Excellent service. 10 out of 10. I was desperately in need of air conditioning. Went online and found nearest location which was Raleigh Heating and Air. They were punctual, patient and went the extra mile in pointing out that I had a leak in my roof. The quote for repairs was exactly as quoted, no hidden cost. I was very impressed with [redacted]. Did not meet [redacted] but his professional response and validating the urgency of my need was greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I had a system installed 4 years ago. Had issues with the air-condition and they replaced the system without me having to request it. They have been doing my yearly service every since they installed the unit and I have been satisfied with them meeting at the time we set. They have not been late at all.

Raleigh Heating and Air overcharged me and recommended an unnecessary service.I asked Raleigh Heating and Air to come to house for a checkup on 8/24/16 for my 2014 AC/Heating units. This is the first time I used them. I set the appt up weeks in advance as all units were working great prior to their visit. I just wanted everything checked out and to get on a plan for any potential future issues. They stated that both units looked good, no issues with parts or coils etc..but I was a little low on coolant and they recommend I add some to the system so it can operate more efficiently. I declined that service at the time since we were happy with the way the units were running currently and since we were on a plan I would have them check the levels going forward to see if the coolant keeps getting lower. They charged me $236 for everything and that included getting on a plan. The next day (8/25/16 in the evening) I turn the unit on for the first time (upstairs unit) and no cool air is coming out at all. It was not reduced cool air, but no cool air at all. I call them first thing on 8/26/16 and they charged me again to come back out ($59) and they say now that I have a bad leak and I need to do a leak search which will cost hundreds of dollars and possibly thousands with parts and labor included. I declined the leak search as I don't see how I can have such a bad leak in just two days' time. They charged me $113 to defrost the evaporator coil and $144 for 3 pounds of coolant to get the system running again. Total for second visit is $373.80Why the initial tech did not recommend any type of leak search at all on the first visit, one day earlier, shows that either he did not do a satisfactory job in recommending a needed service OR the system really did not need a leak search. Since it happened right after he left I can't believe it is just a coincidence the unit decided to fail completely for the first time one day after it was serviced. I have no issues adding and paying for coolant but to charge for the return visit and to defrost the coil is wrong and not good business practice in my book.I asked another AC company that originally installed the unit to come out four days later (8/30/16) and they did a leak search and found no issues or leaks at all. They stated that Raleigh Heating and Air recommended a pricey full leak search when one was not needed at all. They also stated the charge of $113 to defrost the evaporator coil is ridiculous. The coil will defrost on its own over time and no reputable AC Company would charge their customer $113 for this service. Bottom Line, I would like the plan I was put under refunded ($236) and I would like a refund of $179.50 for the return call and defrost on the evaporator coil as these were unnecessary charges. I will pay the $144 for the coolant as I am not asking for a refund on that.Desired SettlementBottom Line, I would like the plan I was put under refunded ($236) and I would like a refund of $179.50 for the return call and defrost on the evaporator coil as these were unnecessary charges. Raleigh Heating & Air was dispatched to perform the work and homeowner agreed to sign up for Comfort Club Maintenance Program. At that visit the technician found the upper system low on refrigerant with a minimum of two pounds and Mr. ** declined to add refrigerant (see signed copies on all of the above work). The technician advised Mr. ** that the system would not run at system designed efficiency being low on refrigerant. The technician also advised Mr. ** there would be a return trip fee within 30 days since he declined these repairs (signatures obtained as well). In Mr. ** statement he indicates the system was turned on the next morning and immediately not cooling properly. On the return visit that day, Mr. ** was made aware of the return visit charge (previously noted and acknowledged on the invoice), as well as on the phone. When the technician arrived, the unit was frozen (a common result of a system being low on refrigerant and running for several hours). In order to properly charge an HVAC system the unit needed to be thawed. The pricing was presented to Mr. ** prior to beginning the work and he approved the charges for the technician to unthaw the system which took approximately an hour. Once this was performed, the technician found the system to be three pounds low on refrigerant. The technician advised the homeowner of the charges and they were approved prior to adding the three pounds of refrigerant. A leak search was offered, as a pressurized system will continue to leak refrigerant until it is repaired. The time frame of the refrigerant leakage will vary, dependent upon the size of the leak and how often the system is operated. Mr. ** declined the leak search (see attached for all approval/decline signatures). We take any slanderous comment made towards Raleigh Heating & Air by another heating and air company very seriously. I make no apologies for our pricing. Among the other licensed HVAC contractors in the area our prices are right in line and fair. We offer up-front pricing for this very reason as seen in the attachments on this claim. Mr. ** had both systems serviced as part of the Comfort Plan and discounted rates applied to the service visit, defrosting of coil, and refrigerant. Once regular rates and put in place with removal of the contract, there is no refund available. If Mr. ** wishes to discontinue any further services with Raleigh heating & Air, we will make note of this on his account. Consumer Response I contacted Raleigh and Heating for a checkup not a tune-up as I did not call them with a problem with my unit and you can see that on the first invoice out that their tech in the initial visit backs that up. The units were working when he got here fine and he found me to be a little low (about a pound) on coolant. Raleigh Heating