Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:He is not telling the truth I paid him without hesitation to fix the leak in the roof I wanted the leak fixed, not something else like covering up nails He is not telling the truth about his time here He was not here over two hours, but closer to a half hour, which can be proven if he shows the time that he took the picture of the roof He said that he would return and fix it if it still leaked He never did He ignored my requests to return to fix the roof or to refund the money Regards, [redacted]

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:Mr [redacted] continues to not tell the truth I never tried to bargain down his price, nor did I hesitate to pay him when he finished his work However, before he started the work, I did tell him that I wanted the leak fixed He started talking about some nails that needed covering up I said I wanted the leak fixed He obviously was not there two hours, nor would it take twenty minutes to carry some sealant up a short ladder When he completed the work, he said that he would return if it still leaked When it leaked the next morning, he refused to return At this point, we have fixed the leak ourselves quite easily and inexpensively, not the thousands of dollars that he said in his answer It appears that he does not know his job very well, nor is he honest, and I recommend that nobody ever use this person for professional work Regards, [redacted]

Here is my response to her complaint .When I went over to her house I went inside to take a look at where it was coming in on her chimneyI then went up on the roof to see that there had been several attempts to fix the leakI saw that someone had just shot sealant over some of the mortar cracks
and didn't bother to tool them into it ( This will cover up the leaking area but may not stop the leak )I also saw that someone had sealed the flashing on the cricket in back of the chimney( This could trap water in the chimney not allowing it to get flashed out )I showed her pictures of this and she said her husband was up there trying to seal the mortar cracks because he didn't want to pay anyone to fix the leakI told her this all needed to be removed and done correctlyShe said that she would pay me $to remove all the work her husband did and seal all of the chimney cracksI told her that I couldn't do it for that little amount of money and wasn't interested in the job since I knew she wanted it done very cheaplyShe asked if I would please help her because her husband didn't know what to do and she really needed to get the leak fixedI told her that I wouldn't touch her husbands work and that he needed to remove everything first so I could see what was under itI said that I would seal the rest of the cracks in the chimney mortar properly for $250She said this was too much money and wanted me to do it for lessI told her I couldn't but showed her pictures of all the exposed nail heads on her roof vents and boots and said I would included sealing all of those for her as wellShe said she wasn't interested in doing that work at this time and just wanted to get her leak fixedI pointed out that all these exposed nail heads needed to be sealed properly or they would rust and back out causing rotten decking and future leaksShe said she wasn't interested until I told her that it would cost $just to replace one area of rotten decking so she finally agreed to the workAfter sealing all of the remaining cracks in the chimney mortar and all the exposed nail heads on the roof, which took me hours and not minutes like she states, I came down and showed her pictures of my work and what it should look like to properly seal mortar cracksShe was not exactly forth coming with the check and asked me if she could call me if she had any more problemsI told her she could so she finally wrote me the check for $250The next night she texted me saying that her chimney was still leaking and wanted me to come over and fix the leak I asked her if anything had changed and she said her husband was up in the attic and saw it leaking from the right cornerI told her that her husbands work was covering up the leaking area and that he needed to remove the sealant he put on there so it could be sealed properlyShe texted me more times that night and said that I told her that I would fix the leak for that priceI knew this was what she was trying to hold me to when she asked if she could call me before she wrote me the checkI explained to her that I never tell anyone that I will fix a leak for a certain price since it is sometimes hard to find all the areas that water can come in at and until all the entry points are sealed properly then it will still leakI also told her that the chimney may not have the moisture barrier installed correctly so when the mortar cracks and water gets in it may not flashed out on top of the roof properlyAlso, since the top of the flashing is sealed where water is supposed to get out it will be trapped inI also pointed out that water could be coming in her cricket where it meets the roof if it wasn't installed properly and that I couldn't give her a certain price until I knew all of the entry points of water entering her roofThis work could mean tearing off all the brick, installing the moisture barrier properly and rebuilding the chimneyIt could also mean tearing off her cricket and removing the sealant on top of the step flashing and installing it properlyThis work would cost thousands of dollars if needed to be done and I was just trying to seal her leak by doing it cheaply as she wanted and keep water out so it didn't have to be flashed out but I never told her that I would guarantee I would fix her leak for only $250The last picture shows my work, where the sealant is smooth and tooled in properly, versus her husbands work, where it is just shot on the chimney mortar cracksLet me know if you have any questions or need anything else,

