pallets. We can certainly file an insurance claim if there is indeed damage, but there does not seem to be any reason to get the Revdex.com involved as if anything, this will be an insurance issue.Sincerely,Doug W***

Hi ***,I spoke with the folks that loaded the shipment at origin, and they tell me that one crate was completely full and the second crate was three quarters fullI have asked the same question of the delivery folks and they tell me that one cate was full and the second crate was slightly less than half fullSince I do not have any pictures from origin or destination, except for the one you sent me of the full crate minus some cartons, I'm really not sure exactly what the final volume should have beenBased on the picture you sent me, I can see you had a lit of odd shaped cartons, which makes loading at a high density difficultI know we paid the truckers and the steamship line for 419Cf., which was the exact outside dimensions of the two cratesThe carriers do not care of the crates are totally empty, they charge us based on the outside dimensions of the crates.Matt settlement of 344Cf seemed to be fair based on the information given him by the origin packersSince it is impossible to know exactly what the true crated volume would be, I would suggest that Rainier makes a goodwill gesture and splits the difference with you.......so instead of charging the 344Cf., we will charge for 300CfCubic footage is an odd measurement to play with, especially for small shipments like thisYou cannot measure the individual items and assume the measurements will add up to the same total after crating, as you will lose at least 25% in the way the goods fit into the crate and the volume of the crate and pallet as wellFor example, a crate can measure 5ft x5ftx5ft which is 125CfIf you just add one foot to each side and make it 6x6x6, now your 125Cf just became 216Cf!So you can see in this one small example, just adding one foot to each dimension practically doubles the size of the shipment! We would like to bring this issue to a fair and reasonable conclusion, so please consider our goodwill gesture above and let me know your thoughts.Best always,Doug

I am rejecting this response because:The rates references by Mark are from before the furthered conversations of lower the weight and price. As stated before, I did not ask for Mark's answer by phone in writing which was a very large mistake on my part, but I didn't think I had to worry at that point considering all the information I was being told by everyone at that point agreed with the statement that if I lowered the weight my price would go down. I can agree to change the amount I am disagreeing with to $1, 840, this amount comes from the high estimate I was given of $6,from Eric at Union Transfer and Storage. I'm also now a bit concerned that the quotes, prices, billing was mixed as Mark has references a different moving company from Madison in his response, Armstrong movers. From all the contacts I had, there was no Armstrong movers from Madison involved. Also, about a month after I moved I received an email from Mark addressed to an individual by the name of Claire. Perhaps, so of this was a mistake of billing, but I still feel, regardless of the situation it needs to be addressed.Thank you,
Sincerely,

The shipment was picked up on 11/27/by our agent, Atlantic Relo in Denver and placed into lift vansThey filled up one 200Cf lift van to the absolute maximum capacity, and then tried to load the overflow into a 100Cfoverflow crateThey could not manage to squeeze the overflow items into the
100Cfcrate, so they loaded them into a second 200Cf lift van, and we just charged the client on the space he took up, which was 144Cf of the 200Cf crateAs I mentioned, the first 200Cf crate was full and due to the irregular sizes of many of the boxes (see attached picture of the overflow crate), the overflow had to be placed in a 200Cf crate and we charged for only the space occupied (144Cf).e believe Atlantic Relo did their best to crate the shipment as tight as possible, and also believe that we charged the client fairlyIt should be noted that for shipping purposes, Rainier paid for 400Cf.incerly,oug W***Tell us why here

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me
Hi Doug,? As you say I had some odd shaped cartons, but I would say the majority of the shipment where regular moving boxesI’ve been told that I would lose 15-20% (according to web pages? and your coworker) which would put me at around - CfYour example where a 53ft crate turns out to be 63ft, is the result of a 20% incorrect measurement in every dimensionMeasuring 20% too short in all directions consistently for 50+ boxes is quite a lot if you ask meWith that said I see where you are coming from and I will accept your goodwill gesture to charge for Cf and put this behind usAs previously stated I’m pleased with the other parts of this move and believe this is the result of your partners not doing their job properly.? Regards,***

I am rejecting this
response because:
The crate in the
photo Rainier attached? (taken by me)? does not show the overflow
crate, it is in fact the “filled up” crateThe overflow boxes were unpacked
from its crate in Amsterdam because there was so much wasted space in it according to the
local firmMy overflow boxes where put in a small pile to the right of the
crate in the photo, and as you can see there isn’t any crate thereI was even told by the
local movers that everything easily could have fitted in one crateThe fact that Rainier
refers to the “filled up” crate as the overflow crate is proof that Atlantic
Relo clearly didn’t pack the crate “to the absolute maximum capacity”I would also like to add
that? Atlantic Relo did a home inspection and viewed all my packed boxes
and agreed that my estimate (cubic feet) seemed correct? Sincerely,

Dear [redacted].   Happy New Year.  I hope you are doing well.  I was a bit confused by the below e-mail I received from Rainier CEO, Doug W[redacted] (Copied here) related to a complaint you made to the Revdex.com about final charges for your move from Madison, WI to...