did not response directly as to why one day later the unit was now 3+ pounds down on coolant and more importantly why the initial tech did not recommend a leak search at all on the initial visit. If I had a bad leak (which I found out later I did not have by the AC company [redacted]) do they acknowledge that this was an error on the initial techs part in not stating as such on the initial visit? Are they saying the leak got bad in one day? Also if I had accepted the initial recommendation and spent money to add coolant on the first visit would it not all go out this supposed bad leak I have and you would have had to come back again to add more coolant? I would like a response to my questions. You can see on the paperwork that a leak search was not mentioned at all and he did not state anything to me at all. If he tells me I have a bad leak then I get it checked out. The fact that just coolant was recommended shows I did not have a bad leak and that the recommendation to get one on the second visit was not necessary. This would have ended up being hundreds even possibly over a thousand dollar charge. This is my upstairs unit so it is not used daily so I turned it on for the first time Thursday evening, not in the morning like Raleigh Heating stated. This was past their office hours so I called first thing Friday morning. For it to not send out cool air on the first try shows that it had to be something else that caused this issue.By the letter of the law I did sign for all those charges as I had no choice on a late Friday afternoon to get my unit working as if I declined then I would most likely not be able to get someone out until Monday to fix.I would think that it is important then for people who use Raleigh Heating to know that if your unit is not working one day after a full checkup AND signing up for a service plan then Raleigh Heating will charge you to come back out and will charge you $113 to defrost a coil in which they could have just told me to turn the unit off before they came out and it would be defrosted. They also are satisfied that they charge customers for these services and make no bones about this pricing. [redacted], does not charge for these services as a practice as I can't speak to other licensed HVAC contractors but I bet if you took a poll most would not either and I ask the Revdex.com if they feel these charges are in line with good business practices. If this all happened a month or a week later I would have had no issues but one day after they come out and for them to make no price accommodations and acknowledge no possible coincidence that something may have happened to the unit for it not to work properly the first time used after tech visit. The plan I signed up for ($236) comes with a return service trip and maintenance agreement which I will not be using so does Raleigh Heating want to keep my full one year service agreement money even though I am only used them for three days? If they decline to refund my plan money then I would also like it noted that if you sign up for a plan and cancel three days later they keep the full year amount.Final Business Response Mr. ** I hope to address the concerns you have with our company in this letter. Mr. ** questions no. 1: If I had a bad leak (which I found out later I did not have by the AC company [redacted]) do they acknowledge that this was an error on the initial techs part in not stating as such on the initial visit.RHA response no. 1: An HVAC system is a closed loop pressurized system. Anytime the refrigerant is low, there is somewhere it is leaking from. Our initial technician could have done a better job educating you on why it is important to have the refrigerant levels meet manufacturer standards and the implications for not re-charging the system. It is also standard practice that our technician offer a leak search on any system that is over one pound low (which he did not do). Regardless of the leak search being offered on the initial visit or not, you still needed refrigerant added for the system to cool properly.I would also like to mention as indicated by you in your rebuttal, "this is my upstairs unit so it is not used daily", that when a system is cut on/off or temperature raised up and down, so that they system will not run, that it gives the system time to unthaw (because when it's low on refrigerant it will freeze up and stop blowing cold air, but once unthawed will usually work fine for a period of time). If you continue to do this, it will eventually not blow any cool air when you turn it on. Mr. ** question no. 2: If I had accepted the initial recommendation and spent money to add coolant on the first visit would it not all go out this supposed bad leak I have and would have had to come back again to add more coolant? RHA response no. 2: Had refrigerant been added as recommended on the initial visit, and a leak not been located and repaired, YES it will leak out again. There is no way to determine how long it will take for refrigerant to leak out again. You may go through the rest of this season and not have an issue. You may even go through the next cooling season, as the leak can be the size of a pin hole. With it being a pressurized system, every time you add refrigerant, the leak point(s) will begin to enlarge with the more run time, because again, it is a pressurized system. I have no comments about how other companies run their businesses. We know what it cost for us to run efficiently and employ skilled and certified technicians. We have found that we are competitive with our pricing for other companies our size, and a 20+year longevity in this industry. I truly am disheartened that we were not able to meet the standards you think we should have with our services. In review, if we go back to the initial visit which was for a cleaning of both systems (upper and lower), as stated when you called, it would have been the $115 for the first system and $75 for each additional system (this is for no contract). Had you have added the three pounds of refrigerant on that initial visit as well (non-contract cost would have been $102.96 (1st lb. of R410A), $67.23 (each additional lb. of R410A), your initial visit would have cost $427.42. With your all in at $625.73, I will be glad to refund the difference of $198.31. We wish you the best with whichever other HVAC company you choose in the future. Final Consumer Response I want to thank Raleigh Heating for the detailed response and refund. I would also like to let them know that I will be dropping the disputes I made to both credit card charges once that refund ($198.31) shows on my card as I now considered this matter resolved fairly.

