Ram's Eastgate BP, Inc. Reviews (1)

My vehicle obtained substantial damages to the engine while at this business. The business denies any fault in this occurance. I took my adequately running vehicle into this business to change my tires and battery. I paid $900 for these changes. I was informed that the car had been taken on a test drive and was perfectly safe to drive my teenage child and I home. Less than two miles from the business the car became undrivable and broke down. I towed the car back to the business Thursday night and called twice on Friday to check the status of the car. My call was not returned. The business stated that they called me on Saturday but in review of my call log, there was no missed call. I finally got in touch with the manager on Monday and he was extremely rude. He would not provide the name of the mechanic that worked on my vehicle and he became extremely agitated, interrupting me and continuously telling me that this wasn't his problem. He informed me that he would fax the diagnostics and work order to the [redacted] dealership in Chapel Hill and to my attorney. He did not and still has not done so. After my second call to the manager, he told me not to call back unless it was my lawyer who was calling, and then he hung up on me. What makes me suspicious is that when I finally got in touch with this business, they immediately put me on the phone with the manager upon hearing my name, implying that they knew that had done something wrong. The [redacted] dealership said that the total damages to my car would cost $16,000. Before I dropped my vehicle off with this business there was nothing wrong with the engine. The [redacted] dealership implied that there was clearly negligence by the business in reguard to the damages to my vehicle as exemplified by [redacted]'s choice to not charge me for the three hours of labor they put into looking at my vehicle. When asked, the [redacted] dealership said that I should take the car to a junk yard because it is not worth repairing. They explained that the head gasket is blown and presumably I will need a new engine. Desired SettlementI would like them to pay for the damages done to my vehicle ($16,000) or replace my vehicle (same make, model, year, mileage, etc.)Business Response To whom it may concern,Ms. [redacted] had her [redacted] towed in to our station for a battery replacement and four tires because the vehicle had been out of service for some time. Our shop simply replaced four tires and the battery on this vehicle. After replacement our normal practice is to road test the vehicle for the purpose of tire replacement. As indicated on our repair invoice no repairs or adjustments were made to the engine in anyway. The customer declined to repair drive belts, leaking engine oil valve cover, suspension parts and oil change. The vehicle was picked up and apparently broke down on the way home, the vehicle was towed back to us. Our first available slot to inspect the vehicle was Saturday. We did basic diagnostics on this vehicle, when it surpassed our diagnostic capabilities I phoned Ms. [redacted] and did not receive an answer or opportunity to leave a voice mail. When I returned to work on monday I had a call from Ms. [redacted]. After speaking to her about the vehicle I advised her that diagnosing this vehicle is beyond our capabilities. I suggested that she have the vehicle towed to a different facility. The vehicle was towed from our station, later receiving a phone call from Ms. [redacted], Who was threatening and violent during the conversation. I advised her that unless she calmed down and spoke to me without a violent and threatening manner I would no longer continue this conversation. Her demeanor continued, After she said that she had hired an attorney, I advised her if she had any further communication with us she could do that through her attorney. As far as our practices, It is company policy not to give the information of our technicians to hostile customers, only names of managers. My title is Service adviser and manager, it was my duty to handle her concerns. As far as faxing a document of our diagnostics it has been completed: it was faxed to a person named "[redacted] at [redacted]" I can provide copies if needed. After receiving this complaint from the Revdex.com I reached out to [redacted] at [redacted] who is the service adviser for Ms. [redacted]. He stated that is no way was it ever uttered that the issue was caused by installing tires or the battery on this vehicle. Clearly this shows that Ms. [redacted] is fabricating this story. As far as the only viable complaint that I see, in no way did the tire or battery replacement contribute to the internal engine problems stated here.If I can be of anymore assistance please let me know. Consumer Response [redacted]Document Attached[redacted]When I took my [redacted] to the Eastgate BP, I simply requested that a battery and tires be replaced. Upon phoning to find out the status of my car, the gentleman on the phone (The mechanic who did not identify himself and upon later questioning, [redacted], would not let me know the name of the mechanic that worked on my car) gave me an estimate for $1700, including an oil filter, told me there was an oil leak, and recommended an oil change. He and his mechanical team clearly messed with the engine, when I did not request that be done. I told him I was confused why the estimate was so high for simply batteries and tires, reiterated that I only brought my car in for batteries and tires, and reiterated that I did not want them to mess with the cars engine in any way. I clearly requested and paid for only a car battery and four tires.Furthermore, [redacted] did not have permission to do any diagnostics with my [redacted] car engine. He did this without asking me. While [redacted] at the front desk was very kind that evening when he gave me my car, (March 12th) he told me that the car was good to go: it had been on a test run, and did not warn me that within a mile and a half of driving that the head gasket would blow. Also, attached you will see a few other customers had very similar complaints, so clearly this is a pattern at the Eastgate BP.I'm requesting that the [redacted] of the car be reimbursed, which is $3500. As I stated earlier, when it was towed to the [redacted] they would charge me 16 K to repair the blown head gasket.Furthermore, regarding [redacted]'s response, it is his word against my word, my perception as a psychologist was that he was slandering my character and I had a witness to both phone calls. Finally, I am including a copy of the estimate and receipt that I was given when I picked up the car on March 12. Again, I only requested a new battery and four new tires I did not request the mechanics at BP to assess the car engine in any way.Final Business Response In response to Ms. [redacted], we replaced the four tires and battery, during the service we performed our saftey inspection on the vehicle as we do for ever other vehicle. below is what is we suggested on the vehicle.[redacted](copied from invoice)VEHICLE NEEDS AIR FILTER AND OIL SERVICE 82.00VEHICLE NEEDS DRIVE BELTS 225.00+TAXVEHICLE IS LEAKING OIL FROM VALVE COVER 250.00+TAXLOWER BALL JOINTS ARE WORN, VEHICLE IS NOT ABLE TO BE ALIGNED IN THIS CONDITION 335.00+TAX[redacted]At no time did we service any portion of the engine. These items were noticed with a visual inspection only. During our road test, no issue were noted. The head gasket is an internal part of the engine it is impossible to tamper with it.As far as slander, I am only stating the facts that I know to be true.At this time we will not reimburse the original 16,000.00 (that Ms. [redacted] requested) for the repair, nor the 3500.00 that the vehicle is "worth"
