Raleigh Durham's Choice Garage Doors Reviews (2)

Raleigh Durham's Choice Garage doors provides false, deceptive, and misleading information to customers. Customer service is also disrespectful.Tuesday night, May 3, we searched for companies to repair our broken spring. We decided to call Raleigh Durham's Choice Garage Doors for service the morning of Wednesday, May 4. The initial contact went fairly smooth. The operator explained that it was $39.99 for a service call. We agreed to a 12p-1p window for a technician to come give an estimate for repair. At 12:15, we called to get an update on our technician's arrival. We were told our tech was 2 hours behind and would not be able to come before 2pm. The techs arrived a little after 2:30pm. Without hesitation, I was informed I had a bad spring and it would need replacing. I was already aware of the issue and was prepared to have it quoted for service. The tech continued on to explain that my [redacted] spring is proprietary and cannot be replaced with a standard spring. The entire casing, spring, and cables would have to be replaced. I was also informed that this was the ONLY way to get my door working again as the [redacted] spring was discontinued. He went on to confirm with his manager about the spring being discontinued for at least 3 years now. Since they don't sell the parts anymore and they are not standard size, I would have to do this service. They see this type of thing a lot and my builder probably used this cheap spring system because of cost. They do these conversions all the time with that manufacturer and the conversion for my door costs $899! Still uneasy over the whole estimate, the manager on site honored an online coupon and an additional manager discount, bringing the total to $600. After speaking with my wife, we decided to just pay the $40 service call and continue pricing with other companies. The tech explained that this was the best price no matter who I called. The spring was discontinued and the only option I have is to convert but I was more than welcome to call around. My wife was fed up with our garage and just wanted to have them fix it anyway. I agreed to the repair and they began work. Being they were late getting there, I had to leave them to pick my kids up from school. While in the car, I called the manufacturer to give them a piece of my mind for discontinuing the spring and not having any alternative for my home. However, I was corrected and told they have not discontinued any springs. The rep I spoke with had been with them over 20 years and said my spring is in stock for $185 + $150 service call. Or the guys at my house could come over and pick up a spring to install on my door. I headed home immediately to dispute the price and information provided by them. I had them halt all work and explained I just spoke with the manufacturer and the spring is NOT discontinued and IS available right now. I explained I had a problem being deceived into a conversion that was not necessary. I didn't have a problem with paying for the service; I just wanted the price adjusted. The tech got Regional on the phone and explained that I agreed to the price and they were about done with the job. He explained the customer spoke with the manufacturer and found he could get the repair done for $350. I was then handed the phone to speak with [redacted] from Regional. I was immediately accused of agreeing to a job and not wanting to pay. My concern was being deceived and being provided false information to make a decision. [redacted] explained that it was MY fault, the customer, for not doing my own research before calling them. And that what I was doing was illegal, not good business practice, and that the call was being recorded. I explained that it is unfair to expect me to pay that price based off false information. After being disrespected for 5 mins, he agreed to $475. The techs apologized for the misunderstanding. I paid for the service and they left. Anyone using this company need to prepare for poor communication, deceitful quotes/pricing, and disrespect if you have to speak with anyone from regional.Desired SettlementI was promised a warranty that I never got and I still don't have a receipt for the service. I am not 100% satisfied with my service and this company needs to adjust their sales practice and customer service immediately!

N.C. Gen. Stat § 75-1.1: Unfair & Deceptive Trade Practices Under North Carolina LawOn 12/2/2015 I [redacted] went online to find someone to fix a broken tension spring on my garage door at my resident. After looking at their well built website, I was intrigued on doing business with them. Website stated "100% satisfaction guaranteed, Guaranteed same day service, 75 dollars off any garage door service today. I proceeded to contact [redacted] Spoke with a gentleman on the phone at 8:46am. Told him my problem with my garage door, told him the size of the spring to be repaired, told him I saw is website and was very happy with doing business with his company. He told me no need to tell him the size of the spring because they keep all the size springs on the truck. I was literally in AWH, Asked him for a price and was given a price of $250.00 with a five percent military discount. The fee of $250.00 was to include two tension springs installed and labor and he was waving the service call fee. Thought that was the best deal since I had contacted several other companies and their price was much higher. He asked me when I wanted it done and I proceeded to tell him ASAP. He then told me he could have a technician at my house to do the repairs between 12:00pm-3:00pm. Well at 12:47pm I received a call and voice message from the technician saying he had a emergency call he had to attend to and he could not make it to my house until 5 or 6pm. At 4:13pm, I contacted the company back to let them know about the issue I was having and having to wait 5 hours for a garage door fix. That did not go well. Technician finally contacted back at 5:18pm to let me know he was on his way. When he finally got to my house, with his pants sagging off of his [redacted], he asked if I was [redacted]?, I replied yes. He then proceeded to look at my garage door and proceeded to tell me he did not have that size spring on the truck. He then called the dispatcher to tell them the problem and came back to tell me he was going to have to come back to my house between 10am-1pm on 12/3/2015. I did not understand why that was needed if they offered 24 hour service and this was the companies mess up. He was there a total of 10 minutes and I waited for 5 hours, so the first false advertising was 100% costumer satisfaction, I was not satisfied. Next I contacted to company back and was very furious. Spoke with a gentleman about my issue and he proceeded to tell me (I guess to cover their own butts). Well the technician told us that he came to your house but no one was home. That was a bold face lie. I talked to the technician and my neighbor was outside as we were talking, so the gentleman transferred me to someone else and this gentleman listed to my complaint but had a serious attitude like I, the costumer was wrong for waiting 5 hours and then not having the parts they need to fix the problem. The gentleman said we have another technician in the area tat can come but it would be around 7pm. I said that is fine. He put me on hold for 3 minutes., then came back to the phone and said we will have to be at your house at 8am in the morning o 12/3/2015. Second false advertising is Guaranteed same day service. I told him I have things to do tomorrow so are you sure they will be here by 8am. He gave me a promise. Well at 8:13am on 12/3/2015 no call from them and no technician I called them to confirm, I was put on hold and then transferred to the dispatcher which went strait to voicemail, and the voice mail said hand up and call back later, do not leave a voicemail. I called right back to the gentleman you transferred me to the dispatcher and he said give him few minutes and he would call me back. After waiting a 1hr and 27 minutes, still no call.Desired SettlementUnder N.C. Gen. Stat § 75-1.1: Unfair & Deceptive Trade Practices Under North Carolina Law, it is illegal to False Advertise and is punishable under the law. Your company needs to change their practices and complete the job that to agree to under a verbal contract which is the same as a written contract by law.