Here are the first and last pictures I took at her house showing the time stamps of 4:21 and 6:02The other 20 minutes was spent loading materials up and down the roof and talking with her And again, I never tell anyone I will fix their leak for a set price Let me know if you have any questions or need anything else,

When I went over to her house I went inside to take a look at where it was coming in on her chimney I then went up on the roof to see that there had been several attempts to fix the leak I saw that someone had just shot sealant over some of the mortar cracks and didn't bother to tool them into it ( This will cover up the leaking area but may not stop the leak ) I also saw that someone had sealed the flashing on the cricket in back of the chimney ( This could trap water in the chimney not allowing it to get flashed out )   I showed  her pictures of this and she said her husband was up there trying to seal the mortar cracks because he didn't want to pay anyone to fix the leak I told her this all needed to be removed and done correctly She said that she would pay me $150 to remove all the work her husband did and seal all of the chimney cracks I told her that I couldn't do it for that little amount of money and wasn't interested in the job since I knew she wanted it done very cheaply She asked if I would please help her because her husband didn't know what to do and she really needed to get the leak fixed   I told her that I wouldn't touch her husbands work and that he needed to remove everything first so I could see what was under it I said that I would seal the rest of the cracks in the chimney mortar properly for $250 She said this was too much money and wanted me to do it for less I told her I couldn't but showed her pictures of all the exposed nail heads on her roof vents and boots and said I would included sealing all of those for her as well She said she wasn't interested in doing that work at this time and just wanted to get her leak fixed I pointed out that all these exposed nail heads needed to be sealed properly or they would rust and back out causing rotten decking and future leaks She said she wasn't interested until I told her that it would cost $350 just to replace one area of rotten decking so she finally agreed to the work   After sealing all of the remaining cracks in the chimney mortar and all the exposed nail heads on the roof, which took me 2 hours and not 30 minutes like she states, I came down and showed her pictures of my work and what it should look like to properly seal mortar cracks She was not exactly forth coming with the check and asked me if she could call me if she had any more problems I told her she could so she finally wrote me the check for $250   The next night she texted me saying that her chimney was still leaking and wanted me to come over and fix the leak I asked her if anything had changed and she said her husband was up in the attic and saw it leaking from the right corner I told her that her husbands work was covering up the leaking area and that he needed to remove the sealant he put on there so it could be sealed properly   She texted me 10 more times that night and said that I told her that I would fix the leak for that price I knew this was what she was trying to hold me to when she asked if she could call me before she wrote me the check I explained to her that I never tell anyone that I will fix a leak for a certain price since it is sometimes hard to find all the areas that water can come in at and until all the entry points are sealed properly then it will still leak I also told her that the chimney may not have the moisture barrier installed correctly so when the mortar cracks and water gets in it may not  flashed out on top of the roof properly Also, since the top of the flashing is sealed where water is supposed to get out it will be trapped in I also pointed out that water could be coming in her cricket where it meets the roof if it wasn't installed properly and that I couldn't give her a certain price until I knew all of the entry points of water entering her roof   This work could mean tearing off all the brick, installing the moisture barrier properly and rebuilding the chimney It could also mean tearing off her cricket and removing the sealant on top of the step flashing and installing it properly This work would cost thousands of dollars if needed to be done and I was just trying to seal her leak by doing it cheaply as she wanted and keep water out so it didn't have to be flashed out but I never told her that I would guarantee I would fix her leak for only $250   The last picture shows my work, where the sealant is smooth and tooled in properly, versus her husbands work, where it is just shot on the chimney mortar cracks   Let me know if you have any questions or need anything else,

I am rejecting this response because:He is not telling the truth.  I paid him without hesitation to fix the leak in the roof.  I wanted the leak fixed, not something else like covering up nails.  He is not telling the truth about his time here.  He was not here over two hours, but closer to a half hour, which can be proven if he shows the time that he took the picture of the roof.  He said that he would return and fix it if it still leaked.  He never did.  He ignored my requests to return to fix the roof or to refund the money.
