I have attached a couple of pictures of the customers motor. The round tab in the second picture is called a heat tab. This starts melting at 260 degrees. These are installed on every motor so we can tell if a customer
has overheated their engine. The center element will start melting out...

the hotter you get the motor,  you can see the good heat tab on the left and the customers on the right. The customers center of the heat tab has clearly started to liquefy. This shows us that the motor has been overheated after it was installed, whether it happened during the installation or driving I cant tell.   This voids the warranty. It is shown, on the attached invoice from the customers complaint, on the invoice that overheating is cause for warranty to be voided. On 9/17/14 we inspected the customers engine and notified them of their voided warranty. At that point I ([redacted]) offered to write up an estimate to help them get their car back on the road. I let the customer know that I would pass my cost on to him for the best deal we could possibly offer anyone. The customer did not want our help. This offer is still available, just let me know and I will help you.
Thanks,

Review: To Whom It May Concern:

This correspondence concerns a vehicle that we purchased in June of 2011 from California licensed dealer Folsom Lake Nissan [2007 Dodge Charger with Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) [redacted]].

The same month it had to be returned for servicing because the engine light was coming on so we took it to California-Licensed dealer, Folsom Lake Dodge, who indicated that it was a cylinder problem and they performed the repair(s).

By 2013, the engine, again, was running so bad that we took the vehicle to Affordable Automotive (Bureau of Automotive Repair # [redacted]), receipt attached, that cost us $1,242.15.

Finally, on November 7, 2013, my husband, [redacted]. [redacted], called AAA Dodge Car & Minivan looking for a 2007 Charger engine. "[redacted]" said he had a 2008 engine, with 31,000 miles on it that would fit the vehicle. After making a deal for $1,800 cash "out-the-door, $500 was deposited with a balance of $1,300 still due when the engine was to be picked up. "[redacted]" works for AAA Dodge Car & Minivan, a dismantler located in Rancho Cordova, California.

On November 15, 2013, my husband went back to the dismantler to pick up the engine and pay the balance of $1,300 (cash). [redacted] was not there so my husband spoke to an "[redacted]" and he said that we had a balance of $1,547 (not $1,300), and my husband told him that the deal was only for a balance of $1,300. [redacted] called [redacted] for verification and [redacted] said "OK". [redacted] said ok and made a notation on the invoice that $1,300 was paid on 11/15/13, and initialed the not "ES". [redacted] then directed my husband to back up to the gate to get the engine. [redacted] offered one of their employees, a mechanic named [redacted], to install the engine at our home and that he would give us a "deal". [redacted] then called [redacted] in and asked him how much he would charge and [redacted] said $600--the same amount he charged the last person for the same service (installing a used engine).

[redacted] put the engine into his truck--the next day he installed the 2008 engine into the 2007 Charger at our home (address listed above).

The vehicle never ran properly and we had to take the car back to "[redacted]". He fixed for whatever he felt responsible and we picked up the car. It never ran good for an engine that was supposed to have only 31,000 miles on it. Numerous calls to him to get him to fix the engine proved fruitless. He also indicated that [redacted] was never an employee and that we should contact him if we had problems with the engine. We could not contact [redacted] because "he never worked for the company" and we did not have any personal information about him, so basically we were stuck with a vehicle that did not run properly

In addition, we had to call [redacted] back to bet the VIN from the engine he sold us and he said it was from a 2009 Dodge Charger (10th position of VIN was a '9') We did not verify the mileage on this vehicle, but it certainly did not "feel" like it had 31,000 miles on it.

Then on January 31, 2014, we received an envelope from CPD Car Division, AAA Dodge Truck & Van, 3731 Recycle Road, Rancho Cordova, CA 95742, (916) 638-5100. Not knowing what it was for, or from whom (envelope and statement indicate two entities), my husband called and was told that it was for taxes. My husband, again, indicated what arrangements had been made on this "deal".

Again, on October 4, 2014, we received another invoice, by mail from Rancho Chevy & Cycle, 3370 Sunrise Blvd., (916) 631-7900 (a 3rd entity) for taxes due on this transaction and, again, my husband had to call and explain what transpired with this "deal". It must be noted that each time he spoke with their 'representative', it was never disputed on how the "deal" was conducted or pursued the issue of the taxes during either telephone conversations.Desired Settlement: In July of 2014, we finally got rid of the vehicle for a 2014 Chevrolet Impala, because we could no invest any more money into the 2007 Dodge. Needless to say, the cost of the Chevrolet was a bit high because the finance company had to pay off the balance of the Dodge. Due to the misrepresentation by the dismantler, the questionable quality of these engines and the expense we suffered, we are requesting a refund of at least $1,800.

