We have nothing to do with the lighting on the property. There was an authorized agent of the property present at the time of tow. Your complaint should directed to the property management not the tow company.

These terrible people towed my car parked in front of my apartment building twice. Once it was parked legally on the street where we always parked and the second time was in the parking space at our apartment complex. We didn't have to have a parking permit there. They even knew whose car it was because they had my husbands name written on the window as they loaded it up. The city is no help. They must get.commission from the tows. So glad to be away from that awful place.

Doesn't deserve the 1 star rating I accidentally hit before.submitting.

Review: At approximately 8pm,March 21, 2013,I had my car towed in the private lot of [redacted] apartments while parked there for 10 minutes while moving my things to my car. That was the last day I had to move out of my old apartment,so I had pre-approval from the apartment's manager to park there temporarily to move my belongings. It took the tow guy 2 minutes to pick up my car and drive away while I was walking down the steps from my apt to load the car.I called the dispatcher for the tow company while my roommate tried to chase down the truck, but was unable to catch up with it.The dispatcher supposedly tried to contact the driver for me,but was unable to reach him,so informed me that I must go to the tow yard to pick up my vehicle and that there was also a manager on-duty I can talk to.Meanwhile, another tow truck driver went to the apts to pick up the other 2 cars that were helping load, but called it off since we had pre-approval from the manager.I went to the tow lot and no one was there.I called the dispatcher 3 more times, at 8:20, 8:28, and 8:32, to inform her that there was no one there and all she kept saying is that the manager is there waiting. Finally at approximately 8:50,a driver came and told me he cant do anything about it since he was not the manager and if I wanted to take my car out that night it would have been $408 instead of $303,since it was after hours already. So I was down one less vehicle to help move out that night and had to stay up the whole night to compensate. The driver told me to come back at 8am to talk to a manager, but when I came at 8, there was not a manager present, except a front desk guy that was totally rude and not hearing my case out.He told me to come back at 3pm to talk to the manager.I came back at 3:10pm, and the same front desk guy told me the manager was only there for the less than 10 minutes and I barely missed him.Now I felt I was given the run around. He argued that the manager gave authorization to tow, then refused to show me the form.Desired Settlement: The front desk guy said that they didnt need authorization to get on private property, since it was a safety matter with my car being parked near a red zone, but yet all cars are parked in the red zone since the red zone goes around the whole parking lot.He continued to say he did not have to show me anything, mocked and egged me on to call the cops, laughing.I paid the bill of $303.My apt manager has been trying to contact the Del Oro tow for the past 2 weeks, but they have not called back.

Complaint#[redacted]

I have received your complaint from [redacted] regarding the tow of her 2007 Scion from the [redacted] Apartments. The vehicle was towed for being parked in the fire lane. In the California Vehicle Code it states in section 22500.1. In addition to Section 22500, no unattended, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a peace officer or official traffic control device along the edge of any highway, at any curb, or in any location in a publicly or privately owned or operated off-street parking facility, designated as a fire lane by the fire department or fire district with jurisdiction over the area in which the place is located.

In regards to removing your vehicle from private property while parked in a fire lane, we do not need written authorization to do so. We have a general authorization with the apartment complex to check for any vehicles parked in the fire lane as stated in the California Vehicle Code section 22658 (E) (i) General authorization to remove or commence removal of a vehicle at the towing company’s discretion shall not be delegated to a towing company or its affiliates except in the case of a vehicle unlawfully parked within 15 feet of a fire hydrant or in a fire lane, or in a manner which interferes with an entrance to, or exit from, the private property.

(ii) In those cases in which general authorization is granted to a towing company or its affiliate to undertake the removal or commence the removal of a vehicle that is unlawfully parked within 15 feet of a fire hydrant or in a fire lane, or that interferes with an entrance to, or exit from, private property, the towing company and the property owner, or owner's agent, or person in lawful possession of the private property shall have a written agreement granting that general authorization.

Under no time did anyone contact me or our GM to notify us that anyone needed to talk with us regarding the complaint of this tow, nor did the manager of the

apartments contact myself or the sales team that works directly with the apartment managers. We at Rancho Del Oro Towing acted in full compliance with the California Vehicle Code in regards to removing a vehicle from private property. The release clerks and the drivers have been counseled on displaying a professional attitude at all

times. We thank you for your inquiry into this matter and consider this matter closed.

Review: These people just attempted to steal my car, parked in front of my apartment, while I was inside getting more things to put INSIDE my car..[redacted] hooked my vehicle in my presence and then demanded $100.00 to release it...at 4:00 am I am confronted by this in my OWN HOME...I don't think I need to elaborate any more than that...If that is not BLATANT THEFT, I don't know what is...I'm on PRIVATE property and am breaking no civil law whatsoever, they tried to steal my car, period; and they DID steal my money...Legal action is forthcoming...Desired Settlement: I want my money back; it was stolen from me by way of extortion and intimidation...Being confronted by a man at 4 AM is not fun, especially when he is STEALING my car...I WANT MY MONEY BACK...

Review: I was informed on the 22nd of April when I called the facility at 1 pm that my car was not in their possession. I later was informed my car had indeed been towed to Rancho Del Oro Towing by the the sheriffs office on the 23rd. I spoke to Frank on the phone twice and verified the amount that was due was $195.00 if picked up by Friday the 25th of April.

I showed up Friday to pay the fees and pick up my car and he tells me I owe $495.00. I asked to speak to manager. I was told that is not possible. I asked for a complaint form or if there was anything I could do. He said "no sorry." This business practice is not fair. He tried to tell me the car had been towed the night of the 21st and it is over 72 hours so there are additional fees. If that was true then why would they misinform me when I called the 22nd to ask if if the vehicle was towed to their facility.Desired Settlement: I would like the $300.00 refunded to my credit card please.

CAR INFORMATION...

Review: My car was towed by RDO Towing. I felt it was wrongfully towed, I have photos of the place and there are no signs that say it will be towed. Whe we showed the employee at the Tow yard, he said he couldn't do anything about it, but you could call the Consumer Fraud Depatment Number, and he gave me a paper with a phone number, and had me sign and date the paper. But still had to pay a ridiculous amount to get my car. When I went to call the number, it is disconnected. I have written a letter to them, and have receive no response. So I am hoping you letter will get someones attention.Desired Settlement: To get my money back on this tow. It was $416.00, which I feel is way excessive with no signs posted.