I feel I was overcharged for repair service and then ignored when I ask for an explanation.I am a member of RH&A's Comfort Club and have been a loyal customer. They are nice guys and prompt, but I feel I was overcharged for service work on my A/C unit. I sent an email to their web site requesting and explanation but did not receive a response. Here is the situation:8/25/15 - Initial service call consisted of diagnostics and coolant added. Invoice #SXXXXXX for $59 for the service call and $171 for the coolant. I don't have a problem with these charges.8/26/16 - A second service call for additional diagnostics. Same invoice # but with and additional diagnostics charge of $171. I feel this charge is not valid. Its like I'm paying for their inability to thoroughly diagnose the problem on their first visit.8/27/15 - Installed a new evaporator coil. The tech showed up a little after 9:00am and was gone before noon. Invoice #SXXXXXX for $946.15. Since the part was under warrantee I assume the charge was for labor only. I'm only guessing here since there are no specifics on the invoice. That amounts to a labor rate of over $300/hour. How can that be justifiable? My request for an explanation has gone unanswered.[redacted]Desired SettlementI feel the charges for the second diagnostics call and for the installation work should be reduced. I might be satisfied with a reasonable explanation but to be ignored is the wrong way to treat a (formerly loyal) customer.Business Response /[redacted]/Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@rhahvac.comDear Mr. [redacted], I believe you have since spoken with our Service Manager ([redacted]) and [redacted] has sent you a private message on your Yelp review. My hope is that your questions were answered to your satisfaction. Your invoice included 1 diagnostic charge, 1 leak search, and the charge to replace your coil. While we are reimbursed by the manufacture for your coil, they do not cover the cost for any materials necessary to replace a coil. I would like to apologize that the attempt you made to contact us through a submission on our website went unanswered. All forms filled out on our website are delivered to myself and several other people here in the office. I have had several meetings with the company that manages our website trying to recreate the problem but every test we sent was delivered where it was supposed to go. I apologize for what must have been a glitch in the system which lead you to believe that you were being ignored. Please know that any other attempt made to contact us would have been answered promptly and thoroughly. We would never intentionally avoid any question about our company, pricing, or any of the work that we do. We always provide up-front pricing. Our technicians will not proceed with any job without your signed approval for the charges on the invoice. I understand that you may have questions that arise later on in the repair process and I'm very sorry again that your 1 web submission did not reach us. We would never want anyone to feel mistreated by us and hope that we have been able to resolve those feelings for you. If you still have questions please feel free to call us at XXX-XXX-XXXX or you can always send me an email at [redacted]@rhahvac.com and I'll be happy to assist in any way. Thanks for your help.[redacted]Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/

I noticed my air conditioner wasn't working sometime after 5pm on a hot afternoon. I was worried about spending and very hot night but Raleigh Heating & Air sent someone out very quickly and had my unit working in very little time. The cause was thought to be a small leak of freon. Another appointment was made in order to fix this problem.

Raleigh Heating & Air Gave an excellent maintenance call on my furnace. Thanks,

I have a maintenance plan with Raleigh Heating & Air, but was still surprised when I called with a problem on Saturday afternoon and they were there in a couple hours. [redacted] fixed the problem at no additional charge !

[redacted] came out to my home to give me a quote on a new A/C, furnace and duct work throughout my older home. He was meticulous to detail, responsive, prompt and a pleasure to work with! He quickly responded to my MULTIPLE emails, questions and concerns and definitely went above and beyond to cater to me and provide me excellent service. Although I ended up going with another company that was much competitive in price, I am genuinely happy with [redacted] direction and attention to detail and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone!

Quality service from the phone calls all the way to the Technician, who got there on time and completed his job in a prompt manner.

Raleigh Heating and Air was recommended by my home repair man who is also a friend of mine. From the start the experience was pleasant and professional when I called to make the appointment. The service tech called ahead of time and arrived when he was scheduled to. He was experienced and easy to work with. Based on my interaction with Raleigh Heating and Air, I am going to purchase a yearly maintenance agreement with them. I highly recommend them.

Great service. [redacted] walked me through every step of the service process and asked if I had any questions with the procedures. I would recommend Raleigh Heating & Air to friends and family. More importantly, I would recommend [redacted] to conduct the services.

Had our AC serviced by [redacted] . He was very thorough and professional.
As an aside: I wish the company had a method for doing reviews on their site. Some of us don't do social media.