By copy of this letter sent to the State Board of Control, we are asking for reimbursement for monetary damages suffered from the dismantler who is license by the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and the dismantler(s) employees who are also license by the DMV (who, in addition, will be provided copies).

Also, I'm requesting monetary damages for the engine we purchased for $1,800. We requested a 2007, agreed to a 2008, but were sold, unknowingly a 2009 engine and for harrassment by supposedly the same dismantler (another tax payment being requested) and for the treatment that was and is still being meted out by supposedly the same dismantler(s), (again, the same tax payment being requested for a second time).

In addition, a copy of this letter and attachments will be provided to the Consumer Affairs Division, Bureau of Automotive Repair, so that they are advised of the business being conducted by the two entities references above and the Revdex.com. Also, the State Board of Equalization will receive this correspondence and all attachments for the sale tax dispute that we are still being harassed for.

In closing, we are writing to you because of all the Recalls that are just now coming to light. It sounds like these Dodge model years of 2007, 2008 and 2009, should have made the Recall list--perhaps they are now; however, in all of our dealings with all of the companies referenced above, not one of them ever mentioned that there was a Recall for these year models.

Please add this correspondence to your file of complaints to see if this will ever be made a Recalled vehicle so that we may be notified of how to proceed. This was the first time anyone in our family ever bought a Dodge and will never again.

In addition, please acknowledge receipt of this correspondence.

Thank you,

Carolyn Vargas

Review: PCM/ECM computer is defective and the business will not exchange the part. They will not tell us what business in Texas they got the rebuilt comp. from

We purchased a Rebuilt computer PCM/ECM for 2002 Dodge Dakota Truck PT# XXXXXXXXAG Invoice Ref# XXXXX, was purchased 11/5/12 at AAA Dodge Truck & Van for $562.88 - $78.00 refund for core exchange + $34.88 tax = Total $484.88 paid using my Debit Card. Part came with a 1 year warranty. We only had the part 4 months and we got a check engine light & code P0601 which means the PCM/ECM has had 6 internal failures. My husband called the business about the part and was told it would take about 2 weeks to check out the part. When my husband unplugged 1 out of the 3 electrical plugs, he found an oily like substance inside. This stuff was only inside of the plug, but not on the outside as if it was sealed in there. My husband took the part back to the business on 5/20/13 and was given excuses for instance: Check you wires to make sure oil isn't running uphill (up-hill?????) into the plug. So my husband investigated all around the area to check for oil and found nothing and No, No oil running up-hill. My husband stood there and went back and forth believing in good faith that (Parts Supervisor) [redacted] would do the sensible thing and exchange the part, but no, [redacted] tries to give my husband an intimidating stare and continues with the dumb excuses. My husband asked the name of the company they get their rebuilt PCM/ECM's from so we could investigate the integrity of the part and research to get the phone number to ask questions on what could cause the black liquid. [redacted] starts playing dumb and won't give the name of the company. My husband questions him 6 more times on who the rebuilt PCM/ECM supplier is and he refuses and says Texas somewhere. Obviously he does not want to reveal who does their rebuilds because something is shady (like possibly putting rebuild stickers on scrap and selling as rebuilt). He doesn't won't fess up and asks my husband "don't you trust us?" Is this guy for real? The whole thing smells rotten. The stickers on the PCM indicating the computer is rebuilt looks old as if it had been on 2 cars before ours. [redacted] has nerve telling my husband to take the defective part back home and clean the connectors off and hook it back up and try again. We already investigated anything and everything around where the PCM is hooked up to look for oil and did not find a drop so we made a decision not to take a chance and hook up the defective part which could potentially fry something due to this oily like substance filling up the inside of the plug and getting on the connector pins. All we wanted is for them to be fair and exchange the faulty part for a REAL rebuilt part, but now were talking refund because they can't be trusted. This is our only vehicle and we can't afford to get into a severe accident because the engine shuts off due to a faulty PCM/ECM. When the factory original went bad the whole truck just shut off in freeway traffic. We are talking no power steering and man handling a 4X4 Quadcab truck. I could only imagine if we were doing 65 MPH in the middle of traffic and I was driving instead of my husband. I work for the state of CA and will pursue an investigation of their business along with a phone call to Channel 3 Reports because my concern is safety. Please Help. Thank you for your assistance.