France.    While, it is true that there was quite a bit of back and forth between you, me and Eric I[redacted] of Armstrong Relocation in Madison in regards to whether it made the most sense for you to take a container or liftvans, I had sent you only one quote for a 20ft container and that was for up to 5000 lbs. at $8350.00.   Further, on April 4, as part of that discussion, I sent you the following response regarding weight:   Hi [redacted].  When you take the container, your cost is mostly based on weight and there won’t be huge differences in overall cost based on fluctuations of weight.  If you plan to move in July, this could certainly wait until May.  Why don’t I plan on following back up with you in early May if I haven’t heard anything from you beforehand.     Your final response to me regarding the matter after a second estimate from Eric and more back and forth was the following on June 12:     Sorry for the very delayed message. My husband and I have gone back and forth on this whole moving thing. After looking over quotes and deciding on everything. Your original quote of around the $8,600, I believe, is what we are going to stay with. It allows us to move the most and will be the easiest for me here.    There was no further discussion of pricing, weight, or anything until after the pickup.  The final weight, was indeed less than the estimate, and though I had no obligation to lower my price since my quote to you was flat based on anything up to 5000 lbs., I decided, without consulting you, that I would cut $500.00 from my quote to you since I figured I would receive a reduction of at least that much from Eric (which, by the way, I did).  Cost for container trucking, ocean freight, and customs clearance and delivery in France are all flat based on the size of the container, so I received no reduction for costs related to the rest of the services provided after the packing and loading of your container.   I do not understand how you came to a figure of $2193.00 of disputed charges when I my entire bill from Armstrong Relocation for packing and loading your container did not even come to $2000.00.    We will, of course, address your complaint to the Revdex.com, and I am confident that they will agree that we went above and beyond to offer you the $500.00.    If I can assist you in any way further, please don’t hesitate to let me know.   Sincerely,       Mark L[redacted] International Relocation Manager :: Rainier Overseas Movers, Inc.

Dear Revdex.com,This is a totally bogus complaint against Rainier Overseas Movers and should not be posted on our site. This customer contracted with us to pack and ship their goods to Kenya, which we did. After they arrived to Kenya, they discovered that their the Kenya government had not granted their...

visas, which caused their shipment to be held at the port, thus accruing storage fees at the port as the shipment could not be cleared through Customs without a proper Visa in place. Here is a summary of the events below....... We put client in contact with our customs clearance and delivery agent in Nairobi, Kate Freight & Travel Ltd, promptly after booking her move with us.  Our agent advised client of the required documentation for customs clearance. We correctly advised client that all documentation, including the import documentation requested by Kate Freight & Travel Ltd, would need to be in the consignee’s name, whether it be her or her husband.  Several weeks after the goods were shipped client advised Kate Freight & Travel Ltd that both her and her husband had not yet obtained their visas required for customs clearance from the Kenyan government. When shipment arrived at Port Mombasa, client and her husband still had not obtained their visas, so customs clearance could not commence, therefore leading to daily port storage fees. In the absence of the proper documentation required by Kenyan Customs, and as an alternate way of clearing the shipment and minimizing port storage fees, Kate Freight & Travel Ltd needed to use documentation from the husband’s company, and the steamship line manifest had to be changed to his name, a process that takes time with the steamship line. We could not foresee the client and her husband’s visas being delayed, and did what we could for them given the situation.  Port storage fees, if any, are not included in our door to door rate, as clearly stated in our move contract.  Client will need to pay these fees in full directly to Kate Freight & Travel Ltd in local currency.  Kate Freight & Travel Ltd has paid these fees directly to the port authority on their behalf in order to clear the shipment and avoid any further delays and port storage fees.

I am rejecting this response because: While I appreciate Mr. L[redacted] responding to you, the Revdex.com, so quickly I don't agree with his statements.  Mark and I had many discussions of pricing throughout the entire process.  He even had me in contact with Eric, the local mover, contact numerous times.  I am not sure how he could be surprised at my complaint.  I relayed this information to him many times throughout the entire process.  Perhaps the people he has working with him gave me different information than he wanted to, but I fail to see how this is something I should have to take as a loss on my end.  This entire process was unpleasant, but I thought at the end with the lower weight and price it would help with the overall situation considering that is what I was lead to believe the entire time.  I certainly didn't make up figures about weight and price on my own.  Everyone involved that came to my house for estimates and then the moving told me different than I received at the end.  I am embarrassed and angry with myself for not getting the second, third, fourth figures on paper; however, I still believed that US businesses and business people behave with ethics in mind.  Had I honestly known that selling over half my things would result in only a $500 reduction, my entire move would have been changed.  I just wish I had known exactly that before hand with straightforward answers to the many questions I had, and the numerous times I had asked them.  I reason I took the time for this complaint is because I believe I was given incorrect information, and think that should be reflected in what I paid. Furthermore, I certainly hope that this never happens to another person moving internationally.
Sincerely,

Hello,   Thank you for contacting Rainier Overseas Movers, Inc. regarding my complaint #[redacted]. The company notified me today that they will refund me full, so this issue looks like it should be resolved.  Thank you again for your help.  Best, [redacted]

Tell Dear [redacted]. I am responding to to a complaint you made to the Revdex.com about final charges for your move from Madison, WI to France.   I have reviewed your file here, and note that there was quite a bit of back and forth between you, Mark and Eric I[redacted] of Armstrong Relocation in Madison in regards to whether it made the most sense for you to take a container or lift-vans. Mark sent you only one quote for a 20ft container and that was for up to 5000 lbs. at $8350.00.   Further, on April 4, as part of that discussion, he sent you the following response regarding weight: “Hi [redacted].  When you take the container, your cost is mostly based on weight and there won’t be huge differences in overall cost based on fluctuations of weight.  If you plan to move in July, this could certainly wait until May.  Why don’t I plan on following back up with you in early May if I haven’t heard anything from you beforehand.”  Your final response to Mark regarding the matter after a second estimate from Eric and more back and forth was the following on June 12:  “Sorry for the very delayed message. I am rejecting this response because:it is unfortunate that a business would so flippantly retort that a valid concern over services rendered would be "bogus". I suppose there's nothing to be done here as it is clear that rainier refuses to take responsibilty for their lack of understanding of kenyan policy and their inability to properly advise us. their responses speak for themselves. any negatuve reviews about them come with a callous callout and complete denial. hopefully future potential customers can see through that type of "service" and choose a company more interested in customer service even after they've been paid. Sincerely,
[redacted]
