Good afternoon, my name is Kathy A [redacted] I am the Service Director for the Jack Key Auto Group.I have had an opportunity to review the case at handI have found the following, The vehicle in question a Chrysler was towed into our dealership with and engine noise condition on August 19,at 99,milesUpon inspection we found Upper Cam shaft Lob was worn Causing misfire due to low compression, with experience of a machine shop and speaking to the current mechanic , you both should agree that a worn lob on the cam will throw off compression and cause misfires At this time the initial estimate was provided to [redacted] also advising this would be a starting point due to the condition age and mileage the vehicle came in with [redacted] approved repairsJack Key proceeded on the repairs as well as some maintenance items that Mr [redacted] had approved while we were in the engineOnce the camshaft was replaced the compression on vehicle was retested and was in operating condition as well as the misfire was goneThis backs up the recommendation and repair of the cam shaftAfter test driving the vehicle we did determine that the engine had an additional noise in the lower end of the engineUpon inspection we did find the rod Bearings scored, again spoke with Mr [redacted] and he approved the additional repair of replacement of bearingsWhile offering the repair Mr [redacted] was advised we noted crank shaft had score marks and offered an engine at that time, it was declined and asked us to proceed with bearingsWhen the vehicle left our service facility there was not any noises present in then engine We have no way of knowing the condition in which is was driven, as well as the customer had already been advised it would need an engineThis was documented and signed by the customer when picking up the vehicleJack Key never intends for our repairs not last or for a customer to feel cheatedI would be happy to work with you finding a new or pre-owned engine that will ensure a long life for your grandson, Or we can always look at trading him into another vehicle with warranty as to minimize the expense of repairs or remove them all together other than maintenance for a while

We will gladly issue a new checkis it possible to get the original check?

I will see if I can track down the checkIf not I will get a new one

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: Although I would be willing to accept this resolution, since it was what I had asked for, I surrendered the original check to Jack Key Motors in
December. Please don't tell me "We can't find it." Garrick apparently could see the check when I spoke to him in January and was told it was "in the stack to be processed." Thank you

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
Yes vehicle was towed because we didn't want to damage by driving itDrove it on dolly and drove off dolly
You replaced to cams, not oneAnd when they called me to say what was wrong and how much to fix it for I asked if that would fix itI was told yes so I said okWe took in because of a knocking sound not misfiringWe were not advised it would be the starting pointwe were advised it would be fixedwe did agree to have the the bearing changed
When vehicle left the shop his mother drove home and still a knockingWe called upon getting home and told them of the knock and oil burning smell*** drove to work one time and still noiseWe called again and they told us to bring in on a Wednesday
My invoice said repair would be short block replace and was deniedI was never told thatAfter first estimate I asked how much a new engine would cost because of the and they said approx
I finally took to another mechanic, showed what had been done and he said a lot of that didn't need to be doneHe also questioned the arm inlet part which was and I was charged for two, did not fit our engine
We have not driven car sinceThey told my grandson if he had full coverage insurance to ram it into a wall
Also on invoice they had his name, different address on chateau and wrong cell phone number
I was wondering since there was a knock of why oil pan wasn't checked to see if it was a piston
He just bought car for
we were not advised it needed a new engine!!!!!
The other mechanic said he could have gotten me a rebuilt engine for My grandson wanted to take it to Chrysler because he felt they would know what they were doing and could fix it
Already asked about another engine before I approved the repairWe do not want another payment on a vehicleWe have almost in this vehicle

Good afternoon, my name is Kathy A[redacted] I am the Service Director for the Jack Key Auto Group.I have had an opportunity to review the case at hand. I have found the following, The vehicle in question a 2005 Chrysler 300 was towed into our dealership with and engine noise condition on August...

19,2015 at 99,388 miles. Upon inspection we found Upper Cam shaft Lob was worn Causing misfire due to low compression, with experience of a machine shop and speaking to the current mechanic , you both should agree that a worn lob on the cam will throw off compression and cause misfires.  At this time the initial estimate was provided to [redacted] also advising this would be a starting point due to the condition age and mileage the vehicle came in with [redacted] approved repairs. Jack Key proceeded on the repairs as well as some maintenance items that Mr. [redacted] had approved while we were in the engine. Once the camshaft was replaced the compression on vehicle was retested and was in operating condition as well as the misfire was gone. This backs up the recommendation and repair of the cam shaft. After test driving the vehicle we did determine that the engine had an additional noise in the lower end of the engine. Upon inspection we did find the rod Bearings scored, again spoke with Mr. [redacted] and he approved the additional repair of replacement of bearings. While offering the repair Mr. [redacted] was advised we noted crank shaft had score marks and offered an engine at that time, it was declined and asked us to proceed with bearings. When the vehicle left our service facility there was not any noises present in then engine.  We have no way of knowing the condition in which is was driven, as well as the customer had already been advised it would need an engine. This was documented and signed by the customer when picking up the vehicle. Jack Key never intends for our repairs not last or for a customer to feel cheated. I would be happy to work with you finding a new or pre-owned engine that will ensure a long life for your grandson, Or we can always look at trading him into another vehicle with warranty as to minimize the expense of repairs or remove them all together other than maintenance for a while.

We sent copy of warranty to warranty company and will get it processed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

We are sorry for the delay getting the contracts and correct information to Mr [redacted]. We believe we have complied with his requests , however he has chosen to talk to Chrysler and possibly others out of our control.