Mrs. [redacted]

(XXX) XXX-XXXXDesired Settlement: My husband originally wanted an exchange, but because of the way the Parts Supervisor, [redacted] is handling the situation by putting blame on my husband and the truck and making a ridiculous claim on oil traveling uphill on wires we want a refund of the $484.88 to buy another one somewhere else. It doesn't make sense why [redacted] is trying to hide the name of the company they get their rebuilt PCM/ECM's from. My husband takes excellent care of our truck and we can't trust them. We are going to be traveling on Highway 1 near hairy cliffs next month and don't want to end up as a news story. It's about safety and yes $484.88 does not appear by way of magic wand. We are all struggling with the economy and this amount of money takes me a week of working and putting up with a lot of attitudes to be letting a crook steel it from us. Sorry for the monologue... Thank you for time and help with this matter.

Business' Initial Response

I have read our customers wife's letter to the Revdex.com. I have never had the privilege of meeting or speaking with Mrs. [redacted] I did not deal with this customer till the end of all of this. AAA Dodge Truck does and will always stand behind our parts. We simply suggested cleaning the terminals and trying the computer again would be able to achieve the trip they had planned. We offered to let the customer try to clean the part or send it in for warranty right then. The part is rebuilt, not new. This part is a special order item, therefore can not be refunded. This is also on the invoice. Each computer is programmed specifically to each customers vehicle identification number and mileage. Once this is done it will not work on any other vehicle. The customers part is still under warranty, and we are still waiting for them to bring it back.

Consumer's Final Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

Obviously AAA is afraid that we will call the wholesaler and get question marks. A resolution still has not been explained. Please explain what you mean by warranty because previously you avoided an exchange? So what does a warranty entail? Can you be specific as to what you plan on doing to resolve the issue? We want to know that we are not wasting gas and time again to go across town to get the same result as the last. Our resolution is that we get a refund and we both can move on with life.

Business' Final Response

You need to bring your computer back for warranty. The warranty means replacing the bad part with a good one. When a computer gets warrantied it gets sent in to our wholesaler, tested, and replaced. It is still under the one year warranty period. If you are worried about time you can always call me at (XXX)XXX-XXXX. This whole letter writing back and forth would have been about a 10 minute call.

Review: I purchased an engine on 08/09/2014 and on 09/12/2014 just a month later the engine blew up. Myself a professionally licensed Class A driver drove the car and only placed 160 miles on it. I had my personal mechanic inspect it and they stated that the bottom end of the engine had failed. I immediately called AAA Dodge Truck & Van, who sold me the warrantied motor, and they sent over a mechanic by the name, [redacted]. When inspecting the motor his opinion changed three times before settling on the engine must have overheated. Being a professional driver, former diesel mechanic and owner of a large trucking company that drove the vehicle, I know that the temperature never exceeded 200 degrees Fahrenheit, much to cool to cause any damage. I paid extra for a warranty and was sold a motor and now AAA Dodge Truck & Van refuses to honor the warranty.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund as they do not have any desire to honor my warranty.

Review: I have a 2005 PT Cruiser I recently went to buy a fuel pump. I went to AAA Dodge Car & Minivan I purchased a fuel pump and then my father in law and boyfriend put the pump in. The pump was not the right size for my tank. So I drove back to the business and picked up a 2006 model. I then again had my father in law and boyfriend put it it. They replaced the pump and put the car back together and tada the pump didn't work, my car didn't want to start so my father in law took the old pump and plugged it in to get electricity to it and I worked you could hear it kick on, he did the same to the new one, that I just bought and there was nothing, no sound at all. I called and informed an employee he said that he would send me a new one in the mail being that I live so far and I could keep the old one that I had originally bought. So the new one comes in the mail and on my next day off I have my cousin and my boyfriend put the new fuel pump in they get the car put back together and the car doesn't start again. So again they test the pump and the same story doesn't make a sound. So they put my old pump back in and it starts. One pump was not the right size and two pumps don't work I call and inform the Manager and he said that I can bring the pumps in to get store credit. He said that the odds of having three pumps that were bad was unlikely. I informed him that it was just two and that I understand but we tested them and that's what was determined. He then asked if my fuel pump is working why did I need a new one. I said that is not the point, the point is that the part doesn't work. I asked if he could send me postage because I don't want to spend my money sending them when it was their fault. He said no he was not going to send me postage to send him back the parts. I said okay I will be contacting the Revdex.com he said okay we will just keep in contact by mail then.
