Ranch Dressings Reviews (1)

Review: On 3-16-16 I discovered that the consignment/formal wear store Ranch Dressings had moved from [redacted] to [redacted]. I had six gowns on consignment with that store. I was not notified that the business was relocating, therefore I was not given the opportunity to pick up my remaining items. I originally had nine gowns, two sold and one I donated. I received $110 for the two gowns that sold. When I found out that the store had relocated, I emailed the store. That email was sent on 3-16-16. I received a reply from that email on 3-17-16. In this email, the store owner, Elisa Benton, state that all customers had been notified of the move ( although I was never contacted). She apologized for the fact that I was not notified and said that recently the last of my items had sold, I had never received money for any of the remaining six gowns. She said that I would receive a check within 7-10 business days. I received a check on 3-19-16 in the amount of $117.48 for the six gowns. I emailed her back on 3-22-16 expressing my displeasure with this amount, she had place two of the gowns with prices of $279.99 and $199.99 respectively. I asked her for a receipt because I wanted to know what she received for each of the gowns. I got a return email on the same day from her and she stated that prices had depreciated since I had put the gowns in consignment, but she did not back that statement up with a receipt. On 3-28-16 I sent another email stating that I am still waiting for my receipt. She replied back on that same day with an email stating " Please refresh my memory!! I am so sorry...we have so many customers ...what receipt exactly? thanks" . I don't believe that this is proper business practice. I am guessing that she got more money out of my items and doesn't want to give me a receipt. I even sent her a copy of the projected prices that we agreed on with my email on 3-19-16. I feel that she owes me a "real" receipt and I believe that I have been ripped off.Desired Settlement: I want a true receipt for my items and a fair price. I realize that items depreciate, but $117.48 for six gowns is not acceptable to me. I was expecting at least $400.00 for those remaining items. I feel that the owner thinks that I will just forget about this issue, but I want it addressed.

Response:

On June 4, 2013 this customer consigned her items into Ranch Dressings at the [redacted] location. At that time this customer verbally agreed to put her items in our store at her own discretion. She did not sign a contract nor did she ask if there was any agreement that needed to be signed. With that said, Ranch Dressings had the right to discount merchandise and move the merchandise to our new location at our own will. We did try our best to contact everyone in our system of our move. We do apologize that she did not get the information. Her items were in our inventory for over two years. As a business, we cannot just sit and wait forever for an item to sell at its original price. Because her items were not selling, we discounted the prices and she still received fifty percent of the sale. In no way did we ‘rip her off’ or sell her items at a higher price and keep more of the profit. Please feel free to read our reviews on [redacted] to see how our customers feel about our business. We are sorry that this client feels like she deserves more money that what she received but her remaining gowns were sold at discounted prices because they sat in our store for over two years. She did in fact receive all money owed to her. In 2014 Ranch Dressings created a contract that states, “All items are subject to sale prices at Ranch Dressings discretion. We are not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items. If your item(s) do not sell, we will contact you three (3) times to pick up your item(s). Once you are contacted, you will have fourteen (14) days to pick up your consignment(s). If your item(s) are not picked up they will be donated to a charitable organization. When your consignment(s) are fully processed, you may not remove any items from the shop unless the proper paperwork has been filed. By signing below, you agree to all said terms.”

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I still want to see a receipt for these items , I asked for that originally. And in regards to the terms of the store, I was never contacted at all to pick up my items. She states that she informs the client three times to pick up items and I was not contacted at all. I would have picked these items up if I had been contacted and never let them go at such low prices, so therefore I feel that I have not received full compensation and want to receive more money than she has sent.
