We did not renew our AAA insurance package policy as of 5/1/ Here's why: the rates increased again by $over last year on top of a similar increase the year before, for a total of over $1,for the years the policy was in effect In addition, the accounting is horrendous All years, we had a problem with them posting the payments incorrectly They would post the escrow payment by the mortgage company for the hazard insurance into the auto portion of the policy Then my monthly car insurance payments would be posted against the hazard insurance and then have to be movedevery month I tried everything: adding a memo to the check to state it is for the auto portion, changed the payee bank so they would not confuse the mortgage company payment with my payment, etc The final straw was when they sent a cancellation notice to my mortgage company for a payment on my auto portion before the due date (due date changed every month because they bill every days not monthly) The only claims in the years were for a windshield chip (patched) and crack (replaced)
This was inspiration for me to research my options I gave AAA opportunities to keep me: discussed how to save $$, and their only option offered was to eliminate the umbrella portion and reduce the limits on the cars from $250k/$500k to $100k/$300k I found a local Revdex.com accredited insurance agency and saved over $1,for better coverage than the original with AAA
Once I cancelled AAA about a month before the renewal date, I have received additional notifications: another cancellation notice/bill to my mortgage company for the $they erroneously posted last July (mo ago) to my auto portion; a refund check to me for the cancelled policy (the one they erroneously cancelled prior to the due date/reinstated days later - was told to void the check as this was in error); and now a new reinstatement bill to the mortgage company for another $
The package policy of nearly $6,is already paid in full, and now I have to contact my mortgage company again to be sure they do not pay the latest bill and then I have to contact AAA yet again for them to correct their records It just never ends
